Thank you for always considering those of us who have hands that don’t love small and repetitive movements! I’ll definitely look into getting some of those needles as I love making bracelets (for me and my dolls!)
Oh, for sure! I've been a sign language interpreter for 25 years. A lot of my work puts me at higher risk for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and repetitive stress injuries - however we can make things easier, I'm here for it.
Thank you so much for this video! I love "HOW TO" videos! I go back and watch your NOSE PIERCING video and HOW TO MAKE EARRINGS video to refresh my memory! I was just at Joann's today buying more fabric. Gee,I guess I will have to back again to get bracket supplies! Can hardly wait to make some bracelets!
Thank you so very much. I've been doing some jewelry, and it's been hard, and you just made it so simple. I can't wait to get the tools that i'm gonna need to be able to make it a lot easier for myself again.Thank you so much. I can't wait for the next video. You are awesome.
I'm so glad it's helpful. If you change to this approach I'd love to know how it goes for you - be sure to come back to the video to comment with an update :)
I'm going to have to make an order on Joanns website and pick up a couple of these items. I haven't made any doll bracelets in months, and your way of making them is so quick and easy. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for sharing. I just bought some glass faceted beads and that stretchy plastic elastic from Michael’s and made some bracelets for my dolls. I didn’t use a needle and it took forever! I’m going to look for all the things you showed us on Joann’s website. 😊
It definitely makes the process easier and faster! I hesitated to make this because on the one hand, beaded doll bracelets are pretty basic. But also...I've tweaked it and found a way I think not everyone was aware of, so why not share, right?
I’ve made bracelets for years and never knew about those cool needles you have. I usually just string beads in one at a time and I can only get beads with a hole big enough to get the elastic through.
A beading needle!! I am definitely going to pick one up. I tried once to make some doll bracelets using what I had, some beads and of all things floral wire, thinking I could bend it into shape, 😂 it was not a success. I didn’t want to use up my sewing elastic, I think was my reasoning at the time. PS I hope you enjoyed the Titanic exhibit! 😂 I saw it years ago in Las Vegas.
Floral wire! 😂 I can't imagine trying to make doll bracelets with that (but it's great for doll flower crowns). If you try some of these supplies/approaches, I'd love to know your thoughts. And the titannic exhibit was really nice. We were glad we didn't take our little one bc I think she would have been a bit bored, but we found it really interesting!
I started making Taylor swift bracelet for my dolls and I love making them! I found that the first elastic you showed was so hard to tie ( could be user error😂) but I switched to something like the second elastic you have and it works sooooo much better! Thanks for sharing this video
I'd found the same thing. Even with a square knot, it would sometimes not 'stick' and then come undone. I was thinking Kristie used it and was excited to see how she made it stay!
Thank you so much! I just started making doll jewelry this week so your video is very timely and helpful. Would definitely be interested in more videos like this in the future.
You're welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful - I have so many ideas, so more videos are definitely in the works! In the meantime, I have a doll earring video that's worth watching if you haven't seen it yet (just go to the channel and search for "earring").
Thanks so much! I’ve been slowly making bracelets with that stretchy plastic and a tweezer type tool. This is so much faster and I like the variety of beads in those packs. Gotta make my way to Joann soon.
It really does make it much faster! And for me (a sign language interpreter for 25+ years), reducing repetitive tiny movements like that is a big deal.
I'm glad it's helpful! I made some doll necklaces last night while watching a movie. The dolls are not only better dressed than me - they're also better accessorized lol.
Great idea and excellence shortcut. I have arthritis in my hand so I definitely be going for the shortcut. Just an FYI, pay attention to your Joanne’s. You know they filed bankruptcy a second time this time the liquidator that was at their heels. The last time they went through bankruptcy court is going to file to get them to put them out of business by liquidation. I can’t think of the name it’s like brown Brothers. I know it’s a color and brothers. But they’re starting to close stores in very unique areas and of course the people that had the great stores are sad that the great stores are closing and the people that are trying to still shop at the Joanne’s that aren’t as nice anymore or having a very unfortunate time. Thanks again for the good hack.
I'm glad you found the shortcuts helpful. And it's sad about JoAnn. I actually filmed this a few months ago and I don't think the second bankruptcy had been announced yet. We were just talking about the bankruptcy and pending closings the other day. It'll be a sad day to lose those stores!!
I'm so glad. A moment of honesty? I get discouraged when I see the view count for videos like this are SO much lower than for haul videos. But the comments are heartening. Fewer people watch them, but those who do are so kind and genuinely appreciative. And at the end of the day, this channel is about connection and supporting each other in the JOY we get from our dolls, so those comments matter more than the number of views.
lol. Yesterday your sister and I were putting on a show for Grace. She said, "We need different names" and I chose Starlight Fantasy (trying to match her freak preemptively). She chose...Kate. Go figure.
Not off the top of my head, but we have a Josefina. I can play around and see. Will you nudge me with another (new) comment on this video if I don't reply to this one in a day or two? TY!
Thanks so much for this video!! This is a huge help! I have two questions. First: Do you think the thinner elastic will lose its elasticity sooner than the plasticky one? I’d like something that will hold its shape for a long time. Second: Do you know what the length is between your two marks on your paper? It would help me to mark it on my paper. I’m excited to get the tools and supplies and get started!
@@agtakesoverSorry, I don’t know why it did this. I thought I hit send, but my comment was showing as unsent so I hit send again. I think my phone is having issues. 🙄
The brand I bought is Hildie Jo, but in general just look for .5mm silver elastic cord. And you can get the beads elsewhere. I don't support Hobby Lobby so I don't know about their selection, but I know Michaels has some and you can find them online.

I'm glad it was helpful. First, I'm not at all worried about the elastic wearing out too quickly. I think it will last a LONG time and I feel safer stretching it than I do my other bracelets. Second, the marks I showed were *just shy* of 3.5 inches. Happy jewelry-making!!

Nice instructions and tips. I always think your dolls look so put together, and the jewelry is a big part of that. Thanks for sharing!
Aw, thanks - they're always SO much more put together than I am lol.

I don't think it's user error. That plastic elastic IS harder to tie (and the knot is a bit bulkier).
I'd found the same thing. Even with a square knot, it would sometimes not 'stick' and then come undone. I was thinking Kristie used it and was excited to see how she made it stay!

speedle needle is an incredible name, you should name one of the dolls that

Very cool. I know I don’t have the dexterity for this though. I would be dropping beads left and right. 😂
Lucky for you, you know people ;-)
Do you have any suggestions on how to to make dangling earrings to attach to Josephina earrings that can be removed

What is the elastic and needle you use and can you get the beads somewhere else since Joan places are closing
