Alex, I really enjoyed your conversation with James! I heard your request for Uke Head stickers. I'm more than happy to send some of my stickers to you, care of Southern Ukulele Store.
I agree that James Hill is a primo motivo in the world of ukulele playing; the toppest of the top so to speak. But I discovered the ukulele in the1990s and I believe that the single most important mover and shaker as to the present wave of the ukulele as an icon is Jim Beloff. His Flea Market Music website was one of the first and a meeting place for us uke-heads back then . . . albeit not in the communal way that the forums can now connect us because of the internet advances. Jim is a good player if not a virtuoso, but his influence in the rediscovery of the instrument as a "thing" was monumental. It's interesting to me that today many uke enthusiasts look at me blankly if I mention his name.
@@UkesWithAlex You should look him up. He has written dozens of ukulele instructional books. His brother-in-Law owns The Magic Fluke Company. Jum got him started making ukuleles in the late 90s.
Good lord - I’ve been eagerly waiting for this since we talked about it Alex, but wouldn’t have expected my name to pop up 🥲 I love both of you!
