One of the most underrated bikes out there, owned one for 4 years such a great do everything bike and so simple to maintain and ride. I tell people to get this for your first bike, super reliable and forgiving. Doesn't have all the crap you never use on the more expensive bikes. A true bargain back to basics bike.
My dream bike would be a redesigned version of this to match its bigger brother but with all of the electronics and TFT display to match the new Africa Twin. Add upside down ES forks and ES shock and standard Brembos too! Price it at $11k and watch them fly out of the door.
No dummy , you're thinking of a GS 1200. If you owned one as I do, you'd laugh at the looks of 1st gen. DL 650s. In person, these are quite refined looking. Get it right.
I understand that if the engine is smaller - less powerful, and the whole system is accordingly downgraded, it can be the reason for lower price. BUT - why the cheap useless shocks ? The same ordinary ugly bulbs ? They only upgraded the 1050. This one is same old bike.
The basic problem is that you are paying so much for the genuine Suzuki accessories and they arent that great really. I bought the 2020 650 XT, same as this without the cases and handlbar accessory brace... I fitted Givi Trekker outback 58L top case and 48L Trekker outback panniers in black, heated grips, Givi airflow screen, Givi Crashbars, Givi Trekker bashguard, Barkbusters Storm hand protectors and it was still cheaper than Suzuki's spindly offerings.....
Interested in how your V-strom looks & handles. I will be picking up my '19 650xt from my local dealer & wish to mount some panniers and possibly a top case along with some upgrades like you mention.
@@n2rydn781 Bike looks good with it all on and handles well, for sure the panniers are the biggest they do and so it’s a bit on the fat side with them on, but they are only really on there for camping and carrying things around, the rest of the time, the topbox is ample on its own.... those panniers do cause some drag on the bike but since that is not noticeable until the bike reaches around 100mph it’s not really an issue, I would probably consider a stronger bash guard than the Givi one, like for example a Heed bash guard, the Givi is ok but it’s not the strongest guard ever made.....
Appreciate your reply, am leaning towards the Givi brand. I have a V47 topcase on my ST1300. It has served me well. I jokingly tell people it'll hold medium pizzas, as I have made pizza runs on it. Thanks again for sharing! Ride safe!!
C est une très bonne moto. Mais les ingénieurs suzuki ont du s endormir il y a déjà 1 bon moment. Moteur et esthétique identique depuis des années, c est dommage.
Once again a Suzuki with break off mirrors, brackets, turn signals, everything on this is meant to break if you ever lay the bike down. When will Suzuki learn they will only sell a Suzuki once in a persons lifetime with this strategy? I got so tired of replacing plastic muffler brackets, mirrors, turn signals, and a host of other things. Every other manufacturer makes turn signals that bend back instead of snap off, save one... Suzuki.
Etner Montilla - Because they (mirror, turn signals, muffler brackets, clutch handle, etc. I’ve broken turn signals just by brushing a Bush as I went by it, and by my leg. My point is that almost every manufacturer knows your bike is going to tip over, fall, and get minor bumps and scrapes. THEY make turn signals that bend, flex, so if you bump something it doesn’t break, save Suzuki. After it happened a few times, I started noticing weak points engineered into everything, every plastic piece was meant to snap so you would have to replace it. At first I was like whoops, my bad. But then I realized that my friends bikes had none of these issues, the turn signals bend back, and resume position. When a friend rested his hand on my bikes mirror it snapped off. When we looked at it, we noticed where it broke was the thinnest thickness of plastic imaginable. They literally engendered into the design weak points in the tube. I mentioned this to the dealership and the guy responded "That’s a safety feature so you don’t get hurt," I lost it. I grabbed my friends arm, and said bullshit, that designed weakness and breaking point left a sharp six inch scratch on his arm. Had he been moving instead or standing, that would have needed 30 stitches. When you realize you’re dropping $100 every other month to fix things, and you realize your friends Honda took a fall, then got dropped, even fell while turning (he had new tires) but his HONDA HAD ZERO DAMAGE... you start to get pissed. Because just moving my Suzuki out of the garage broke a turn signal when I bumped it with my leg.

Proprio una bella moto tuttofare
I really want this bike
They could have adopted the inverted suspension model for the front wheel.
It should have been redesigned as a 700, alongside the 1050, looks very dated now.
If it aint broke, don't fix it!
with same price also...its important
Love my 2005 but these new ones look like woodpeckers on wheels.
"woodpeckers on wheels" Brilliant - that's a cracking line mate. ;-)

Qué envidia ver como en otros paises se sigue vendiendo la Drz400sm, aquí apenas hay ya unidades y a prcios desorbitados.

Everything ok, except those horrible headlights!🙀
And the enormous ugly heavy big exhaust

Don't know what you mean, my 2018 V strom has flexible turn signals?
Peter Shapcott - Great!
