I was looking for how to color an apple in one of my coloring books. This video is just what I needed, although I will be watching this more than once it certainly has given me a great start. Your finished picture is as realistic as I have seen. Amazing. Thanks for the smiles.
It was a very beautiful drawing. The colors blended together very well and looked natural. Thank you for your effort. I drew an apple a while ago, I'm thinking of drawing it again.😊👏👏👏
I like your apple. I tried to follow along with my 100% cotton hot pressed fabriano but the color pencils still would not cover all the white areas and it was not smooth like yours. How did you get it so smooth?
That Fabriano paper is a great paper! I think that having an incredibly sharp point on the pencil combined with short strokes, and light pressure is how to achieve the smothness. I hope that helps. :)
Thanks, Jon.........would you share the brands of pencils you use and perhaps a demo on why you use them and in what context? Do you ever paint landscapes and if so, what are your suggestions for a beginner? I love your Podcast with Lisa. Lots of information, discussion and fun. Thanks so much.
+Judith A Rowland Most of the time I'm using Caran D'ache Luminance and F-C Polychromos. I am going to be releasing more videos demonstrating more of what you're asking about. Thanks for the complements on the podcast! i'm glad you're liking it! :)
Hi there! Thanks for the comment. Yes. I do plan to create a video on burnishing (pressure that flattens the tooth of the paper) . The biggest thing to remember when burnishing is to make sure you have enough pencil down first before you start applying pressure in order to eliminate the white of the paper. :)
Hi Chandra! Mostly to show that it's an unnecessary technique. Colored pencil can be easy. The techniques can be quite simple and the pencil selection can be few. Learning to draw and see how light and shadows work? That's the challenging part to drawing. I teach students to focus on the final outcome and composition. Not the technique. Modify the technique for the result. I hope that helps!
What exactly is the purpose of a complementary color scheme if one must end up using multiple different shades, tints and tones of red any way? Why not just start off with, and finish with different shades, tones, and tints of reds? As long as the colorist is aware of basic value relationships and understands how light affects form, what is the point? I try to understand the theory behind complimentary color schemes, but I get hung up here.
Thanks, Zach Alicea, I'm glad you asked this. The reason behind has to do with the end result. By the time you're done, if you've only used a lot of reds, it can look very drab and "lifeless". If you compare against one done with complementary colors, you end up with something that you can actually see through the semi-transparent layers of pigment using this soft layering technique. I hope that helps explain my opinion better. :)
Hey Ahlexah, I used the 12 count set of Prismacolor premier pencils, the 12 set. So there's only a few color options in there. Here's a link: amzn.to/2Hryx7J

Thank you so much! Have a lot of fun coloring your apple. 😊
I really love this video. Cool how you layer the colours in the same order an apple ripens on the tree.
+HelloShiny you know, I never thought of that, but that works!

Is there a reason why you didn't finish blending with OMS?

sup dude loved your ball on class
Thanks, Gary Adams, I'm glad you like it!
Sharpened Artist hi
I would not say inexpensive, for 12 pencils they want about $6 to $8 more than Black Widow wants for 24 set. Thanks for the tutorial!
You're welcome! :)
Why did you use green first then yellow all over first cuz that’s really unique?
I used green to get that shadow in there first. :)
how many hours did you finished that
I don't remember exactly, but it was probably around 2 to 5 hours to complete.
Bro took a screenshot
So Beautiful your draw. I also drew the same apple on my channel, if you see how it is?
Thank you!
W.O.W.
+Lawrence Shuda, Thank you!
It looks like real...
Thank you!
And Sir Is That A Brown Or Red?
I don't think I used a red in this project- so probably a red color is what you're seeing.
どうもありがとうございます
You're very welcome!
I’m no judge but like...1st place..anyone?
Hey Marcela Salazar, Thanks for the comment! :)
Your step by step phrases are blocking me to see what you are drawing the top part -_-
I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but thanks for watching!
