- On Tuesday's edition of Zolak & Bertrand, the guys discussed whether or not the Patriots will turn to rookie quarterback, Drake Maye. Marc Bertrand made the point that if the team continues to roll out Jacoby Brissett, then they are publicly waiving the white flag on the season.

That’s bull crap because they did a lot of things to go out there and get the best free agents. They just didn’t wanna come. They spent a lot of money. They have a plan. I’m more excited about this team than I am with the Red Sox. I know that. At least the Patriots have a plan with a young quarterback.
That’s exactly right. Miami should have ALWAYS been the point Maye started regardless of how the team looked, but especially once Miami started looking as hapless as they do now. They wanted to get Brissett a cheap, easy win and try to ride it as if they knew what they were doing.

Why is this guy even our starter in the 1st place. We couldnt have found someone better than this stiff while waiting for Maye to develop? I would rather have an aging Flacco out there over Brissett. As for Mayo.....Pffft that guy just exudes softness.

Bertrand is clueless. You can have a plan without having a targeted week by which Maye starts.
The plan can be, once we’re confident Maye can handle X, or the line shows us Y, then Maye plays.

This seasons sucks because of the GM, Coaching & Players. Fans ha love nothing to do with why JB sucks or was a starter.

BREAKING NEWS! The team we all KNEW wasn't going to be good, isn't good. When did we all turn into Veruca Salt chanting "I WANT IT NOW"? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. No one thought they were going to play themselves out a the top 3 draft picks.
Personally I'm fine with Maye getting the start and playing behind a bad o-line. He can't improve watching on the sideline. Also, the OC needs to stop putting in slow to develop pass plays, and Mayo needs to force the issue, ego be damned. No defense is taking them seriously.

You start Maye and that gets you the 6th pick in the draft instead of the 1st. Not even remotely close to sniffing the playoffs either way, and you actually just might do another Mac Jones and just completely ruin the kid. Such a childish mentality to say, “oh you should always do everything to win” without taking into consideration the circumstances.

Waiting for the team to get “better” before they insert Drake Maye is absolutely asinine. The QB and the o-line is supposed to be a cohesive “unit.” Coach that up!!! That’s why Miami played like crap with two outstanding wide receivers in Hill and Waddle - but no QB. We don’t have a QB in Jacoby Brissett at the Patriots. We have the third pick overall sitting on his ass on the sideline. That is really, really dumb!
Jacoby has never been a good starting QB, not even when he had good weapons with the Colts. They could barely score 20 pts. Maye never had a good o-line in college. Bo Nix doesn't have a good o-line in Denver and he's learning, making his rookie mistakes and winning. This silk gloves thing with Maye is pathetic. You all have Mac Jones PTSD if u don't want Maye to start. Mac was never going to be elite and we are looking for an elite QB. Start Maye, put Milton as QB2 and Brissett as QB3, and let the young guns take over

Mac Jones was drafted with pick fifteen, not pick three. Mac Jones in 2021 started on an above average team. No quarterback would be successful with the 2024 offensive line.

While Maye is better at standing in a pocket and throwing, Brissett is better at running for his life from unblocked 300-pound linemen.
I think you’re confused. Maye is very mobile. More mobile than Brissett. He’s a better athlete.

If mgmt wanted to play Maye in 24..then why not get him OL/WRs who have stats done something in the NFL...instead they went cheap...result...1-16.
I think Pop, Polk, Hunter Henry, Bourne and Butte are good enough to be successful.

As an out of market fan. You guys are embarrassing. It is clearer than daylight that the pats are rebuilding but somehow they are expected to win games? The non-casual fans know that this o-line is one of the worst in NFL history so it doesn’t even make sense to start Drake. Let the kid sit and learn and start him later in the szn to gain some experience like all the other great do. Rushing him into a bad team is the number 1 was that qbs get ruined.
Talented QB’s elevate a bad team. You can’t ruin a good QB.
