Potatoes are a nightshade highly inflammatory for any arthritis also chicken is high in arginine an amino acid that can trigger dormant viruses like ebv. Cold sores etc. No more than 2x week or balance it with lysine

I love the idea of the kids planting trees. How cool if they get to watch them all grow through the decades.
If not well planted they won't live, though. I think to prevent more dead saplings, I'd dig them up, improve the soil, & dig a preferred wider style of planting hole. It's best to dig a hole that's like a wider at the top bowl shape. Water the holes well before planting or do the planting during or after a rainy period.
Mix the removed, hard, native clay soil with a bucket of aged compost & manure, plus about 2C of Gypsum, which is what the ancients used to fertilize their plants. It will help to aerate the soil, will deliver water & nutrients more evenly.
First soak each hole, then form a mound of firm, wet soil, & drape the roots over it. Backfill & press soil down firmly, trying to not tear off many roots & repeat as you backfill around them, until it's filled to ground level or a bit higher. Sometimes soil might sink around new plantings if not well packed. This layer by layer method prevents air pockets which kills the roots & causes uneven surface soil after watering or rainfall. This attention to detail in the beginning provides the best soil contact with the roots, & just about assuring success.
If a plant or sapling is root bound, untangle or cut some of the roots around the rootball to prevent "girdling " from the roots.
This bowl shaped planting hole & the enriched soil helps to hang onto more rain or hand delivered water & the compost & manure will provide an ongoing supply of needed nutrients, as that kind of enriched soil improves the soil beneath it & around it over time, inviting worms & soil beetles & microorganisms which then thrive & improve the soil to insure healthy growth.
If the new trees seem well planted & not worth digging up to replant them, just add the enriched soil on top - but keep it a couple inches away from the trunk. Mustn't smother the crown. Spread at least 1" of enriched soil around each new tree in late winter. Spread it out to as far out as the roots might be. Widen the area of enriched soil as the trees grow, with aged compost & manure out as far as their root systems grow.
The rain & insects will take that good stuff deep into the earth & will be available as the trees growth continues. With more aeration by Gypsum & the addition of more worms & beetle holes, more rain water will penetrate the soil & may help prevent erosion.

Since it's on a slope, you might also might want to make a small swale around the trees to catch water and manure/nutrient. You don't have to do a whole swale along the length of the slope if you do not want to, just a crescent shape catchment around the tree. Maybe a 6 to 12 foot semi-circle.

    • @cherylanderson3340
      @cherylanderson3340 2 года назад +1

Yes. That's a nice way to prevent erosion too. I also recommend a similar concept, on a smaller scale, above, but like your idea a lot.
I'd like to plant large, thirsty plants in a wider at the top bowl shape planting hole, to capture more surface rain which all sinks down to the rootball - if the soil has been amended. I'd recommend aged manure & compost, plus Gypsum.

Yes, zone 2-3. With toddlers who would get into a knife fight over some apple sauce, and food shortages on the way during this (projected 10 years) war, I think it's a smart choice.

Sweet Rebekah, Those tomatoes can stay root bound for a good while rather than potting up into extra large deep pots as long as they’re fed a little. If it were me, I’d prune out side shoots and pop into trays as cuttings which would then be ready to transplant in May as planned. The “Mother” plants can also be transplanted into larger auger drilled holes in the tunnel or outside. This happened to me once and the root bound mother plants produced very early tomatoes while providing a family of junior cuttings perfectly sized for planting out at the appropriate time.

Justin, concerning your inflammation: I went on a nightshade free diet about 3 1/2 years ago and it's made a big difference in my inflamation issues. Nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant) cause inflammation in the organs and the joints. After being on this diet for just a couple of weeks I noticed a difference and after about a month I had lost several inches although no real weight loss. Now when I eat these things, I definitely suffer inflammation in my knees and feet especially. Just something else to check into that may help you! Best of luck!

Yes most all Americans are low in magnesium. Amazon has an amazing Magnesium Oil in a spray bottle. It absorbs so easily thru the skin at your pain sites. At night it helps you to fall asleep 😴!

@@eldenl1 magnesium can be mixed with a carrier oil that you rub into the skin. I get it in Australia from a compounding chemist. We have also changed our pool from a salt water pool to a magnesium pool.

@@eldenl1 you can take warm/hot water and mix in some Epsom salts and soak your feet in a tub with the water. I often will take a sit-down tub bath and soak in the mixture. You can absorb the Magnesium thru your skin and be relaxed as well. Also can mix up a small amount and put in a small spray bottle and occasionally spritz your legs, arms or whatever several times. It absorbs thru skin easily.

I’m a nutritional therapist in the Uk. It’s potatoes that are causing your inflammatory spike. They’re from the deadly nightshade family. Tomatoes cause the same problem as they’re also members of the deadly nightshade family. I usually advise my patients to avoid potatoes and tomatoes if they have inflammatory issues.

Justin, You can make a French drain in that corner or just dig some dirt out and replace it with gravel so it has a place of naturally drained.

Hang upside down on a Tweeter like inversion table, it helps your back so much just 10-15 minutes. You don't have to go all the way upside down if your not used to it.
It's the fastest drug free way to relieve back pain.

You needn't send me any seeds, as I'm in Australia and they'd be refused by AQIS (our border quarantine inspection). But I've already hugely enjoyed the pdf of Chapter 3 while I wait for the real thing, and I'll buy my own basil seeds and name the plants after the Rhodes family members! 😉

Thank you for sharing about your health journey and nutritional information. I am figuring out what I can and cannot eat now too as I have been diagnosed with arthritis and also have PCOS which increases inflammation in the body. It’s been difficult, but God is leading me and helping me figure out what foods are good for my body and what are not. Knowing that I am not alone helps as this often feels like a lonely journey.

Moringa has greatly helped my inflammation! I can definitely tell the difference when I forget to take it.

Rice is inflammatory. Try carbs on the low gi table. Squash is one.

When using a firestarter for sparks, holding it just above the fuel is better, as otherwise you're sending sparks places they don't need to be and where they won't help get your fuel going. Just an FYI for anyone who is looking to use one.
We're like Rebecca down here: it's supposed to get to 27F overnight Sat-Sun, which is almost unheard of here in mid-March. But Mother Nature is sneaking it in just a few days before our usual last frost date, so I guess we'll have to give this round to her. But I brought in all the seed flats from the barn, and I'm potting everything up inside the house and then hanging out with them for a couple of days, just to be on the safe side, before moving them back out.

Justin, I'd look into Dr. Steven Gundry's Plant Paradox ( he's also come out with a Keto plan too) but anyways, I would look into what he talks about Lectins. Certain foods contain lectins that can cause inflammation ( potatoes being one of them). You follow his 3 phase plan and then you can add some foods back in like potatoes ( but you have to pressure cook them, and tomatoes, the same, etc.). My husband had high blood pressure and we followed this and his blood pressure went back down to normal, and his cholesterol HDL, LDL was great when we got his blood work done. I HIGHLY recommend it and at least give it a try.

I take Coconut Oil for inflammation. I alternate it with an 1/8 tspn of cinnamon or 1 tspn turmeric with honey. Depends on what I'm doing. I'm really glad you're doing so well and must say it's impressive (yay for herbs and docs like yours! 🙂)
