This song is full of great lines, but my favorite is, "The ugly truth has a model face." It's so true in many areas of life. This is definitely one of MIW's best songs. It is truly a masterpiece.

Asia is weird for the "freedom" (North Korea, Russia, and China).

I'm an American and I can vouch for this song,
It's not just a song, we download stuff, we can't afford a lot of things because it's hard to get a job, We're depraved, the cats on capital hill just get richer every day, we look at celebrities like gods and Hollywood being mount Olympus.
We sell our bodies to make ends meet (not all the time but if we really need money)
(Most of that is common in Los Angeles, not everywhere,)
A really strong percentage of Americans take medication because of stress or anxiety problems, or we take medication for something like ADD or diabetes,
We spend over a billion dollars on fast food annually, (counting the population as a whole, while the average American spends about a million annually)
Nearly every American has a FB or some form of social media.
We put prisoners on tv, and watch them in HD and everybody talks about them,
I mean this song is 100% true.
I could go on about our "great country"
But you get my point.

If I may, your point about the "anxiety" "ADD" medication. They are not talking about that. Those are helping with those sorts of things. He is talking about like dieting pills and any medication that makes you look entirely different hence the term "We take medication to be someone else"
And the social media thing; he does not care for it. He is talking about the people who beg and whine and look for attention on it. Having social media is not bad but, what I just stated is the bad part.

(not yourself) i have many friends that were put on ADD meds, ADHD meds ect. Depression pills. anxiety pills. and all these pills did was make them feel more run down and less like themselves. same things they used to laugh at werent funny anymore. Just a sad droopy world in the mind of a zombie. something they were programmed to be through this pill they have been put on. So it very well could mean all of these pills. not just diet pills. the audio quality sounds better in the lyric/ video compared to the album version. the album version sounds rather off and too clashing in percussion. not to mention some of the vocal lines are different as well. Yes, there is an actual difference in quality between the album version and two i mentioned.

This is from the deluxe version of infamous, i think they remixed all the songs from the album. It sounds much better to be honest.
I noticed that. In the album there seems to be more high frequencies, and with this video, it's much more balanced with low and high.

Fun history fact: This line was a reference to the French revolution where Marie-Therese stated "Let them eat cake" after the poor complained about not enough bread was to be shared. This line references that we are repeating history. The capital hill is our version of ROYALTY and we have very little, while the government has more than they need.

They don't try to hide it with clever lyrics, they are straight to the point and back it up with excellent music. The video really puts there message out there in a clean and clear way, not just flashy words all over the place, keep the good music coming MIW!!!
