So glad I found this channel, as a 22 year old HVAC student it is great to have good reference videos also the humor with the videos make it enjoyable to watch making it easier to learn. Thank You
Awesome job Steve def old school style brings me back to when I was an apprentice working with the real (since retired) seasoned tech. Really nice job. Don't see many guys doing repairs like this anymore
That situation worked out well, Steven. Those old ones, best to take it real easy, which you did. Making repairs without breaking old fittings and stuff. Good job.
No need for compensation. I had some free time, and thought it would be neat seeing them in a video lol. The phrase on the back was tricky to fit, but it's your motto so it had to be there hehehe
I see so many people install these and the fill is to close and it just beats the crap out of the float when they pump fuel into the tank, that is no Bueno. Great video steve! I need to pick up one of those 2inch taps that's a great idea because they do get warped because there welded into the tank
Here in the states several years ago the EPA made a change, all off road machines must use ultra low sulphur diesel fuel and all number 2 oil burners in heating systems must use ultra low sulphur fuel dyed red. The only difference in price between highway fuel and off road is the taxes and the older off-road machines don't like the new crappy diesel. I know one guy still running a 1944 ex US Army Cat D-8 cable dozer. The owner operator is 89 and still works every day. One job I was hauling in gravel to him and he was back blading the gravel to final grade when a Cat 144 computerized grader showed up to do the final grade. After four passes he pulled over and called the low bed to come pick him up. The old guy on the dozer according to the computer on the 144 said there wasn't any need to adjust anything there. And he final grades with the dozer in 4th gear.
oh mamma that's some scary shit , trying to get a full turn out of that filter assembly , could get real nasty fast , had me biting my nails !!!! another fine job steve
+dennis postek i am not a fan of working on old piping on tanks but it had to be done .the webster pumps were good pumps .pumped real good ,buy no screen in pump
how long will 150 gallons last? - im in australia and heating oil (in my area atleast) is almost unheard of - we burn firewood and use about 8-9 m3 of redgum per year
The nozzles have a flow rating. The size of the unit usually calls for a higher flow nozzle. The outside temp determines unit run time. In my area (mid-Atlantic), it is 5 gal / day. average. In Steve's area, my guess is at least 8 per day average.
+mitchellpurelife running the tap in there helps to straighten out the roundness of welded thread adapter. seeing there was a leak i always like to do it like this
nice work steve. like you i mark things with a marker (or a sharp screwdriver ) to make items straight or plumb. NICE editing, I bet you do more editing then any of my channels!
lmao," No oil, maybe thats why it aint running" you licked out no breaks when you tightened that filter assembly that was loose.. nah, lets call it skill , and not luck you may need to put on that salesman hat before next heating season and install those folks new boiler and new tank.. great video. great job bug blue glove thumbs up
+nate this was a duplex and they are renters. i am sure they will get a few more years out of this set up.most people will not upgrade unless they have to . and spend the money
how long would 550gal of heating oil last - and how much per gallon does it cost? - i heard diesel is cheaper because its less refined - here in australia heating oil is almost unheard of
I notice you rarely have a soot vac in your videos, do you only brush and vacuum if they are close to being plugged? Video brings back memories, however I now work for a major supply house in New England.
+eastcoastHVACtech i vacuum if its needed . if its been running clean it might not be nessecery. to vac ,,my videos are real world situations not class room bull .a lot of these jobs i was there last year and set the burner up properly so they run clean . with out any soot build up.
steven lavimoniere I did some research on them and steel boiler manufacturers will tell you they are better because they won't leak (sections are welded) and they are better at dealing with thermal shock, so they are better for applications where the return water is low temperature
Once when I was away on business, my wife had to call the oil company because of no heat. Turns out there was a clogged nipple at tank outlet before shutoff valve. They replaced nipple. How did they do that with tank of oil? Some kind of vacumnn device? Sounds like that may be a 2 man job. Also, my filter is ot burner not at tank. Been this way for 15 years, and not had many issues. Could I put a filter at tank outlet at leave the existing one at burner?
oo you can use a vac if the tank is half full stick the hose in supply fill out side and block the vent with a rag ,pull a vac on tank .i have done it a few times i was in a jam like breaking a nipple off at bottom of tank ect .
Nice one Steven. Did you ask the owner why they waited seven years for another cleaning? For that nipple on the tank to leak, wouldn't the oil company have to overfill the tank to get oil out of the treads that high in the tank? One more question, was Baby in the truck or down in the basement? LOL!!!
LMAO wish i owned that pipe dope company with guys like him around... way to bury the threads, was it tight enough? .... pipe dope and thread filings all into the tank!
So glad I found this channel, as a 22 year old HVAC student it is great to have good reference videos also the humor with the videos make it enjoyable to watch making it easier to learn. Thank You

No need for compensation. I had some free time, and thought it would be neat seeing them in a video lol. The phrase on the back was tricky to fit, but it's your motto so it had to be there hehehe

Not at all. That's why I sent three.

+Carlos Raxon that should fix the oil leaks
Another great one! Is the rethreading, as you did, important for fixing the thread leaks? Thanks Steve.
+mitchellpurelife running the tap in there helps to straighten out the roundness of welded thread adapter. seeing there was a leak i always like to do it like this
+steven lavimoniere Thank you for the tech tip Steve!

lmao," No oil, maybe thats why it aint running"

+Jose Corona thanks for watching
Steve, why do people buy steel boilers? It seems to me they just don't perform as well as a cast iron boiler
+Joe Bal price there cheaper
steven lavimoniere I did some research on them and steel boiler manufacturers will tell you they are better because they won't leak (sections are welded) and they are better at dealing with thermal shock, so they are better for applications where the return water is low temperature
Great video Steve
oooooh mamma steve is at it again
+dklucas1 yaaaaaaaaaa mama steve fixed it like a real working man mama lol
Next level Steve great job
+Harry Dickson next level lol
can the vent whistle be cleaned thru tank sight glass by lifting the gauge and spraying a little brake cleaner around the whistle? might unstick it?
That's was on the level next. Looks like they abandoned the tankless for electric. Must be cheaper then oil.
+Rob HVAC ya kinda odd they would do that . electric does cost more to run .but a tank is better then a tankless coil any day .oil is low right now .
very good work! Have you ever made a video of your heating system at home? would like to see your setup!
+hllywd964 my house is old i bought it when i was 18 lol 51 now so she is a bit out dated.not the best system to video .its dew for replacement .

Could I put a filter at tank outlet at leave the existing one at burner?
+Joe Bal they prbley blow the oil line back into tank with a c.o. charge thats what i would do .to clear blockage
The nipple has changed so they used some other method. I'm pretty sure it was vacuum, so I wonder what that setup looked like.
oo you can use a vac if the tank is half full stick the hose in supply fill out side and block the vent with a rag ,pull a vac on tank .i have done it a few times i was in a jam like breaking a nipple off at bottom of tank ect .
Great video. I know if it was me tightening the fittings at the tank it would of broke lol.
+Mike Jones it could of broken off at any time . lol i got lucky
I like how you work mama!!
+Glen Harmon thanks
Wow ,that looks like a pain in the kester, only 8 yrs yep just put it on the next guy, whew
Nice one Steven. Did you ask the owner why they waited seven years for another cleaning? One more question, was Baby in the truck or down in the basement? LOL!!!
+Brad1237202 baby was not in the truck at this time ,older videos .no the thread will leak offen .from the top of the tanks
