Boltron's floating fists are definitely easier to animate but it's harder to read his movements when he's not holding a sword.

I don't think this works as well as it could. The amazing animation could have been better utilized by not making it flow like a video game but more like an animated show, e.g Dorkly Bits. If they're building a game from this though then kudos and I hope it turns out great.
