Yeah he just wavedashed back and jumped lasered. It looks super clean.
Looks like he didn't shoot a retreating laser. The laser that looks kooky is shot forward into Leffen, then as he hits the ground, he turns and shields. I thought it was a reverse laser at first as well, but the animation starts facing to the right, so it couldn't have been. Also, in 0.25x speed, you can see he turns after landing :D
you can do it by jumping while wavedashing back and shooting a laser. you'll be retreating while keeping your front to the opponent. it's a good mix up
Ooooh okay my bad. I was looking at the laser he shot into turnaround shield. That was the one that immediately looked weird to me. Sorry for confusion!
leffens face has always looked scary but this camera angle for this tournament make him a nightmare creature and it scares me badly

I'm a huge mango fan but sometimes you gotta recognise when leffen played incredible and got the win. Mango actually played good this set and it was still 3-0
@@LeaderOfTheRedNinjas leffen definitely played incredible and deserved the win, but mango also miscalculated many times as well like the early side B's. I'm a ppmd fan btw.

Idk, I’ve copped more reverse hit Fsmashes from Falco in my time than the standard hit. Same with Falcon Bair. The opposite edge of those hitboxes launches you backwards.

First, jk i'm not a dweeb.
Truly atrocious commentary. Toph is way overdoing it with the analysis. He gets diverted into long tangents without even reacting to what's going on in the match. Scar barely contributed at all.
In general the duo sounded tired. I've seen them make great commentary elsewhere in the tournament, just not here.
Honestly, I would love a version with just the match and crowd sounds. Sometimes I just want to watch a match without having to mute it if I don't like the commentary.

Different strokes for different folks. Rough to objectively say it’s atrocious. I personally really prefer Toph’s commentary to say EE’s in Ultimate. They’re two opposite ends of the spectrum. Toph is all analysis, minimal personality, EE is a wannabe comedian who doesn’t even pretend to know squat about the game he somehow gets paid to commentate every S-tier of. But a lot of people sing EE’s praises, so. Like I said, different strokes for different folks.
mea culp.a Atrocious might have been a strong word. I still stand by my comment otherwise though. Commentary should be a mix of analysis and actually reacting to what's going on. Commentary should always be in service of the match, not the commentator's ego, whether that's trying to be a comedian or overextending on the analysis.

If you ever get the opportunity to hang out with Toph, you’ll see it’s very much not an ego thing. He’s like that off the mic, too. But I guess I could see how it could come across as him acting like a know-it-all, without that outside context.
mea culp.a Yeah it's not a judgment on him as a person, he seems like a personable guy in general. I just don't think he and Scar were at the top of their game on this match.
For me the takeaway is that I would like to have a commentary-free version of the games uploaded. I get that it's probably not going to happen since I'm likely in the minority and I could just mute it, but sometimes I'd like to enjoy the match and crowd sounds without commentary.

Yeah, sometimes if I’m really disliking commentary- i.e. EE or most Euro “hype” commentators- I will mute the vid and play some classical music in another tab. Weirdly a great combination, lol.
