    I've never even seen Trevor in real life but through his music and lyrics I felt I knew him. Tack on the countless interviews and other things he did and he almost felt like a friend. It's been a month and this still makes me tear up. You were only supposed to express your breathless oblivion not go there. Fly high, Trevor. I don't know if these youtube comment eulogies myself and other leave on your endless videos matter, but If nothing else they are a testament to your mark on the world. A good mark, which we have far to few of.

    I grew up on TBDM and have seen them many times. This hurt so much. Imagining how bad he must have been hurting, how hurt his friends and family are and what the band must be going though is so devastating

    I'm a recovered alcoholic who at the end of my drinking was suicidal. I just didn't want to be here anymore. Alcohol wasn't doing what I wanted it to... just 3 hours of euphoria followed by a black out, wake up and do it again. Luckily I got my 3rd DUI and went to jail for 4 1/2 months... when I got out, I protected those 4 1/12 months of sobriety I felt I couldn't have gotten in the free world. Also, I became a believer in the fragility of my metal health. I still put effort into my recovery today, it's a maintenance thing. "I have a daily reprieve, contingent on the maintenance of my spiritual condition".

    Thank you for sharing your experience. It really shines a light on mental health. Trevor was honestly such a gentleman having had a number of interactions with him online, he was super kind and really uplifting. I'm devestated he is no longer with us, my heart breaks that he was going through so much pain. Sending love to his family and friends. Keep going my friend 🖤

    R.I.P. Trevor. I didn’t know you well, but it seemed like you were a cool person. Someone that I thought wouldn’t go down this path. I didn’t think it would end like this.
    Mental health is cold. It’s an epidemic that will never go away. Nobody has to go down the path of suicide. Nobody. Thoughts and prayers to the people surrounding him.

      @@AmongTheFence that's a cliche that needs to stop. It completely discredits lifetime childhood trauma. Some people like myself im 33, I've been suffering bad from depression for 7 years and its only getting harder to deal with. My mom being a drug addict dragging me through all sorts of ghetto hotels til she got raided when I was 6. Combine that sort of abandonment issue and then get passed around through the state system so i have a lifetime of getting abandoned and never feeling good enough. This is not a temporary problem. This is permanent done to my psyche during its development. You don't know what people have been through its not fair to discredit their sadness or trauma and assume they are mentally capable of over coming deep seeded mental scaring. Plus reffering to mental illness as a temporary problem is a morally bankrupt thing to do and very inconsiderate. We don't need that kind of ignorance in society with mental health being such a big issue nowadays

      @@preston2636 I still believe that there's a way to feel better and move past suicidal thoughts. That's what the "temporary problem" is. Not the depression. Some people are depressed all their lives even when they have a perfect up bringing. It's the suicidal thoughts that can be temporary.

      @@AmongTheFence ya you should probably do a little more research. This isn't just some thinking process you can change. It's hard wired into the brain because some mental illnesses will actually physically alter the brain. That's the entire scientific basis of addiction being a disease. You can see it on the brain in brain scans same with adhd and psychopathology

    Its always a shock when someone passes away unexpectedly but for some reason this just hit me hard. I guess its because he seemed so happy and he is so loveable. just a gut punch to know that a good guy like him was hurting and that hes gone because of that.

    Yeah man, I get it. I tell certain people about what I go through. Obviously, some people don't know how to take it. My dad doesn't really get it. And that's where it mainly stemmed from. My parents had gotten divorced after I graduated high school and I just felt like I was forcing myself to go to community college for what. I still had a bit of drive but again, for what? I had no major or focus on that besides making money. Anyways, I feel like I've opened up with you about other things so Idk if I have more to add other than I'm going to miss Trevor. RIP to a majorly talented vocalist.

    I’ve always used music and alone time to help cope with aggressive anxiety and panic attacks. Almost just vibing out so hard that your not here right now. Obviously, as a guy it’s hard to talk to anyone about it. Especially when it’s all the time. This video is much appreciated and I can definitely relate. Having Trevor give in is horrifying. I hope some people can find that suicide is not a solution. A lot of people suffer from mental health issues and there’s always a way out.

    Trevor was amazing. I was a super fan back in the day. I’ll never forget meeting them outside their bus at Summer Slaughter, I asked for a photo with them, Trevor came up behind me and grabbed me around the shoulder like we were best friends forever. Me and my buddy talked with them all for about 10 mins (Where to get good food in town). They weren’t too cool for their fans at all, especially Trevor

    I got on some Zoloft a few weeks ago after months of seeing a CBT therapist. I had a panic attack sat in my bathroom and felt like I was going insane. It’s really helped me out and I’m much more stable now.

      I took zoloft for a few years but felt like it never did anything for me. Like I didn't feel any difference when taking it at all. Kinda weird. I'm glad it's working for you though!

      Zoloft helped me a lot at a really bad time but once I started to heal myself a bit more over time the medicine because more detrimental than helpful. I'm grateful for it helping me through my rock bottom but it's not something I can consistently stay on

    Thanks for sharing these things! I can really relate to a lot of what you said since I've also struggled with anxiety for many years - on and off meds. Over the years I've learned that the meds do help when it is really difficult, but the overall best thing is to have someone to talk about things. To talk about anything really. The important thing to know/have is that there is a person who you can tell pretty much anything and that person still won't think that you are mad or anything 😅
    It's so amazing how much it helps to just say aloud what you've been thinking or feeling. Somehow it just like concretizes those thoughts in a way where you might realize that all this is just normal or at least not that bad, scary or worrying as those "demons" in our heads tell it is. For example, one time I hade this general anxiety for a months. I didn't know where it came from or what I was anxious about. I didn't even know what triggered it every time it happened. I just knew that I was anxious as hell and I thought that nothing could help me. Then I saw this old retired psychologist (at the bar) and I had the courage to talk to him. So I told him my story and explained my anxiety etc. cause why not. I wasn't expecting any real help.
    But amazingly that was the night I got rid-off my general anxiety. What did he tell me? He simply just said: "Name the subject of your anxiety". I couldn't name it. And every time after that when I had anxiety attack, I always asked myself to name the subject of my anxiety, but when I really couldn't name anything spesific, the anxiety went away! I am not saying that this works for everyone. All I'am saying is that talking and expressing your feelings/thoughts at aloud can really help you. Nobody should be ashamed to these things, because after all we are all humans and mental health problems are just as real and common as the physical problems even though they might not be that easy to detect.
    Sorry for the long text, but I really appreciate that you had the courage to talk about this topic 🙏 It was so heartbreaking to hear about Trevor... Never actually saw/met him in person, but I really like TBDM and I always thought that Trevor was just a genuinely nice and likable person - R.I.P

    Honestly, it feels like the entire human kind has been kinda destroyed and stressed out by everything that's been going on in the world. All these lockdowns, all this fighting, businesses have been forced to shut down. All this complete darkness and despair.
    I've been crying like a baby the past few days, sitting alone in my mess of an apartment, trying to drink away reality, having complete panic. Just feeling like nothing works out for me, depressed out of my mind.
    I'm going to church today. Been kinda planning to do so for awhile, but now it's time. I'm capitulating and doing what I guess is best for me. I'm so sick of feeling anxious all the time. I need help with this pathetic life situation and alcoholism I have dragged myself into. I've had enough of torturing myself like this. I'm worth more than this. We all are.

      So sorry you're going through this! Going to church was one of the main things that helped me! See if there's a counselor there or try to find a therapist to talk to

      @@AmongTheFence Thanks for your kind words. They mean alot to me. Just going there during sunday service today was actually pretty powerful. I can't understand I haven't done it sooner. There were couples there struggling with their marriage, people with suicidal thoughts who needed prayers.
      I was so close to just losing it and start bawling. Definitely going back there, for sure. Everybody should try it.

      Yes! I'm so glad you went! Sometimes when we're depressed all we can see is darkness and it hard to do stuff for ourselves just because we're ao discouraged! Taking the step to do it is huge!

    He's a good example of someone whose whole persona was to spread joy and happiness but was secretly sad inside. He was a towering figure in 21st century metal. My personal feeling is that he gave up too much to his craft, he spent too much energy on uplifting and bringing joy to others. I wish he would have spent some of that energy on himself. To me, this should be a lesson to people who are too selfless. Remember that giving too much can sometimes be taking from yourself

    I relate to your story about your anxiety, I had a lot of similar issues going on a few years ago. Zoloft was able to temporarily help me but I couldn't stay on it for that long, but I think it helped springboard me into taking charge of my life and dealing with my anxiety in a healthier way

      I was on Paxil for about a year back in 2008 and it helped, but I didn't like how it made me feel numb. I definitly make a lot healthier choices now. Meditation has done a lot and so has CBT. I still have my bad days though lol

    Have you ever thought of Klonopin and Kratom? Those REALLY helped me with the grief of losing my parents.

      From my personal experience, Kratom can actually be harmful, especially in someone with anxiety.

      Avoid benzodiazepines (klonopin, etc.) at all cost. That crap has ruined so many lives. Yes, you will feel better, but it's just a bandaid, and it's insanely addictive.

      @@christianwallin4993 No Klonopin is good. Now Xanax is not good because it’s too short. Most doctors say Klonopin is good for anxiety but just don’t take too much.

    R.I.P. One cause for mental issues is the wrong nutrition. Very few people get this but it is very true. If one dials in their diet, and works out, all things equal they will be relatively better off. There is more crime and incarceration's in areas that lack quality food- called food deserts. I've studied gut health and you would be amazed at the power you have in your stomach. Think of it this way- if you were hung over- how would you feel, think, act and behave? It's something like that only on a less noticeable degree. Obviously talk to professionals but learn about nutrition and overall wellness as a long term solution. FYI, many meds kill your gut health. There are 3 times more nerve pathways going from the gut to the brain vs. brain to the gut- think about that. Mental health is tied to how you feel. I think of the body as a giant bioactive machine. That's really all it is- cells, reactions, exchanges of info. and signals. It needs to be balanced. As you said, one day walking down the street didn't bother you, the next day it did. Talk therapy has it's place but physiology can play a huge part so don't ignore that. Most shrinks talk for a few minutes and thrown you on potentially very harmful meds that can throw your gut microbiome way out of balance. I guess it's good for business. If they said, eat right, work out- have some fun friends and hobbies- read more...visit MOAB, UT you would never come back!

      @@AmongTheFence The fact that you can acknowledge that says very good things about you. My comments were not off the cuff. I am extremely knowledgeable on this subject0 more so than most doctors. Most do not study nutrition- the system does not want them to. You seem like a good dude so I will suggest you listen to The Plant Paradox. Written by Dr. Gundry (Yale.) You will be amazed at what he has to say. Yes, GUT health is more important than you will ever know- it's all in the book. Not only what to eat, but what not to eat and why. How meds impact the balance between good and bad gut bugs- drugs and alcohol- all common patterns in mental dis-health. Get it straight and things can turn around. Get dependent on drugs and therapists and by design, you might only get worse. Which is better for business? All drugs have side effects- TD is a big one you don't want. Check if your RX's carry that risk.
      Running can help with anxiety- and many other things.
      Back to Trevor- I wonder if he had tinnitus? I play guitar and have it- it's a drag that can lead many down a dangerous path. Fortunately, now I just play v e r y quietly but no more bands. Keeps the wife happy at least.
      Do you play- or mainly just review? What's your main gig? Any history of head injuries- I had one and it can mess you up a bit. I'm no shrink but there are usually there are patterns to why we act and feel certain ways.

      I'll definitely check that book out. I've heard about how important gut health is before, but its easy to just shrug off. I've been okaying guitar for about 20ish years and I don't have any head injuries. I do have GERD though lol

      @@AmongTheFence You will benefit big time from the book. I much prefer the Audible version- listen 30 minutes most days. I already had near expert level knowledge on nutrition but I am getting a PhD from this guy.
      GERD is interesting. Dr. Gundry says to cut out all Whole Grain- yet the GERD diet includes them. Whole Grain goodness is a myth. It's just cheaper to make. It, and many other foods contain potentially harmful things called LECTINS. He also says to avoid all DAIRY and even most FRUIT sans a few in season berries as an occasional treat (fruit is "Natures Candy.") Fruit should not be thought of as a health food- it is mostly just SUGAR (fructose.) We are lied to by the food companies so they can turn a profit. Fruit was never available 365 days a year to cavemen. They want to sell it 365. We buy overseas fruit that has been artificially ripened- it's often teaming with LECTINS and high sugar and GMO's. It is no coincidence that mental health is a crisis in the US. It has been planned and created. It's not your fault if you struggle. The GERD diet also allows DAIRY- bad and Low-Fat breads and grains. I question that from a nutritional standpoint but you know your body and what works for you and what does not.
      Glad you have not bumped your head- it can be a rough, rough road. I also lost an organ- that was nothing compared to my brain injury. Learning about the healing power of nutrition set me on a mission to heal- and it's done wonders. Now I want to spread the word. Most people have NO clue about the power it has. If you are looking to doctors and food companies to heal you- you are in for a rude surprise. That is not what they want. Like I said, this book will help you a lot. When your body is in balance your mind can follow. Not a cure all if there are other serious issues- but all things being equal it can help a lot.
      I've been okaying guitar 30 years- I'm still just OK- but pretty happy with where I'm at. I can pick up most songs easily- main parts anyway and fake the rest if I know the key. I have some scales down and a bit of theory- took some lessons over the years. Zombie Guitar is really good as is Guitar Tricks. Do you know the pentatonic scale and the major scale? That knowledge will help a lot.

    I'm the last person on earth to want to sound like a big pharma rep here but Prozac really does save lives. It helps get you out of your head for awhile. When you consider how far alot of these folks have come in life and enjoy these lives alot of us dream of and still struggle with these depression issues, you know it isn't someone just having a pessimistic mindset or being negative or toxic, it truly is an illness. And it's an illness that 100% can be treated. There's depression over mountains and mountains of bad luck and terrible things happening, failures, your life not turning out how you wanted etc... That is certainly understandable and everyone has a breaking point but that isn't a mental health issue...that's a life just sucks issue. When you can come this far in life and can't beat this battle, that is mental health and the death of the mental health field and funding for said field and the rise in suicides in the last few years times up to the tee. The truth is, these days it ISNT just a cry out for help away. There is a systemic link to the rise of suicides. But Prozac can get you out of your head enough to at least get you centered...it certainly doesn't fix everything and the goal is never to stay on it forever but it really does work. "Going out and just getting some sunshine" is not the answer. In fact, when you're in a deep depression, being out in the sunshine surrounded by all these happy people that you want to feel like they do but just can't often makes you feel worse when you're in that state. Even with inflation and big pharma gouging, Prozac is cheap, it's not a narcotic, it's not addictive, and just a little can help you re evaluate when nobody is actually physically there to help you in your darkest hours.

      I took Paxil for a a little while and really struggled getting off it and didn't like how it made me feel. I have been tempted to try medicine again and Prozac has been suggested a few times. I'll look into and see if it's something I'd wanna try

      @@AmongTheFence I've never been suicidal or anything but I've had life events send me to a major depressive state and Prozac saved my life for sure. And less of it than what I was even recommended! And I'm off of it now. I have some here if I decide I need to go back to it cuz it's been quite a few years and I'm still waiting for things to get better and not have things to be stressed about all the time also. I try to take the hardest days on the chin and not get too angry (don't really get sad too much anymore, just angry) but it's there if I need it. But for now I'm off. It's not instantaneous though. It takes about a month of a steady flow of it in your system before you start to see change. Im not a hard guy to make happy though. Life circumstances and some pretty bad past experiences have caused me to need that crutch from time to time. To people who get depressed and feel this unspeakable pain to the point where the only answer is suicide after so much of it, I can't say I know anything about that but I'd like to think that maybe a little Prozac, and being serious and committed to always taking it as directed by a doctor every day, may at least prevent some of these drastic actions people take. I hope anyone that gives it a shot get out of it what I got. I really do. Cuz we are losing way too many good people out here to this.

      I think it works for some and not for others. I’m happy that it helped you through some dark times. I was prescribed Prozac as well and took it for one year. To be honest, I don’t think it did much for me aside from causing chronic insomnia. I slowly stopped taking it and now am on no prescription meds. I still fall back into depressive episodes from time to time, but nothing I can’t endure. I personally find the most effective means of pulling out of it is zazen meditation and mindset, as well as taking microdose / low dose psilocybin once or twice a month or so. Staying aware that absolutely nothing is permanent and not clinging / attaching to negative thoughts is key, no matter if a person is taking meds or not. This too shall pass

      Are you familiar with TD? It is a risk associated with Prozac. Ever tried a seriously balanced nutritional plan? Not joking- has helped many. Not all solutions come in a pill- mostly just side effects...eventually. To respect your comment though- sure, sometimes they can possibly be helpful when someone is at their wits end.
