It used to be with apprenticeships that the company you worked for taught site work conditions ,colleges can teach basic skills plus the more technical skills of arches etc ....a college cannot turn out site ready bricklayers I don't think that was ever the case and it wasn't like it in my day 40 years ago .Infact the reality was you did your apprenticeship then you were either got rid of or you left ,it was then you realised after a few sackings where your game needs to pick up . College is a great start for someone who wants a structured career within construction but it isn't the B all and end all ,its a massive subject inreality . This was a great interview ,it's great to see 2 young fellas who are interested in the game ,it ain't easy in the long run ....
Good for you mate, and yes it is worth it, only if you stick at it, you can make very good money, my advice to you would be to stay fit, eat well, make the job as easy as you can. Just keep watching the likes of Charlie and Izzy you'll learn loads! 😊😊
@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 correct and colleges are doing a bricklayer tech course, so basically these technicians go around doing all the sundries, etc.. ie dpc, insulation, etc.. so removing this element from the bricklayer. if you look at the big pic you know whats coming... fortunately Andy you are lucky being out of it almost, but next gen are on borrowed time.
