Suzanne deserves some sort of gallantry medal for putting up with this. Imagine working all day and coming home to a starving Karl, waiting for a Mars bar, having to cook him scampi because he’d rather die than cook it himself, finding out he refused to do the one job you asked him to do which was sort out the washing machine insurance; then he just starts talking about worms with teeth, plays a game of cribbage, then pats you on the head and goes to bed 😂😂😂😂
It'd be interesting to hear from her what she loves about him. He's entertaining to watch & listen to, but living with him must be a nightmare!
@@andrewq159 I dunno, he seems pretty low maintenance
old mens ears and fingers carry on growing as they get older... suzanne didn't laugh when i said her arse had the same problem
She's been with him for like 25 years by now, I'm sure she's used to it.
@@SaintPhoenixx Why did she stay with him for that long?
Sometimes I wish there was a little animated Mandy in the show to defend Karl, like at the chocolate bar part 😂
18:05 Remeber Karl said he avoids people, so goes for lunch when it's not busy (after the main crowd)
Plus he's not got a "proper" job, so not like he's got a specific hour for his lunch break. It's usually midday to 1pm I guess though.
Doris Day was an American actress and singer who was huge in the 50s and 60s. She famously sang the song "Qué será, sera", which had the line "Whatever will be, will be, the future's not ours to see". So when Karl said he was easing a bit as he got older, Ricky was being sarcastic that Karl was now carefree and just taking the world day by day, not caring what comes next like Doris Day in the film which she sang that song (The Man Who Knew Too Much, by Alfred Hitchcock).
Oh I almost forgot, "oh me fanny fell off"....fanny is slang for vagina in the U.K. 😂😂
Don't forget Calamity Jane which is one of her most famous roles!
1:55 I've just noticed for the first time, the 'outsider art' being mounted on the wall. I love the subtle call-backs... as you said Mandy, best podcast animation EVER!
The bit about the chocolate 🍫 bar they're trolling him because there is a chocolate 🍫 called a Topic in England
I was hysterically laughing after she pat him on his bald head. Also, love the cliffhanger Mandy 🤨😅
Hi Mandy, Doris Day is orwas a famous American film actor circa 1950s-60s ,she was all all American, girl next door.Karl is on top form in this , hilarious 😊😊❤.
Mandy at the end "oh there's something I really wanna tell you ppl" Cut Off, like "Nope!" 😂😂😂
Lunchtime would usually be for one hour somewhere between 12pm-2pm for a "9 to 5" worker, but Karl's not doing an actual job so he waits until all those people are back in their offices etc. so he can avoid them.
I'm on his side about heavy handed people breaking stuff even though you have done it right. Curtains when opened frequently with somewhat of a downward pull, always end up knackered. And those bloody blinds/shutters in kitchens always break
I'm surprised he doesn't have more than one radio. I'm pretty sure he can afford a second radio by this point.
One of my fav. episodes, so much gold in this one.
Love it when he gets angry and swears haha 😅😅
On the tv were removal chimps they used to advertise pg tips but karl thought they were actually doing removal jobs 😂
Keep in mind Karl was living a normal person's life. Most people do not have grand adventures. The rise and popularity of social media and "reality" tv has caused the populace to believe if what they are doing isn't getting them attention, then it must not be a good life. A life where you are happy to be by yourself is what people should be striving for. The need for constant social interaction and seeking the approval and validation of others is a mental disorder.
The fact that Karl isn't single should give everyone hope
🤣🤣
He said earlier he goes out for a late lunch so he doesn’t need to see people 🙂 Most lunchtimes at work in the UK would be an hour at 12 or 1.
No shit, thanks for explaining lunch time to us.
@@intellex551not all work lunches are an hour and some countries do it later for example
Mr. Muscles is the British Mr. Clean, to clean the shower.
I love the bit o' animation of the cereal bowl when Suzanne gets up off the bed.
Doris Day, American actress and singer, and mentioned in Billy Joel's song "We Didn't Start The Fire."
I remember, as a child, I would occasionally play with worms. Two or three times, I even cut them in half. I was amazed how they were still alive after that, as two worms.
Suzanne comes home and asks "What did you do today," and the answer is "Nothing." That's me every day of the year, and it sucks. If only I had something to do.
Mandy's Construction Company. Nice.
I feel like I need to stand up for Suzanne here, because we are told how she is from KARL! via his unquie filter in life,
Think about many things Karl gets mixed up when his recalling 'facts' he has read or heard or seen. So maybe we should take a pinch of salt with what Karls says about Suzanne :D
Doris Day. She was in Calamity Jane. She was also in a Hitchcock film. I think it was The Man Who Knew Too Much, where she famously sang Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera Sera).
"Oh, I almost forgot...I wanted to tell you guys...."....Now that's an outro!!!
I like that throughout season 3, the music composer gave Karl his own "theme" or "melody" if you will, rather than in previous episodes where it was just the title song in different music styles. But Karl's Theme has a jaunty and yet calming feel to it, especially when used for his scenes with Suzanne in this episode particularly.
He has his lunch later so he doesn’t have to see anyone 😂😂. Great reaction as always 👏👏👏. Not many left now 😪
I just almost spat my tea everywhere because of the look on your face when Karl said "pat on the head"!
My uncle used to milk cows. Retired with a pat on the back.
...?? ...what did you want to tell us guys...? ...you cut yourself off too soon at the end... 🤪🤪👍👍
That ending!! Aghhh 🙈🙈🙈
You naughty sausage!! 😂😂😂
32:35 i thought i heard Karl say it earlier on in the video, but he says it again here and you picked up on it ...
Crib, or Cribbage to give it its full name, is a card game
the reason i picked up on it is, i used to play it back in college, and haven't heard anyone mention the game in like 20 years
As a child, the fighting worms would’ve scared me 😢
The thing on the telly was the PG Tips chimps moving pianos around and that.. they used to advertise PG Tips tea with chimps. Of course Karl thinks it's real, and they were working
I don't think Ricky gets up 'til about noon most days, so 3pm is probably a normal time to have lunch for him. Also explains why he's not always the first call Karl gets. I think lunch around then is normal in Spain too? Since they all go for a nap around normal lunchtime
Not sure whether you understood Crib short for Cribbage is a card game ❤
3pm is late for lunch, but Karl said he takes lunch late to avoid everyone
"Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so."
All of these things are important bits of life - tiling, plumbing, farting about, keeping things reet.
15:50ish - What was going on there, appears to be a reference to the famous adverts for PG Tips tea that were on TV from 1956 to 2002, in particular the "removal men" ad.
(ruclips.net/video/z5em8lQAcvg/видео.html Removal men ad is around 5:28)
In these ads, all the parts were played by chimps.
I don't think there was ever any real explanation as to why.
The first thing I think when I think Karl, is "Happy Go Lucky"
Karl has lunch late so he doesn't have to see anyone.
17:46 I don't have meals at regular times. I eat when I'm hungry. So, breakfast is literally breaking the fast, meaning, the first meal of the day, dinner is the largest meal in the evening and lunch is anywhere inbetween. Sometimes I skip lunch altogether. Why force yourself to eat if you're not hungry?
Hey Mandy! Sneaky end there! 🤣
Crib is short for Cribbage, a card game played with a board and little pegs (that are usually lost and replaced with matchsticks) and it has a weird scoring system that includes "one for his knob" 🤣
In regards to Karl patting Suzzane's head as a sign of affection, my dad does that too, lol. He does it constantly to my mum and it's always accompanied by him laughing at idk what and saying her name. She finds it very annoying especially when he messes up her hair. He does it to me too, but less often.
For me this is the best episode.
Nice little joke at the end, cutting us all off 😆 That deserves a pat on the head 🤭
Lmao
19:37 mithering basically means moaning. I think of it as a cross between bothering and moaning. 😂
And for those obsessing about the word mash and thinking, where does the "i" come from? Why isn't it mothering? Well, sometimes that's the same thing. 😂
I've no idea why he said lunch at three. I'm from the UK and lunch is definitely around 12-1ish. You could have it early at 11.30 or late at 1.30
It will be a sad day once this series has finished, an end of an era.
As always your reaction has cheered me up. 😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Talking of bad conversations I was in a mall with an old buddy from school and I asked "hey could you imagine accidently getting locked in three mall and somewhere in the mall murderer?" and he said "no" as if to laugh at me. I was hoping for "ah man where would be the best place to hide, which shop would have the best item you could use as a weapon to defend yourself" etc. Really disappointed me to this day and it was over a decade ago lol
The podcast was one day a week. They were actually producing/writing/acting at the same time. Karl worked the single Saturday a week. So their "proper job" dig was justified. It always amazes me that's she's so confident in her opinions
Doris Day did romantic comedies with Rock Hudson in the fifties such as 'Pillow Talk' and 'Lover Come Back'. The Ewan MacGregor/Rene Zellwegger movie 'Down With Love' was a call back to these.
That rant at 27.00 min, sounds like you are slowly turning into a Miss Pilkington. Love it.
Mandy showing her age when Karl was changing the channels on the TV when we use to change channels like that in the late 80s and early 90s 😅😅
Thanks for a day in the life of Karl. Some of Mandy's best work! I've done a bit of research (Karl style) and Karl has some lovely things to say about his relationship with Suzanne. For instance who's his best friend? "Well it's my girlfriend isn't it." And "With Suzanne I can say what I'm thinking, no one get offended ... I'm not trying to be funny, just be yourself. I'm most at ease and most myself when I'm with her."
The animators having Suzanne patting Karl on the head saying 'Goodnight' in bed was a wild take!
Yeah, you can tell he really does love her in his own way. Feeling comfortable with a partner is so important! 🙌🏻

Hey MCL👍love your reactions to Karl, you've got pretty much worked out🤣I would say that for most Brits lunch at 12-1pm is regarded as normal and 3pm is late, but this is Karl and I suppose if he's always doing DIY while Suzanne is at work he gets bogged down with fixing stuff and has it later. Great stuff, thanks for the laugh ✌️
lunch is definitely 12pm-2pm in the uk
Love that statement, I'm going around replacing things she's messed up 😅
Love the tease ending😉,
but for a second i hoped you were going to tell us what that "shop" was selling🤪
I'm with Karl on the socks thing. I like to spread my toes out and socks restrict that, if I'm just at home with no one else around then I'm always barefoot. People who wear socks to bed creep me out
Your laugh is incredible I love it!! Love your videos 😄
Fully agree with the socks and freedom
You really are my treat. Thanks so much 🙂
In your intro you forgot to mention the best ever narrator to the best podcast & animation ! ... "Happy go lucky" 😲😂 ... He actually paid someone to do some kitchen tiling if you watch his home made YT video " Karls Fridge" .. love how you "defend" Karl ☺ I've done the same for years
Mandy, your prediction about Suzanne and insects being topic of conversation is 100% accurate. Now if you can just help me choose random 8 digit number, i think i can win the lottery 2mrw🙏🙂
I genuinely remember living in England as a child and having literally 5 channels to chooses from. It was hell!!! Except for Friday night because they often showed something juicy on channel 5 😅. People from England will know what I mean hahaha 🤣
But I’m so happy to have Netflix and RUclips now. So much more choices 😊
5? Someone was born in the 90s :)
EDIT: I remember when TV shut down at night for that matter. Not a long part of my childhood, but it did stop broadcasting from about 1am to 6am
@@irreverend_ Change the channell with a switch on the windowsill.
@@irreverend_ lol...i grew up somewhere where TV was only one channel...and on from 4pm to 8pm....and then that was it for the day...so instead it was endless blockbuster or own video cassettes....
@@terweeme I'm guessing there wasn't a lot of children's programming on? I didn't watch much TV to be honest, there was only a TV in the living room. Couldn't watch videos except Friday and Saturday night when my parents were out, or 3am when they were asleep :)
@@irreverend_ at 4 pm there was an hour of childrens shows....he-man and thundercats...then the news and dont remember what else....our tv was on during dinner and if i could sneak in the childrens shows when my parents busy.
Made me feel old when you asked what was going on with the tv with a dial
No, it was his mother who said "worms with teeth" 😂
Haven’t made brownies because the oven exploded 😂😂😂😂😂
So great, the Suzanne "Heavy-handed" episode!! hahahaha
Remember we are getting Karl's version of Suzanne whenever he describes the relationship. As much as we love him, he should be treated as a very unreliable narrator of his own life.
He portrays himself as an awful partner, apart from sometimes doing DIY.
I suspect he's far more caring than he comes across as. But I understand the muted displays of affection. The important thing is that he's not a prick to her and she's happy with him. Who knows what he's really like behind closed doors, he could be a lot more affectionate than he lets on, but it's not something you shout about publicly. Or maybe he's awful, that seems a bit unlikely though.
How did you determine that when you have no other point of reference? How can you confidently say he is "very unreliable" when describing his life when you have no other data points to contrast his perspective to?
@@andrew348because we have hundreds of hours of him relaying experiences and information and being incredibly unreliable. His brain plays Chinese whispers with itself. So we don’t know he is unreliably narrating his life. But it’s a fair assumption.
@@irreverend_ She's been with him for a bloody long time, so I assume they are doing something right. I don't mean to say he's doing wrong by Suzanne, just that when he describes her as the hulk going about smashing the place up and barely saying anything to him at the end of the day, that's probably not how things really are, just how Karl describes it.
Late lunch to avoid people, like he said earlier in the episode!
Ricky and Karl have such a love/hate relationship it is fascinating to follow.
Karl was the head of a department in Central London. He and Suzanne were earning great money but didn't think of a second radio for about $15 U.S. quite sad really.
No insects or bugs, but worms with teeth ought to be an adequate substitute.
Hey Mandy, did you notice right at the end of the episode before the credits roll the little Smile Karl gives after Suzanne pats him on the head in bed?
I don't remember 🤪
@@MandyCaneLane scroll back and check it out it will make you smile the animation :)
Great reaction 😂😂👍🏽❤️
Loved your reaction to the quasimodo part 😂
🤪
Sidestep: watched the first 2 episodes of Ahsoka and liked your part in it, miss Sabine Wren, you even kept your two coloured long hair for it. Well, at least for 1 1/2 episode after you cut it. Like the short one very much though. Incredible how versatile you are, Mandy
Apologies in advance if you've already seen this, but here is the legend Karl flexing some dramatic acting chops in ITV drama 'The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe' 💪 ruclips.net/video/-I5YLCoTRgA/видео.html
in Suzanne's defence if something doesn't work hit it an some times if fixes it😊
Lunch can be any time if you're grafting 3 pm fine
Imagine it ‘I now pronounce you man & wife, you may now pat the bride on the head’
Also; you fixed a roof!!! How? I need details.
Hey Mandy, you said in the vid that arganitians eat dinner late and Americans eat way early. What time is the norm to eat dinner in Argentina? My Dad is Italian and they also eat late. Sometimes dinner just starts at 9pm lol so was curious if Argentina was the same 😊 love the channel
Hello! They eat around 9 - 10 p.m. here. Restaurants open at 8, but are basically empty for an hour 🤣
That outro was evil lol
Wait what did you want to tell us??
It's not a documentary kidda!
Did I hear you slip into an English accent for a second? 🤣
Love from Liverpool mandy, 💙❤️👍
22.2k, looks neat and tidy which the same cannot be said about your outros☺️
Mandy .. DORIS DAY ! ... "The Black Hills of Dakota " .... et al.
My neighbour popped his head into my lounge yesterday and asked who the sexy voice was. I was watching a previous episode with you :)
34:55 BUT WHAT DID YOU WANT TO TELL US???
If you want to become aqiainted with Doris Day then take a look at a movie called Calamity Jane; she's superb in that.
Duno if you’ll like it as it’s more a kinda lad program than a lass program but inbetweeners reactions? Ever done em? Just realising you’re probs out of recurring British comedy series’s… not sure if you’re looking for more or just enjoy the animated Karl as that is frankly enough of a reason to watch 😂
She has reacted to only the first ep on Patreon. From her having not done any more, I assume she dislikes it.
@@davidz3879fair one was a long shot tbh!
You're so observant 😁
Noon or 1 that's country lunch, or old people's lunch. Not if you are busy metropolitan. We sorts have lunch at 3, 4, 5 even, we don't care.
What were you going to say at the end?
They do cut some sections in these animations
I’m with Karl on the “flumph” tele, I can’t remember the last time I watched normal TV. It’s just full of reality show rubbish. Even the documentary channels are full of “Ancient Aliens” or “UFO’s Declassified”. I can’t be doing with it.
4:43 OR maybe Ricky dont think he has a proper job either, so he doesnt complain about the same stuff? I have no idea thou 😂
OVEN!
34:55 this was evil 😭 just tell us!
