He's gritting his teeth through the whole review. Consider it cost over 40 Gs for a gussied up RAV4, $50,000 is very nearly average car cost these days.
@@krane15 He was clearly not the guy for this review, no one buys this to use it as a family car, no one who needs to put a oversized 6.1 ft in the backseat buys this car. No one looking for a super comfortable car buys a sporty hatchback which is basically what this is. No experienced car reviewer uses cars from a different segment as comparison to the car they are testing.
I personally own this car was about $58k before taxes set up with almost everything. The car is fast everyone that has sat with me to ride this have always been blown away. The car is always trying to go fast but if you set it to individual mode you can reduce engine power and the throttle isn’t as sensitive, you can also set it to slippery mode and it reduces power the same way aswell. In my testing the car does 0-60 in about 4 seconds it’s really quick but that’s only with launch control it’s really crazy.
I just bought this car and feel like I need to go to school to learn all these features. Did you get yours with the wireless phone charging? I have a feeling mine didn’t have this option.
I fully appreciated this review. Especially since it's nice to have taller, heavier folks doing the reviews for fit as I'm certainly one of them. I'd be curious what your review of the GLA45 AMG would be, particularly for fitment. I am hoping the transmission in that one wouldn't have the negatives, but I fear that it would be the same.
I just bought a 2021 AMG A35 with 18000 miles on it last week…and love it. It has the 19” rims and the ride is more rough like a sport car than luxury. I’m definitely being extra careful over RR crossings because I don’t want to crack a rim. This already had a rim replaced before I bought it. It has 235/35zr19 Pirellis on it and they are very low profile. On the next set, I may try an see if I can put 235/40zr19 to see if that slightly higher profile will help protect the rims, and ride a little more comfortably (and quieter at Highway speed) The tire noise is pretty loud at 80 mph, and it could be a bearing in one of the rear wheels. If it is, it’s under warranty. The previous owner said it wasn’t always this loud.. I got this for a great price, and could sell it for more than I paid for it… It is surprisingly fast, and the ladies like the pretty blue lights inside 😂
I passed on the AMG version for wifey for that reason not hand built. But love the 220 and the reason is for this size class, it is the only Benz that you can actually see out of the rear glass. She has pep and is just as fun to drive as my RAV4 Prime but on a skateboard.
I think most people sort this car into a wrong category. The normal Hatchback A Class compares with a Golf and this Limo Version compares with a Jetta (and similar cars from different brands). It`s just a Hatchback-Platform. The smallest Limousine Type Vehicle that Mercedes offers is the C-Class.
How accurate is that that Mercedes ships engines to “AMG” and AMG tunes them and sends them “back” to the Mercedes factory? Do they do all that or AMG just developed a tune for Mercedes and Mercedes just uses it at the factory without all the back and forth.
There are physical differences with the engine (different turbocharger for one) as well as tuning, but I don't know whether AMG actually make those changes themselves. The end result is going to be the same either way.
Agree and disagree on some...I have 1 of this and for me it's very nice. You don't even mention that you can control in 3 different ways the one in steering wheel, pads and its touch screen. Yes u are right it's expensive but we are talking about mercedes benz and it'is amg.
No sir .. the big part of this story is you said (& I’m paraphrasing), mother of God for +50K you get 302 hp/ 295 lbs-ft of really really fast rocket hard sub 5 sec 0-60 stunning, ridiculously powerful, hardcore, pit bull hammer!!! And you said it all w/a straight face. I kept waiting for the punchline to drop 🤣🤣🤣 …. 52K to get smoked by a 28K 2022 Honda Civic SI or Elantra N 🤣🤣🤣🤣! The 35K 455/455 LT1 Camaro is wicked brutal fast 🤣🤣🤣🤣 … the A35 AMG is discontinued in the US probably because of the ridiculous price of admission. Loved the review brother start to finish 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Cup 2s and stage one bolt ons my a35 smacking anything but hellcats etc, get a base 35k lt1 for that shitty interior interface etc, cmon man you can get a shitty civic and gap hell cats for less than 15k(;
That car would hold its value much much longer than a Genesis and it isn't a family car it is for asuccessful young and trendy individual wanting his first Mercedes. Nathan likes to hype Hondas and Hyundais but they are for everyday trundles no one boats about his Honda or Hyundai in the golf club car park and 50K these days is nothing considering you could get a pick up ttuck for way more.
I think it's hilarious that they get the cheapest guy in the crew to review one of the more pricier vehicles.

In europe .a affordable mercedes bmw and audi is welcomed .but its in the usa were some complain.

A45 is hand built and comes with the plaque not the A35
I’ve noticed a few dual clutches that have similar characteristics to that and it is sometimes annoying
They must not be doing it right. VWs dual-clutches are virtually seamless.
bmw did the same with the "M" line.. now everything is M-something... before it was a rarity to see an M3, M5, etc

It's just this engine, I believe. AMG builds the other AMG engines without much input from Mercedes.

Beautiful car and great review. Thanks for posting.
If this is too harsh for you, then what would you said about the real AMG 45s A class. The hatchback version of course.
This is the type of car for someone who wants an expensive EVO or STI but still wants to be a delinquent.
I get the feeling this vehicle isn't so bad and pretty darn fun to drive.

It's a hatchback that's been reworked into a saloon hence the wheel positioning.

Sport+ mode for the track only? BS!
Nice to see a reviewer that’s over 6 feet. Also liked the info re: ride quality and acceleration
Same experiences I had with my S2000!

Exactly, total drop kick

300 hp?? For 50grand. Lol.
Years ago, like 30, you would’ve thought you were eating a filet mignon every day.
And you're comparing this to what?
@@krane15 Really anything that would’ve been considered an exotic 30 years ago is within 100 horse power of this car.

Any reason the A35 doesn't seem to be on Mercedes' website anymore?
It’s only in Europe now

The German designer needs to take notes from this American specimen of design reviewer!
I have one if these. Great car 👌🏼
Do you use the paddle shifters?

You do realise that a Civic Si is over 2 seconds slower to 60 than this? Maybe all your laughing resulted in a lack of oxygen to the brain?
My LT1 Camaro spanks this and I get the same gas mileage.

If only they made a coupe (a real 2 door) version.
Made for Autobahn but sold in America …hmmm.
Dude, you are out of breath!!! what's going on??
You should visit the Massimo motor facility in Garland Texas USA!
No bueno. Got it. Does only 1 thing kind of good and even that can be beat by other cars. lol

the CLA it's nicer
Get a Genesis instead
Mercedes is pimping the AMG name to the point where it is meaningless
I would rather get a dual motor model 3 over this
