the middle click is an old school technique that I used since win 7 or maybe XP
XP for me. Firefox has had it forever.
Read the description guys, just saying
Same as Windows + Arrow key
you can also click Ctrl + Left Click Mouse to open a new window :)
@@genrai why...
7:10 you see he's a former apple genius when he's excited about middle click opening new tabs lol
Id rather ctrl+click 🤷🏻♂️
@@bikeinmotion so you'd rather do more work.
@@QueenStewds well my left hand is always resting on my keyboard. Its more work to move the finger on the right hand then to use both hands :P
Middle click works on win 10…
@@coreylee36 yeah lmao this has been on windows for years how are people barely learning this
These are mostly tips for older versions of Windows that have been around for ages.
dude, it is for the new audiences.. Many of my friends didn't know 80% of these basic features. And even for me, I have been viewing all these tips since 2015, even I don't mind to even revise these tips.
@@AngkelBee Doesn't change the fact those just aren't Windows 11 tips. Might as well include folder creation as a Windows 11 tip at this point.
@@AngkelBee These tips are more for people who don't know the difference between RAM and storage. Not the audience of this channel.
He just said it in the first place
@@czarkowskipawelyt true! lmfao
Many of these already exist in Windows 10 but I guess that makes me a power user
As revenue most likely
Not drooling on yourself? Power user
Yeah, really weird video. Did they not know most of this is present in Windows 10? Are they so out of ideas for videos?
nope. I am far from a power user and I thought all of these were common knowledge.
0:43 🤦🏿♂️
The middle click thing has been on old versions FOREVER. Ctrl+Shift+ESC? Really? Lol. Whats next? You're gonna advise Winkey+Shift+S?
IKR! I am shocked how little people know about their computers
Man, a lot of these "new features" already exists in W10 like clipboard history, middle click to open tabs, taskbar keys, shake to close inactive windows, and those calculators and currency/converters.
It's just they're rarely used so they were overlooked. I personally never used clipboard history.
No, they already exist in Windows 7 or Windows XP.
Even in sticky notes it exists through the clouds
@9:30 - It's not a 'tip', those two commands do different things. Ctrl+Alt+Del actually sends a system interrupt message as part of its process (a function that dates back all the way to IBM PC era) and the 'esc' method doesn't, so it's actually better to use the 'old' way to deal with some crashing programs as it interrupts their actions and can fix certain lockups.
Middle click, task manager shortcut and shaking windows are already a thing in windows 10...
To add to that: Ctrl+Shift+ESC to open task manager is also already a thing in Win10.
I think some of them were in Windows 7
I've been using middle click for over 10 years now. Yes it works on Vista too.
clipboard history too...
I'm started laughing my ass off at middle mouse click
The Middle Click is a function that's been around since XP. Here's a trick that you might find useful: use the middle click on the back and refresh buttons on your browser.
huh never thought to try that. Neatto
Middle click is so powerful. On laptops, ever since Windows Precision Drivers allowed customization of clicks, using three finger clicks as middle clicks makes navigating so much easier.
Also surprised people never knew about Ctrl+Shift+Esc, and Windows+Shift+S, though now you can customize print screen to automatically be snippet as well.
Chromium Edge has been heavily slept on. I now use it as my main browser after setting it up like my chrome. Its so much cleaner now and you can use the same add-ons and themes anyway. Also better integrated on multiple devices than chrome was.
All good and fine but lots of these if not all are available on Win 10 as well...
The only thing shown that are NEW in Windows 11 are:
- Improvement to dictation and WSL (but the 95% of those feature are already on Win10)
- Widgets
- More presets for snapping windows
Everything else is possible in Windows 10, some are even possible in Windows 7
They mention that in the description and in the first minute of the video.
All I want is a god damn clock on every task bar for multi monitor setups.. They added it with a win10 update, and now with win11 it's gone again. Bloody hell microsoft.
Also shift-clicking applications no longer opens multiples of the same application, super annoying for when you wanna open multiple explorer windows when moving stuff around.
middle click/mouse wheel will open a second copy of application.
@@juts89 you my dude, deserve a medal. 😁👍🏻
I'm sticking with windows 10 until it expires in 2025
This thing about a second clock needs to be fixed. It’s driving me crazy.
If you like multiple explorer windows for copying stuff you also might like free file manager Q-dir.
There is a link to access an official but free version of the HEVC codec for the W10/11 video player. It's hidden in the Microsoft store but it's there. Barnacules made a video about it a long time ago about it so shoutout to him. Still it's stupid that Microsoft won't give out the free codec right away.
Most of the shortcuts shown are just brought forward from Windows 10, but are interesting nonetheless for someone that's not really into PCs. One useful one is CTRL + Start + arrows to scroll through the various desktops and Start + TAB to access them and re-arrange Windows between them.
REALLY good to see MS roll back some Win11 changes with new configurations after the update.
I'll just stick to win 10 until Microsoft improve win 11 😅
Yeah, I'm going to give it 6 months to a year. Hopefully look less Mac-like.
@@georgejones5019 yeah it’s really form>function
Microsoft still needs to improve Windows 10
I wish the video had some more power user tips and tricks, but great video and definitely need to see more of you two doing videos together! Personally been on the beta for the last couple months and it runs so damn good, that my home gaming pc, laptop & work pc are all on 11. I seemed to have a decent performance increase as well!
Holy, thank you so much! I didn't know about voice recognition, but now I'm going to use it every single day. Actually, I'm just typing this with the voice recognition right now. Absolutely amazing, thank you. Again.
man it's always a fun video when this duo appears, my fav feature is WSL and gui. really nice for development
Love how Windows 11 looks and animates. A well overdue facelift to make it more modern and pleasant to use.
You may be interested in giving Shift Right click (SRC) a try for extra options in explorer - SRC on a file? You can copy the path to the file, say for command line purposes. SRC on a folder? You can open command line in that folder. SRC on program in taskbar? Old right click menu with maximise/minimise/move (especially handy when the top of a window goes above the top your monitor and you can't move it otherwise)
The "new" Windows 11 features don't outweigh the aggravation. I'm sticking with 10 for a while... at least until 11 matures a bit.
The internet requirement even for the pro version is the deal breaker for me. You can't do air gap security if the OS has to call home every so often.
Who would use Windows for "air gap security" in the first place....
@@murtadha96 Windows is completely secure when it has no networking. ;) I am working on updating the code so it's portable so it can run on linux.
hold up. I didn't connected windows 11 to wifi when it was being set up. I used local account and it let me install it.
@@brokenlawshaw go into the bios and set the date to next year.
Really good video. I was super confused with some changes. Especially task manager. This video helped a lot
They are changing 100 things that you can already do easily in 99 cases, and making it take more key presses or having to go through more menus to get to now. Lame.
Whats with all the pornographic usernames replying to my comment??! RUclips is trash now.
Simple enhancement to the context menu shenanigans... move 'Show More Options' to the 2nd position from the top (closer to the cursor location) and make it it a hover action to popup the old context menu to the left or right (wherever there is room)
This was so much fun, and so much useful info! Thanks guys.
At the moment there is not a single reason for me to switch to 11.
Speaking of one thing that's improved in Windows 11 (and ties well with your sponsor) - the Dolby Atmos support for headphones now has instant profile switching via the app! I bought the Corsair HS80, and installed Windows 11. I noticed that the Dolby Atmos app no longer has an Apply button, and the changes between profiles are instantaneous and stutter-free!
Interesting video guys! Upgraded to win11pro once I had figured out mbr2gpt and secure boot! So looking forward to trying your tips. For novices like me these ideas are great. Thank you and stay safe.
win+shift+s is my favourite shortcut that was added in win10. Some of the shortcuts you mentioned have been around for a long time; shake for example was introduced with Windows 7!
For multiple monitors you can further move windows with shift+windows+arrows
I hope I remember this tip because it's amazing and I use 4 monitors for work
Thank you! Sometimes im too lazy to turn of my 2nd monitor and it's absolute pain to get the Windows open them in the main monitor when they were last used in the 2nd one
Wow, i loved this video, so much info in few minutes. 👍🏻
I switched my surface to windows 11, leaving my gaming desktop on 10. So far what I like is that Windows boots faster and seems snappier on the Surface (i5 Pro 7) and the new control center layout and that’s about it. Otherwise it seems like changes for the sake of change rather than genuinely better interface.
I use the calculator so many times and never know about those options, lol sad. The dictation on the notepad is neat.
Something i’m really hating of w11: i use 2 screens for work and the centered start (i prefer launching programs with the search function and having the search bar in the middle of the screen is better in my opinion), but i can’t remove the start icon from the second monitor taskbar, It’s useless! If i click on it the menu is opened in the main monitor… i could remove the taskbar but since i need to have both horizzontal it would create inconsistency in the visualizations… just put the option to remove it from secondary monitor, it annoyed me even with w10, but with the centered icon It’s worse than before
If you would have installed windows 11 with only one monitor, then plugged in your second one, the start icon would be on the first monitor.
Excellent video guys! Learnt a lot there. Keep it up
So few people know about the right-click Start menu. Soooo useful. Deserves more attention.
Miiiiddddllllleeeee CLICK baby! Never knew about that - LOVE it! (And yes, all the other great tips too but oh! That middle click - how cool is THAT?)
As many say below, most tips aren't "windows 11 exclusive" but a funny little trick i saw at 2:58 was when they type "ettings" it will still show "Settings"!! Finally no more unwanted accidental bing searches
Thanks for the intro to Middle click!
I just hate that I can't use drag and drop files into my programs anymore 😕
So what I learned from this video is to stay at 10. HEVC paid extension? Get VLC. Need better snap layouts? Get PowerToys. Anything else is just a gimmick or them trying to reinvent the wheel.
Great video, thanks for the info. I'll be watching this again when I get windows 11. And damn that laptop's lid shakes so much lol, definitely one to skip
Thanks guys for sharing those tips. Would be great to let a lot of our audience know that some of these features are either turn off by default. Will require you to turn on in the settings. Transitions can also seem less fluid your system might be different. I found on high refresh rate display it is smooth as butter. Last start up apps might be affected by the Xbox game experience this is not needed on my work laptop so be sure to change your start up behavior.
Is there an option to set up your computer (assuming desktop) to not use tablet options? Maybe that would allow for the right click options again?
I did a fresh install of Windows 11 on my laptop to give it a try, I'll wait a while before installing it on my main system though.
the middle cick thing also works on the windows tasbar to open more of the same program, and when hovering a program preview, middle click wil close the program
A major reason people are feeling stress about the centered taskbar is it is worse UI than having the start menu in the corner. When moving for the start menu, users don't need to worry about overshooting it if it sits in the corner, they just need to flick the mouse in its general direction and the boundaries of the screen keeps the cursor over the start menu making it a quick motion without fine motor movement. The further away from a hard boundary a widget like the start menu is located, the more fine motor control is required by the user to make sure they hit their target. This does have an effect on the user's feelings of stress over time.
I like the extra spacing
The WSL command made my day! THX. Jim
Updated to 11 on my test PC, reverted it back to 10 after 1 day. Gonna wait for stuff to be sorted for 2022.
If I in any way have my hand on the keyboard I find ctrl+left click a lot more intuitive to use than middle click. Pressing the wheel down just doesn't feel like a real button.
What is the remedy for no longer being able to create groups and folders of pinned shortcuts in Start?
the calculator thing has been on win10 for a very long time now...I use the currency converter a lot.
that middle click trick .. I've been using it from Win 7.. such a useful one
obviously you need to be using microsoft accounts (instead of offline accounts like i keep insisting on using) for cloud linking copy pasta to work. But that's a really cool concept that saves on having to configure share files or whatnot
I still like to do it the old school way and I have signal/telegram installed for that purpose (copying things from my phone mostly) but it's cool that it is seamlessly integrated in W11
Is there a full screen start menu.
I actually started using it and my desktop is beautifully spotless.
Win+z opens up the snaps layout drop down on programs that will not show it when hovering over the maximize button.
i need help guys, since i update to windows 11 my killer prioritization engine become really slow for web(chrome and edge). i found out that when i turn it off my connection becomes stable.
Well,
I'm on Windows 11 now. Few things to note:
New Snipping tool, old one did not work after upgrade. It is in Apps.
Task Bar can't be resized. Have to add day of week to clock manually.
Overall I like it. Task bar trick will help. CTRL, Shift, Esc. Tricky to find apps. Start menu should have a classic option. OS needs work. Just a lot of convenience items missing. Resizing Task bar, Start menu has 2 pages, Day of week does not show with control panel hacks. We should not be changing advanced things with Registry Editor, Should be optional, like start menu. We may need more than one line of icons in the taskbar. Adjustability is gone.
For me, is seeing wayland finally working on wsl, although I still cannot open gnome sessions entirely, but individual apps and flatpak apps works with fractional scaling
I need a tip on how to add seconds on the Windows 11 taskbar clock
Things in the video already on windows 10. Middle-click to open link in a new tab, Ctrl+Shift+Esc, and calculator converters.
More than anything, the right click menu is a snag for me going to Windows 11. I have to try that middle click thing.
Windows 11 got most of it redesign, It looks good .working great for me . pretty happy with it
4:14 best list reference. These are all great
the only comment worth my approval.
Thanks for those Tips guys. I found some very useful, like the icon spacing. So far I'm finding Win 11 fine, except these things I'm getting use to. My Tip, is for those of us that have to change sound systems (like headphones to speakers), is that you have to click on the speaker symbol on the task bar, then click on the little right arrow to the right of the volume slider, and you are presented with a list of available sound systems. One more click than what was needed in Win10, but fairly clean.
what is the smart watch you wear out of curiosity the huawei fit?
I have a problem ever since I’ve upgraded to windows 11, I can’t get in the bios. Does anyone having the same issue as this one? Tried everything but during startup/restarting the pc it just takes its time and gets to the desktop immediately
how to group the similar icons in taskbar
I had to registry patch my i7700k PC to get windows 11 iso installed, and it worked, and I'm having zero problems (shocker). my only grief in addition to what you guys said is the audio selection output menu. Before I could switch right my headphones to speakers right from the task bar. Now I have to open sound mixer to do it. not a huge deal, but a step back. there is a bunch more creepy privacy stuff, like that "recommended menu" that cannot be hidden, which thankfully the app "Shut up windows" can disable with a host of other stuff. That app is the only reason I continue to use this OS
beyond that, I'm really enjoying the cleaned up settings / control panel and overall aesthetic. it feels more like a Windows 10 creator update than an OS upgrade
You can also use middle click to close the Tabs its pretty easy
I completely agree with the explorer tabs thing, I was really hoping for that. The other annoying thing is how you can't just unhide all items in the system tray. Each time a new one comes up you have to enable it. It's quite annoying. Other than those two gripes I am enjoying Windows 11.
this video was amazing. i havent switched to 11 yet still seeing how the experience/performance is but def saving this for later
The experience/ performance is bad/ worse than win 10. No reason to upgrade IMO
Clipboard history screen was always in win 10 but it didn't allow you to pit the files in there, the emojis, also task manager, I like keyboard shortcuts as well, anyway helpful video. I'm a ryzen user so untill they fix the bugs with win 11 that messes up your gaming performance I will stick with win 10
A lot of "I am today years old" for me. I'm here laughing my ass of doing the shake.
I pin task manager to the task bar... really can't live without it
have you or will you soon be testing and comparing benchmarks for gaming? i wonder what it does for load times, memory usage/allocation etc. and if you do do this, please please do a full suite of comparison benchmarks between win10 various editions and win11 various editions (pro, nt etc.) and please include power plans in your benchmarks. i am curious how it will affect gaming for my personal use case.
Some great tips. Got my laptop upgraded to W11 about 2 weeks ago. Works fine for my use. Only problem i have are my files in Dropbox and external hard drive are all plain yellow looking files. Before i had a picture on every file, be it for music, videos etc. Cannot fathom out how to get it back. Can you help or make a video showing how this can be done. Ta.
Sadly my 3 year old PC does not meet the specification ...so I am sticking with Win 10..
Correct me if im wrong but the middle click thing has been there since XP.
Areo shake has been introduced with windows 7
and the clipboard history was already in windows 10
I had a friend give me shit for middle click opening tabs (ctrl + left click does the same) so I’m glad to see someone else preaching it’s usefulness.
Good job
Plz help me with sth
My laptop is from 8 years ago and it's certainly not compatible for with windows 11 update but I know there r some ways to skirt the rules. But I've heard it may cause my computer to stop receiving updates. Is it rly correct ? Thx for your help.
Please, tell me that the combination of WIN + K (to open quick connections) still works in windows 11. Is it?
Can someone discuss or tackle the issues of NVidia Broadcast Application with Windows 11. I reverted back because my mic won't work at all when I use broadcast app (coming from a dev preview) so until now I haven't really upgraded to the official release.
shake and others available in 10 but super pumped to try the linux in windows option!!!
I have not found a way to pin the taskbar so that it is visible when using an application in full screen like Chrome. Is there a solution?
I'm ONLY half way done and had to pause the video to write this comment: I Love this tips man !!
is windows 11 old laptop friendly ? i have an old laptop just updated it in win10 works fine so im curios if it can run win11 since in recommended specs it pass
seems the shake function doesn't work on my Windows 11
that or how I shake things are not shaky enough
This was good!
Nice tip on the middle button click for RUclips.
What I liked about Windows 10 is that you could drag a file to the corner of the taskbar and move it to the desktop. With Windows 11 it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas how to make it?
In Windows 10, I've had easy access to the Clock at a glance, Audio devices and Taskbar resizing. None of that is here now. I need them back if I'm going to keep 11.
The shake option actually triggers me a lot when I shake my mouse by mistake, everything minimizes..
I wish i could center the windows button at the bottom and use it as an anchor point. I really really would love to put windows internal / productivity programs left from it and my programs like steam, discord etc. right. So the taskbar could be dynamic while being static.
Maybe i'm not the only one who wants that and a third-party option will do this.
I already using the CTRL + SHIFT + ESC for the task manager technique since win vista.
7:10 Ctrl+l opens automatically moves you to the URL bar. Too, really helps when you're quickly opening up tabs and somehow lose focus of the url bar
So does F6 in most browsers. Same effect, even less buttons
@@DuncDog Less keys, yes, however F6 is a "wrench my head down and type like I've never touched a keyboard before" type of shortcut imo
there's a bug with widgets and chat on the taskbar..it will not show if you didn't disable the device of your monitor driver..
How do you move main taskbar to second monitor
