Interesting. If I open video in Teams, it opens new Stream. If I select open that folder in Sharepoint (from teams) and then open the same file, it opens old Stream. So the experience is not consistent in that either.
those working hour and location goes back way further than last ignite. They moved it so many time. After google successfully implemented over 18 months ago. Driving me nuts waiting for that change.
Really great call-out on the Stream player (I gave the Stream team that same exact feedback). There's absolutely no reason why there should be two playback experiences especially since almost all the features (chapters, etc.) are the same. Sean is completely wrong about this; when you open a PowerPoint file there's no "preview" experience - they take you straight to the Microsoft branded experience that's most capable.
With the stream thing: It seems you get the full stream player consistently if users encounter the link via a sharepoint page - whether it's a library web part, a link webpart, a hero webpart or just a file webpart. Whatever. If on the other hand they are directly in a Library or OneDrive, then its the preview player - and if you use the three dots to look for the Open option you'll find it's not there, there's only a Preview option - so if you are coming to it from that perspective (or from a link copied from the preview) you need to open it, then use the open > open in stream at that point. So... if you are a comms team managing a site and sharing things via pages, its the full stream experience, and it's no problem. It's only if you are linking people directly to libraries or links obtained from the preview player that you get the preview player. I think at the very least they should be replacing the preview option from the right click/three dots menu in OneDrive and SharePoint and replace with Open > Preview / Open in Stream, so you can at least see there IS a difference, even if the straightforward click is only a preview. *That* would then at least properly put it in line with the way SPO and OneDrive handle other files. but ideally... why do we even need a preview mode? I don't understand why that is useful in the first place.
OMG you called it.. the death of Yammer! But the sad thing is no one is going to say oh why don't you Viva Engage that.. rather then Yammer that..its just not gonna cut it .
RE: Videos - Why not give the consumer the choice on "How do you want to open this video"? I agree with Matt - open a preview (annotated version of file, i.e. gif) or full video (In Stream)
Yammer was a very good name/brand when it launched, contemporaneous to similarly named services Twitter and Chatter. Jive and Slack don't exactly have great connotations either. Of course, less so once acquired by Microsoft and all the IT Pros/Exchange Admins who were so bent out of shape about a product they didn't understand.
On the AI chat issue - Huge user culture change will be required to educate folks on the best way to inquire OR re-hire all the folks laid off so the AI can refer the user to support when question 6 comes up. "Sorry you have reached your question limit, I will refer you to someone smarter than me. A HUMAN."
Loved the insight into Bing/Sydney, and the conversation it sparked. Would've liked to have heard more on your thoughts on the new features rolled out with the Yammer-to-Viva-Engage announcement.
Question - Where can I find out what your streams are dropping? I am in Eastern time zone and would like to plan to catch you live when I can. - Thanks.
Outlook recall will have limits you can only do it up to a certain timeframe and then only to internal recipients. as once it has left exchange no going back. Org explorer is going to need an off switch. Many orgs I have worked with have their official org chart and we know AAD doesn't always reflect an org strucuture correctly or indeed at all if it is not managed properly.
Next Microsoft - Get us out of saying - "Teams Team"; "Teams SharePoint"; "SharePoint Team" - How confusing?
When you go into your team in teams you can teamwork with your team.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Interesting! Thanks for flagging that.

We aren't doing live anymore. We found the streamer to be unreliable. Generally posting at 9:00 am ET on Mondays now.
