- amzn.to/3Jhk2Q0 These are some Better Bit Set Boxes, and not your average bit storage. The two ammo boxes were a suggestion from a commenter, and the Dental Bit Holder was something I stumbled on and hoped would arrive for April Fools Day. Wera Joker in for the win on that one.
Get yourself a Blue 100 Bit case. Best deal in tools I've seen in a long time!
On Amazon:
Blue 100 bit case:

Grey 30 bit case:

Denture Bit holding mouth:

Really cool super funny
Bought some for me, network tech work. Fitting stuff in my bags and keeping it compact so I don't have to worry about it missing is a big deal to me.
You could probably glue a thin foam sheet to the top lid of the 'blue' box to eliminate rattle too
The MTM box is FANTASTIC. My LGS carries the 22lr and I never thought to do that. That will let me use my classic boxes just for nutndrivers, extensions, and socket adapters with the modular inserts. I'll be buying a handful of these and organizing. Thanks LBT.
Wera sets including but not limited to the tool check plus or one of the various multibit screwdrivers is my go to for bits. That and the dozens of Felo #2 bit of thanks I got from KC tool. Those are my go to sacrificial bits and I stick one in every bit driver I have. I also have a bunch of various but sets. If I wreck a bit I just stick another one in there although I rarely use bits except in my Gedore silent gear (that thing is so nice) as I rather use the correct screwdriver. Absent the really spendy ones or the really cheap ones, bits seem to be bits. I don’t know.
These boxes are a really good cheap option for storing bits from what I have seen! If you would like something to look into that lets you combine boxes of bit tips with drill bits and nut drivers, as well as putting boxes inside boxes or stacking them with a latching system I recommend looking into the newer style dewalt tough system boxes. It’s definitely not as cheap but it is the solution I found for mass organization and bluk storage with 1 system. I have 8 boxes that can all stack together that are 3 different sizes with more container spread throughout the inside.
Good thread ! Bit storage is a never ending problem ! Pro Tip , before commitment , do a drop test from waist/ breast height !
I 3D printed up a couple of those denture bit holders. One for display in my workshop and the other for my son's workbench at his work. They are a good conversation starter.
I bought the blue box last year and it's absolutely perfect at 1st glance. I wound up NOT using it at all because it doesn't work at all with larger bits. I wanted to make a custom set for the full range of Torx and Hex and the larger sizes of those don't fit. If you're not using any oversize bits it's great.
For future reference caliber is just 1 inch standard so a .50 caliber bullet is half an inch and I figured you would surely know that 1/4 inch bits were .250
Appreciate the followup Doc. I really like those blue ammo boxes for storing all my spare 1" bits; I'm definitely grabbing a few of those. I've seen that denture set on amazon a few times and got a kick out of it. 🙂
Amazon has the red rubber cases available without bits for around $7, so I plan on trying one of those too.
I think they should start marketing some of these for bit holding.
Blue box all the way.
I think that is the best bit holding box
Ty for making these videos. I’ve gone nearly mad trying to find compact storage for my Brownells bits, many of which are 1.5” long. I’ve looked EVERYWHERE. Alas, these ammo cases don’t work for them, as they are too shallow. The one that really broke my heart was the red MTM 17hmr/22mag ammo case. It is a little deeper than the blue case you feature here. The compartments fit the hex shank like a glove, but it is juuust not quite deep enough to close. I’m talkin like 2 or 3mm arrggh. I really wanted the ammo case thing to work, as they are just so nifty and compact, you could potentially store 100 bits in a 3.5 x 3.5” case, and what better place to store gunsmithing bits than in an ammo box. The smallest ammo box that is deep enough to fit these 1.5” bits is .38/.357, but the bits rattle around like crazy. The search continues. If you find anything, please let me know!
Thank you
The wiha ratcheting bit set is the most compact I've used. I carry my tools in a veto backpack so I'm always trying to condense. Doest help with existing bits since it comes with some but I guess you can swap them out. BTW the case is metal and made well
I guess the mini tackle box version is best for me. I got too many size bits so the little space won't work. Oh well. I'll use the milwaukee case until I get fed up with it, and I do NOT like it.
Thanks fir showing I had to get a set false teeth bit kit
Love the dentures!!!
Thanks, I’m buying some of the 100 bit boxes.
Like the jaws. But I’ve had several compression type bit holders and they tend to go loose over time. I wonder how the jaws hold up or how well they grip the bits. It would suck to have the top row all fall out when you pick it up one day
Welp, I ordered it. Couldn't help myself. The dental bit holder, of course.
Good show, mate. Love it
Hello again Doc
Thank you for another Great Video. That blue case is fine for the small bits. How about the longer bits? Again thank you
Got a Neiko 37 hole magnetic bit rack a few weeks ago. Maybe it's ok for a shop toolbox or something stationary but the magnet doesn't have enough beans for a portable situation. Iike in a packout. Looks like that 100 bit case might just fit in a packout side tray.
Thumbed you up.
The tooth thing gives me the creeps. Totally. I do like the .22 box.
Oh man my dad's a dentist and I wish I could get him the dental bot holder 😂 He would love that. Unfortunately seller on Amazon isn't shipping here
I haven't checked so it's possible it's the same person on Amazon but I believe the first person to make and sell these was 3D printing them and selling them on Etsy. This is likely a ripoff of that persons work.
I got a German metabo bit set is is lovely
Nice idea with the ammo boxes, but seriously, are you concerned about the warranty situation on something costing $3?
I went a "bit" cross eyed when he whipped out the caliper to measure a 1/4" bit .
You sound exactly like Bosnianbill the lock picking guy.
What’s the big screen caliper you’re using?
4:54 for the teeth bit holder :)
although its an aussie brand (i think most products r chinese made) but kinchrome has some really nice products including bit cases
I saw the teeth thing on like ali express and was thinking it would be cool for like a dentist but otherwise kinda weird
😂 Very clever!
The jaw one is just cursed …
Ya I guess .22 and .25 are pretty close and the bullet fits in the case so it's probably real close
I prefer to give my money to the local brick-&-mortar bit-driver store for MTM Case-Gard stuff, rather than sending it to Jeff Bezos & Andy Jassy and other anti-bit-driver folks. Plus they have a nice air-conditioned indoor range that I can use to test my bit-drivers and bits. Just sayin'...
I like the jaws bit holder. LOL!! BUT, I NEVER shop online, especially Amazon. So many have lost their jobs because people are too lazy to go to the store.
Where is it made?
Boxes in USA. Red jaws in China.
Boycott amazon
