It's good to try different things. This will be quick and easy for you when your wrist is sore. These boards with seats are popular with people who want to get out on the water but can't stand up on a board.

@@janets3549 for a man that thinks he only do one thing I do a lot of different things😂
Best thing that this is light, it not as fast as kayak but will be really good in backyard.
Yes, also here a lot of people sit and paddle on the board. Not so often with a seat.🤗

My partner and I tried this sort of seat on our SUP, but later we decided to go with a low-sitting aluminum frame kayak seat, I guess intended for fishing? Ours is made by NRS, but I'm sure there are others out there. We found the aluminum frame seat MUCH more comfortable, mainly from better back support. Of course, not the same as a proper kayak but it's quite comfy (it would be extra great if someone could come up with a good generic footrest solution!). We can secure the seat well on our SUP that has the extra D rings, but even without them we just run a flat cinch strap underneath the board and it holds great given the solid frame. Of course, the seat won't fold up as compactly as a fabric-only seat and is a bit heavier (adds 2.5 kg). Tradeoffs as always. Food for thought :-)

Hi, I also been locking on aluminum kayak seat but want something light that also is easy to fold. Kayak seat in aluminum looks really good. I´m planning on the same trip, both stand and sit, not for fishing, just paddling. Maybe it might not be used so much, this is might not always be the best option, also kayaking, so need to decided for each trip if it's going to be kayaking or paddle boarding, board with or without a seat, so a lot of options. Do you fish with your sup and kayak seat, why not a sit on top kayak?

@@danerik.westerlind Yes, for sure it isn't as light and compact as a fabric seat. I don't fish actually - it's not really my thing. The seat we got does fold up pretty small'ish, partly because it is so low, which is nice. I do also have a kayak and this SUP + seat certainly isn't a replacement for the kayak. It's just sometimes nice to have the seat + SUP to be able to make the decision in the moment and mix things on the fly depending on my mood and the conditions (when there isn't room to take both a SUP and kayak). It's also really easy to flip the seat up/down while paddling, to it sometimes means stand up paddling with the wind and sitting down to kayak paddle against the wind. Maybe it looks a little silly, but so be it 🙂

When disasabling the seat, It is much easier to leave it locked to the back and release it from the front.
Then push the seat back and you'll have room to stand up. Won't have to be doing yoga😂

Reassuring that there was fika after the trip! Nice with the footrest, I think that's the first time I see that with a SUP kayak seat. Provides some nice options if you're out for a long trip with your SUP, I guess.

Fika is the best!🙌 Yes that will be the first time. I have tried a more simple kayak seat for sup some years ago. This is much better. Will be good for me to choose depending of how my wrist feels.🤗

Ha! I made same mistake ordering same from same supplier before this video was made, but after testing it I am opting without any kayak seat, but only footrests, so I got Stardupp Kayak footrests (just used knot for connecting to sup )
With only footrests allow you to switch standup and kayak mode ( just cary both paddles )
Another I find Greenland paddle much better for sup then euro blade as you can have it closer to sup and higher angle, also you can use rotation more as you are not hitting sup.
Also for turning sup is easier as you can extend Greenland paddle on one side only and you turn easier.
I used with same board just 30x12 and area where I was sitting was not wet, so don’t see point of kayak seat. Even when kayaking real kayak I never really touch seat with my back, it is all leg work.
    Tnx

Oh, another comment with someone that bought from the same store. Just like you both on this setup and in my ordinary kayak, I don't touch the seat with my back, only when I'm relaxing. I also planning to have two paddles with me, will I use it a lot, I might buy the starboards kayak blade, so I can easy switch. I have tested without seat before, but it hurts a lot for me, seems like I need this 5cm, so much butt is little higher. I have a Greenland paddle, I will test my paddle board with kayak seat and the Greenland paddle. Thanks for all input and tips!

You can use much smaller fin on the same board (or even no fin at all) when you kayak boarding compare to stand up paddleing. Because of two side kayak strokes tracking will be ok, will be slightly faster (less drag) and turns easier, so handling would be similar to your kayak. Based on my experience, fin sizes can affect the board behaviour a lot...

I ordered the same kayak seat from the same store and also received it without foot rest. After checking with Starboard, it turned out that this was the old (2023) model. The 2024 model comes with foot rest, but the 2023 version does not. I don't know if there are more differences between the versions. I sent mine back as I found the back rest too short. This made paddling uncomfortable.
I have the Touring 11'6” x 29“ and the 12'6” x 30”, both in Deluxe Lite. I prefer the 12'6” because the glide is a lot better, while the weight is barely higher. Also, the secondary stability seems much better.

Thanks really good to know!🤗 I will keep mine and maybe buy the set when it comes in some of the store if I continue to use the kayak seat. Seems like Starboard have problem getting there stuff to stores in Europe because it so little of 2024 in stock.🤔
