Got one of these as a rental while my car was being serviced. As someone who is adamantly against screens in cars, the Disco Fantastic interior was a real revelation. It’s the first screen-focused interior that I liked. Enjoyed even. The UX doesn’t take away from the driving experience. And the lighting felt premium and almost fun, instead of “we added colored lights please give us money.” All in all, a much better experience than the “optionless C class” or “somehow simultaneously too big and too small GLC” I usually get. Dare I say I actually enjoyed my afternoon with the car.
However, God help you if you provide your email address to Mercedes for the app. Even in GDPR-heavy Europe, it is in my experience flat out impossible to make them fully erase your details after you sell the car. They will keep sending you junkmail in a manner that makes even LinkedIn appear tame.
Awe man, thanks for actually driving the car and not talk about cup holders. You focused on the personality of the car. Well done. Your channel is definitely for the thinking man.
I would take this over the CLA despite not being a real AMG. Cheaper and I like the taillights a lot better. Just too bad about not having the panamera grille
@@PlayStationHJH006 Cool, but the visibility out of a CLA sucks a bit too bad for me to just suck it up when I could just have a car easier to see out of.
Yes indeed, I am one that you just disappointed. I got the 2021 AMG 35 cost me about 55k and now I'm thinking to trade in A45 I heard that is really better but it's like 70K. I'm happy that I have an AMG but you keep saying it's not an AMG.
..let’s ask Civic Type R & A35 owners about ownership experience when they reach 200k miles ! ..we all know how that will go ! Why are “premium” brands making entry level cars ?? Greed ! Their cars look awesome & are tech forward however, durability & reliability seem to be omitted from conversations, especially with a majority of auto journalists ! If its premium and the car is well taken care of, then head gaskets, trim pieces & electronic gremlins shouldn’t be an issue when real world miles pile on but... 🤷🏽♂️ ..”It’s a Mercedes”
My 2019 CTR needed the a/c replaced and the digital speedo would act like an 80’s TV after midnight intermittently, all before 5k miles. Let’s not talk about the 2/3rd gear crunch some get that there is no fix for. Other than those, a great car.
Give me my 2017 Audi S3 which this competes with. The 2022 S3 will not look like a Nissan Altima from the rear, like this MB does. The interior is excellent, but how’s the fit n finish...creaks?
Way too expensive, insane. A fully loaded one of these is the same as a fully loaded M340i xDrive, and no matter where your brand loyalty lies you would have to be crazy to consider this over the BMW
So it's a $53,000 Jetta GLI if you threw a Haldex unit under it. Otherwise get a Jetta GLI, throw in an APR or JB4 tune In it, and save yourself $20,000. Mercedes and the others gave up on exclusivity and turned towards putting one in everyone's driveway in the late 90s and went full-on into it when they gave us that turd of a C230 hatchback. But hey, some fools will rent, I mean lease, it....
@@johnguidetti5839 My apologies I should have elaborated. If it has to be a sedan then ditch the all-wheel-drive and get the GLI and save $20G. If it's quick, small, and all-wheel-drive you want, then a Golf R and save yourself $10G+
@@johnguidetti5839 Exactly. If you watch his video on the 2022 GTI from a couple of days ago, it's a European model and he elaborates on that. The European market will pay the equivalent of $58,000 US for a very nicely equipped GTI with very nice finishes that we don't get in the US. For $53,000 US - probably less - I would get a Genesis G70 Sport all-wheel drive with a 3.3 twin turbo V6 if I wanted a small fast all-wheel-drive sedan. In amongst the things I did over the years before I retired very early, was spend several years as a Mercedes service rep so yes, I would take the Genesis over the Mercedes.
@@ronnymb67 the Golf 8 interior is a downgrade from 7.5 & behind it’s comparable rivals. cheap hard plastics all over, felt removed from door bins and glove box, not even a gas strut to lift the bonnet. & buggy touchscreen infotainment. If you want a Proper Mercedes it has to be RWD or 4matic and C class upwards as a minimum.

Beautiful blue and interior combo

That was the best car reporting or reviewing I've ever heard
motoman, your ability to talk and drive aggressively never stops to amaze me! love the dash of this baby mb. great review as always! thank you.
I live your perspective and personality! Thank you for another good review.
@10:50 it is already rusting? I thought it was the best or nothing:(
Looks much better than his hatch brother. Unfortunately, for now, s model does not coming.

No panmericana grille because it’s not a 45,53,63 AMG
*Panamericana
Denim Blue >> Gentian Blue. Yeah, I said it lol.
As always, excellent work, M.
Can't really argue with you.
Unfortunately shareholders and paid CEOs do not agree with you.. they’d rather sell more A180 then a premium car with some performance.
0:07 Honda too close for comfort to Mercedes ? Sir Max and RedBull F1 agree.
Wishlist? Just one item from me. U.S. availability for an AMG A45 S 4Matic+ in sedan form.

Is she more fun then a C200 Cabriolet, circa 2017ish?
Totally different type of car.
Hmmmm. Comparing this to a VW Arteon AWD (new), 19-21 Volvo S60 T6 R Design, and Audi S3. (Volvo being the slowest empirically speaking).

At 53K, it’s not a horrible value for a Merc.

Bmw interior not as pretty
Did he just say “this is not a luxury car”? 🤦♂️
Not a bad looking car by any means - however to me, the exterior design needs to be flashier to match the techy/modern looking interior. 🤷🏼♂️

In Europe the A/CLA class is considered as a car for scum to be honest. It brings down the entire brand, such a shame.
Oh. Do you have one? Lol.
