    I see so many people install these and the fill is to close and it just beats the crap out of the float when they pump fuel into the tank, that is no Bueno. Great video steve! I need to pick up one of those 2inch taps that's a great idea because they do get warped because there welded into the tank

    Here in the states several years ago the EPA made a change, all off road machines must use ultra low sulphur diesel fuel and all number 2 oil burners in heating systems must use ultra low sulphur fuel dyed red. The only difference in price between highway fuel and off road is the taxes and the older off-road machines don't like the new crappy diesel. I know one guy still running a 1944 ex US Army Cat D-8 cable dozer. The owner operator is 89 and still works every day. One job I was hauling in gravel to him and he was back blading the gravel to final grade when a Cat 144 computerized grader showed up to do the final grade. After four passes he pulled over and called the low bed to come pick him up. The old guy on the dozer according to the computer on the 144 said there wasn't any need to adjust anything there.
    And he final grades with the dozer in 4th gear.

    how long will 150 gallons last? - im in australia and heating oil (in my area atleast) is almost unheard of - we burn firewood and use about 8-9 m3 of redgum per year

    • @65csx83
      @65csx83 3 года назад +1

      The nozzles have a flow rating. The size of the unit usually calls for a higher flow nozzle. The outside temp determines unit run time. In my area (mid-Atlantic), it is 5 gal / day. average. In Steve's area, my guess is at least 8 per day average.

      how long would 550gal of heating oil last - and how much per gallon does it cost? - i heard diesel is cheaper because its less refined - here in australia heating oil is almost unheard of

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад +1

      +eastcoastHVACtech i vacuum if its needed . if its been running clean it might not be nessecery. to vac ,,my videos are real world situations not class room bull .a lot of these jobs i was there last year and set the burner up properly so they run clean . with out any soot build up.

    Steve, why do people buy steel boilers? It seems to me they just don't perform as well as a cast iron boiler

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад +1

      +Joe Bal price there cheaper

    • @joebal9044
      @joebal9044 9 лет назад +2

      steven lavimoniere I did some research on them and steel boiler manufacturers will tell you they are better because they won't leak (sections are welded) and they are better at dealing with thermal shock, so they are better for applications where the return water is low temperature

    can the vent whistle be cleaned thru tank sight glass by lifting the gauge and spraying a little brake cleaner around the whistle? might unstick it?

  • @RobHVAC
    @RobHVAC 9 лет назад +4

    That's was on the level next. Looks like they abandoned the tankless for electric. Must be cheaper then oil.

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад +2

      +Rob HVAC ya kinda odd they would do that . electric does cost more to run .but a tank is better then a tankless coil any day .oil is low right now .

    Once when I was away on business, my wife had to call the oil company because of no heat. Turns out there was a clogged nipple at tank outlet before shutoff valve. They replaced nipple. How did they do that with tank of oil? Some kind of vacumnn device? Sounds like that may be a 2 man job. Also, my filter is ot burner not at tank. Been this way for 15 years, and not had many issues. Could I put a filter at tank outlet at leave the existing one at burner?

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад

      +Joe Bal they prbley blow the oil line back into tank with a c.o. charge thats what i would do .to clear blockage

    • @joebal9044
      @joebal9044 9 лет назад +1

      The nipple has changed so they used some other method. I'm pretty sure it was vacuum, so I wonder what that setup looked like.

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад +1

      oo you can use a vac if the tank is half full stick the hose in supply fill out side and block the vent with a rag ,pull a vac on tank .i have done it a few times i was in a jam like breaking a nipple off at bottom of tank ect .

  • @MikeJones-ch3sj

    @Brad1237202 9 лет назад +2

    Nice one Steven. Did you ask the owner why they waited seven years for another cleaning? For that nipple on the tank to leak, wouldn't the oil company have to overfill the tank to get oil out of the treads that high in the tank? One more question, was Baby in the truck or down in the basement? LOL!!!

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  9 лет назад +1

      +Brad1237202 baby was not in the truck at this time ,older videos .no the thread will leak offen .from the top of the tanks
