Up until you confessed the tripod took a dive I thought on seeing the closeup, "Oh, that's some kind of tilt shift lens he's using. How's it work without knobs?" What I really am intrigued by though is the colour tones of the images. They look like water colour paintings - quite pleasant.
Thanks Charlie. Yup not so much tilt-shift as tilted-over. The colours are entirely down to the weather, I suspect. It's probably the Adobe Colour setting in Adobe Camera Raw, but I don't do too much in the way of editing, other than a few filters and curves.
I love your work. Photographing a Scottish cemetery is definitely on my bucket list. I'm a Find a Grave volunteer here in Florida, and rarely see anything as interesting as what you have to work with. Well done, and sorry about the lens! 😬
Thanks. I have some even older ones planned for this summer. As for the lens - accidents happen. The insurance replaced it. It was unfortunate but not a problem.
I started visiting old churches / graveyards during lockdown to get out, find it nice and quiet. Sorting out a trip to Norfolk in the next couple of weeks and have several churches on my list to visit. Waiting for the weather to cool down a bit. Excellent video
New subscriber. I walk the old graveyards and abandoned old monuments. Over the years it has saddened me to see what the authorities have neglected to do for the upkeep of the gravestones. I enjoyed the video and look forward to seeing more.
Great spot and shots Dougie, walked there a few weeks ago from Blackness Castle (per the walk in your wee book!) although didn't manage to get to Midhope Castle (next time!) - maybe a good spot for your next shoot? Shame about your lens, hopefully won't curb your enthusiasm!
Cheers Gavin. I thought about going down to Midhope Castle, but I figured that the church was enough. I'm annoyed about the lens, but it's not the end of the world. Thanks for the book review though - much appreciated.
Thank you for a very enjoyable film, you not only give us some lovely images, you take us on a journey by giving us the history of the place aswell. Sorry about your lens
You're very welcome. I haven't done a great deal of history in my recent vlogs - I need to start reintroducing it. The lens was insured, so I got it replaced, and I now have some bungee cord in my bag to anchor the tripod down in windy weather. 😂😂
Ghost to blame for the broken lens? At least it served you well up to now, I'll say hopefully you get it fixed but didn't look too good .... love walking around that graveyard reading about the history of these that are laid to rest there.
I'm sorely tempted to blame the ghosts too. Took me several shots to export the video - it kept creating a random white vignette for no reason whatsoever, and at different places each time I exported. Then it took another three shots to upload to RUclips. Apparently I'm not old enough...
Awesome video and amazing shots. The detail these old churches and graveyards offers never mind the peacefulness is just the best.
Thank you
Great video, love the shots👍Thx for taking us along

Very instructive video. I plan to shoot a cemetery in Maine, the U.S., and now I'm more secure about how to do it. Thanks!
Thanks Lauro, I'm pleased that you found it of use.
You got some good shots there Dougie
Thanks Stuart. The lens got replaced too, fortunately.
So sorry about the broken lens, but you took some lovely photos as always!
Thanks.
Accidents happen. All of my gear is insured, so it was quickly replaced.
Interesting content Doug
Thanks
Enjoy the setting

Greetings from Alabama USA. Just found your channel. Great shots. Have you quit your channel?
Thanks. I haven't done a video in a long time but I'm not ruling out returning to it.
