Had the pleasure of meeting Wayman Tisdal at Benaroyal Hall in Seattle. Knew he was a musician but didn't connect the Basket Ball side. Love these guys music. Can't wait to get to the other side and hear their music.
And I have been a Sacramento Kings fan since they first came to Sacramento, and Wayman was one of everyones favorite players. Miss him enormously! If you youtube his interview after losing his leg to cancer, you will cry! Was a fantastic human being!
I saw and met Jeff maaany time in the 70s when he was in Boston (I think attending Berkeley College Music) He was great back then playing w a great band called Gypsy. One of my favorite guitar players
This is SUCH a great video!!! The way it focuses in close, so bright and clear. You can really see the feelings and passion and joy as this charismatic talent jams out and grooves. And he is such a nice guy, a family guy in real life, too. I only recently became a fan....and no sooner had I become a fan, than I hear about the terrible health disasters that have struck him in the prime of his life, sexiness, and career. Damn, life can really suck sometimes. I suppose all of us "poor" jazz fans can contribute something to Jeff and his family.........but you know. I remember back in the day, whenever Sinatra heard about a colleague, down on their luck, that he cared about, he'd quietly arrange to pay all their hospital bills. In the popular music field, (certainly NOT the classical!) there are some stars, whom fortune has shined upon, and who have amassed millions and gazillions of bucks, money they can never spend in ten thousand lifetimes. Where is the Sinatra of today? Surely, there are some gazillionaire music stars out there who can make life better for Jeff and his family. Hey, Kenny G, are ya listenin'........if YOU came thru for Jeff, I guarantee jazz fans wouldn't hate you anymore!
Thanks Jeff!! for all the music and grooves!! Tell Art Porter Jr, and Mr. Washington and all the others great ones that's been called to the concert in the sky!! Keep playing till I get there!!!
Apart from being a super nice, personable and humble guy that I met once on a jazz cruise, he was such an incredibly gifted and sublime guitar player. I love Jeff's playing.
RIP just heard today on Sirius. I am still in shock. This man music still gives me chills. Sacramento is so sad now. Well no more suffering. God bless his family
Thank you Jeff for all your music which has aided and inspired me on my musical journey. I'll miss you. A listener from the Uk by mere chance since 12 years old.
Rip Jeff! Wish I would seen his performance a couple of years back when he supposed to be in Norfolk with Peter White and Kirk Whalum but the show was rained out. I really waited for that group.
Oh gee he was so talented and died so young, (59)....a fellow Ohio person,....& he was 2 years younger than me. Not far from where I grew up,....him near Akron,....myself, Cleveland. He died of an extremely rare disease, an eye and brain disorder. Bummer, because I never heard of him until recently, in 2021....and I have been trying to catch up on his recordings.
Can't believe he's gone.
Those cruises were so much fun back then! I sure miss Jeff. RIP ❤️

An awesome talent! R.I.P.
Why have we lost so many great guitarists at such young ages: Chuck Loeb, Nick Collione, and Jeff Golub. It doesn’t make any sense.
I was hoping so much to see him again soon. I hope that he is doing better. Miss you Jeff and thanks for the wonderful music.
