The roach thing did happen to me too. Keurig from the flea market. I’m still scared to buy any appliances used to this day and that was a good ten plus years ago.

Enjoy watching the show brother, I’ve been flipping for the last 5 months and love it. I always try to keep my listings realistic, sometimes I will over price but only if I’m expecting huge low balling.
I agree - i try to keep them pretty realistic sometimes i do list a little high and sometimes i have listed some items too high or low because i comped it wrong but still learning everyday. 5 months is awesome! Thanks so much for watching and happy picking!

Great finds in your thrifting. I got roaches in my apartment a few months back. I was told that I probably brought them in to my place in a cardboard box...in the cracks of it....from some free produce that was given to me. It took the pest control guy three trips to my apartment to get rid of the no good buggers...and they left traps around my place still. It was a nightmare, so I know how you must have felt trying to get rid of yours. I think this is the biggest fear I have of thrifting, but I love it so much, I just always try to be careful and pay attention to what I am buying. Thanks for the coffee maker tips.
Oohh no! Im glad they are all gone now for you! It was a nightmare for sure. I do check the items really well now and will even check the inside of stuff now where before i didnt. but Ill def keep on thrifting lol too fun not too =) thanks so much for watching!
My upstairs neighbor had roaches and thankfully they didn't end up in my apartment but it was treated as a prevention anyways. In any case the exterminator said they can infest the corrugated part if the box even if its super small. That grossed me out so I will not be bringing any boxes into my apartment anymore. Everything will go into bags or bins. It's almost enough to make me quit to be honest.
i live in africa and i got rid of the invasion of cockroackes and crickets with mothballs - napthalene balls which i chucked into and under every cupboard.

I bought a beautiful vintage handwoven Mexican blanket one winter. In April I started to notice a couple little moths flying here and there in the late evenings . Well if you see a few you have a lot! That blanket infested my home with webbing clothes moths that were really really hard to get rid of. The larvae were pupating in tiny cocoons deep in the woven wool and hatched into moths when the weather got warmer and days got longer.

I'm very weary of black appliances ever! Of course used to get them in black as to not stand out, but a friend gave us some stuff when she moved, the box had roaches, they got everywhere, huge mess, had to throw the black appliances away, so now I get white or light colored
Thanks for sharing the video nice to no the information about roaches we bought a flat screen t.v.it worked great for a lil bit then if just stopped like turning own it tries to stay own could something be in it somewhere I'm freaking out can't stand spiders or bugs we have never had anything and don't want any I may have that tv checked out I'm glad i saw the notification I'm recovering from outpatient back surgery and it is helps to watch take my mind off of the pain now Wondering about the tv and where to look thanks again for sharing the video take care God bless you and your family 🙏🙏
I hope the surgery is healing quickly and the pain is getting better . I had a tv like that where i couldnt turn it off - there was just something wrong with it - i took it apart and no bugs =) thanks so much for watching!
Nice pickups! Dan Dee brand is actually sold at WalMart. But it can still be a good brand - especially when kids lose their plush and the parents go to eBay to find an exact replacement. :)
I'm wary of electronics. I was taking close up photos of an remote control car and noticed a dead bug when posting the pictures. It still gives me the creeps
True! and lots of people dont think about it - I know didnt but now i have an intake around I lysol and look through all items very carefully before taking them in the house thanks so much for watching!
Roaches love anything warm and dark they will get into clocks, vcr's and video game consoles, along with t.v.'s.. I picked up some free magazines that were already in totes. Of course, being free I just took them. Got them home, opened the tote that was on the back of the truck had my husband pull the truck right around to the dump. All of the magazines had gotten wet at some point and you could just smell the mold and mouse pee. Lesson learned they may have been free but, the dump charged us 30.00. We don't have recycling here, it was the charities way of not having to pay. However, they are so good at charging us less I didn't say anything. I consider I did them a favor.
OMG I will definitely NOT be buying used coffee makers ever! I try not to bring any cardboard boxes into my house from estate sales. Even having the boxes in my car as I'm driving home skeeves me out.
I picked up a used Keurig that someone left outside their house with a sign “free”. Guess I got lucky because it’s been about 6 years later and I still use it to this day with 0 issues lol.
INFESTATION: When you buy anything like a coffee maker, that you can't open but are worried about what may be living inside.... Place item in trash bag, Put a can fogger or no pest strip in the bag, close the bag tight. Let it sit for a few days.
I adopted a snake from someone and the electric cord that came with him was polluted with bed bugs, which then tried to infest my home. Had to have someone come take care of them like you did. Check everything you take into your house.
To my understanding bugs are attracted to any electronics and appliances! My experiences I bought a used TV at a pawn shop and it came with bugs in it .. not realizing after 4 days 🪳 and $1,500 later never again!
Another great show and haul! I thought those Galway golf club socks were really good! Love watching your show! Thank you for the warning about the coffee maker too! Always the first channel I watch when I get home from my other job...🤣 🤣 🤣 always know its going to be enjoyable and ez watch and may even learn something 😀😀 Great video as always keep grinding you doing great!!! Until next time your friend Jason.
Those roaches are some of the hardest to get rid of. They can live for a very long time eating tiny crumbs or even just grease . This is why I don't buy airfyers or alot of kitchen appliances. I picked up some pioneer remotes for old CD players the other day CU-pd078(sold for 14.00 already) CU-pd048 , A Panasonic av system remote and a Sony av system remote. I always see them for a buck or less and pass them up, now I will check out anything name brand that I recognize, Sony , Panasonic , ONKYO , Pioneer , Kenwood , Toshiba
Nice on the remotes!! Awesome flips! Bose cords can also be worth a good bit. Youre right about them roaches - the amount of work it was to spray was alot - it wasnt just spraying - i told them i wanted the works LOL (i hate bugs) and they did all cabinets drilled holes all types of stuff. Then a check up appointment - lots of work due to a coffee maker LOL thanks so much for watching!
Hi! I just started to watch your channel and today I came across these today the Olukia flip flops for 10.00. If it was not for you saying these are good I would not have know. This is not the video. But wanted to say Garcias!!
YAY!!!! Excellent pick up!!! Olukia is one of my favs I usually do a happy dance when I find them - they will sell fast =) thanks so much for watching!
If I'm not sure if bugs are included then I just put the item in a clear plastic bag and wait to see. If it's winter then it stays in the garage to freeze and suffocate.
My dad owned a pest control business and he said if you see one German roach there are 500 hidden in the walls. You did the right thing calling for help.
I read about them and told kayla we need help lol. They drilled holes and all types of stuff. Expensive but will worth it :) 😀 Thanks so much for watching!!!
That is true. We use to do house clean outs. It creeped me out when we saw a few German roaches because I knew there were 100's lurking in dark spaces. 😵 I live in Florida so they're very common. They are so hard to get rid of! They are the nastiest of all bugs to me.
I got 50 or so game chickens running loose in the yard. No roaches no fire ants..we had a house in phoenix that was infested with roaches no amount of spraying could get rid of them .one day my dad came home with 10 chickens. A couple weeks later no roaches. Apparently they go in and out of the house.the chickens pick them off.
I talked to an exterminator one time and he said you can put a bunch of German cockroaches in a terrarium and put a cover over it that has a screen over the top. As long as the roaches can get air they will survive. Also all you have to do is put a small dish of water in the terrarium along with some wadded up newspaper. Believe it or not these roaches will eat and reproduce because of the ink on the newspaper. That will be their food source for about 3 months before the food finally runs out
Ugh .. I wondered if wood could conceal bed bugs. Someone in my neighborhood placed a antique dresser out for the trash. It was made of beautiful wood I wanted to savage for future projects, but I know that property has a bad bed bugs infestation. I kept trying to talk myself into saving some of it, but I don't know anything about bed bugs & ultimately felt it wasn't worth the risk. I do bring home pcs to refinish often & always figured if I can't see anything crawling around w a flashlight I should be good to go & if I didn't know they had issues with them, I totally would have salvaged most of it. Very good possibility someone else drug it home w them 🤦♀️ ugh .. I've got the *Heebie-jeebies* now lol 🤣
yea if you know that place has bed bugs its def not worth the risk - they are so hard to get rid of. you did the right thing for sure Thank so much for watching!
One afternoon I had a repairman in to look at my dryer ... it was a shady non-local repair service that Sears sent to me for the warranty. He didn't fix the dryer ... wanted to charge me $600 for a repair, of course a new one costs less than that ... He was a surly guy. A few days later ... I spotted some roaches in the basement around the dryer. What the ... ? I got rid of the dryer and the roaches. But I still doubt this was a coincidence, but WHY??
Awesome! Thank you! Ill have to look that up!! That is excellent =) $38 sound about right I was actually sitting here looking it up LOL =) thanks so much for the info and for watching!
that’s a good heads up ( no coffee machines in my future) .. but my daughter is against me thrift for bedding and clothes … she is adamant that her 6 month debacle trying to rid scabies was from sharing my W/D laundry area… which I did feel bad for her after seeing the shampoo treatments have to be repeated 4 times. that’s my critter share.. but I wont buy carpets pillows or pet carriers/pet products my concern for fleas and flea larvae… I love my Dogs and will never forget a apartment we lived in when we first got married… short of arson I don’t think we could’ve been rid of those pest- we ended up moving. But, shamelessly I love 2nd hand shops… I sell a couple things a week -just enough to fInance my compulsory shopping- win/win finding amazing flips and personal treasures!
That may be the only way of getting rid of critters. You have to burn your house to the ground, and Hope that the eggs were burnt to a crisp and the roaches didn't escape.
Roaches do love electronics. I actually had to replace a laptop computer because of a roach infestation. They got inside and pooped all over the place and destroyed some things inside. That will never happen again. I live in Northern Nevada now and I've never seen a big other than the occasional housefly.
I just started watching you and I’m really just enjoying your videos. I am curious as to where are you get your comp prices. Is it one website or do you have to go to a lot of different places. This is fascinating to me

Just curious how fast you sell stuff. I watched your show of your house and storage unit and garage. You have a lot of stuff and just wonder how often things sell.
I sell anywhere between usually 7 to 20 items a day - Like for the dept 56 lot all have sold but 5 but some things take a year some take 5 mins. Im getting a little better so things sell faster. Like the Kuhl pants i picked up last week all have sold but 1 and the cutco knives all have sold in a week i hope that is helpful. thanks so much for watching!
@@beardedthriftmachine it was those little sugar ants and we had the coffee pot for a few years. And I picked it up to clean under the pot and a bunch of ants came running out from under. It was horrible. Needless to say we got rid of the coffee pot and now have a smaller one that doesn't have as many crevices to hide in.
A few years ago I picked up a Sylvester Dan Dee. Still have it. Thank you for sharing the cockroach information. We usually quarantine a new animal but seldom give any thought to objects we bring into the house. We just recently had a bird breeder sell a bird with Avian flu. So, other than COVID screening of paper and plastic products coming into your home, become informed by watching Julian and Nurse Flipper's videos to learn more. Haven't seen any warnings from Kuerig!

thanks so much for watching!
I'm very weary of black appliances ever! Of course used to get them in black as to not stand out, but a friend gave us some stuff when she moved, the box had roaches, they got everywhere, huge mess, had to throw the black appliances away, so now I get white or light colored
Yea I agree! that one i had was black too and they blended right in!
thanks so much for watching!
Have some take it outside & remove the casing.
I hope the surgery is healing quickly and the pain is getting better . I had a tv like that where i couldnt turn it off - there was just something wrong with it - i took it apart and no bugs =)
thanks so much for watching!
I use the shoe trees in my leather boots & shoe jacks to keep the boots up straight
very good idea =)
thanks so much for watching!
WOW about the coffee maker and good to know! Thanks for the tip!
Any time! Thank you so much for watching!
Nice pickups! Dan Dee brand is actually sold at WalMart. But it can still be a good brand - especially when kids lose their plush and the parents go to eBay to find an exact replacement. :)
oh geez maybe thats where Ive seen the name - hopefully it sells next halloween lol
Thank you for the info and thanks so much for watching!
Always great practical info, thanks!
Glad it was helpful! =) watch out for those coffee makers =)
thank so much for watching!!!
I'm wary of electronics. I was taking close up photos of an remote control car and noticed a dead bug when posting the pictures. It still gives me the creeps
True! and lots of people dont think about it - I know didnt but now i have an intake around I lysol and look through all items very carefully before taking them in the house
thanks so much for watching!
I love Fit Flop shoes! They wear really good!
Yay!!! i havent worn them but it seems the sold comps are def there to look out for them
thanks so much for watching!
Nice haul Julian. Yes, I heard from another reseller that the Keurig had brought infestation to their home as well. So its a No for me!
ohh no -- im telling ya i always them behind - def not worth it to me
thanks so much for watching!
You are the reason that every time I see a used Keurig at the store I envision roaches swarming out of it. LOL
i know right!! Im like the anti Keurig guy! =) never again LOL =)
thank so much for watching!
Same!
Any questions of bugs..put in black plastic bag..seal tight..if ya can vaccum air out..you can up the killing of bugs
very awesome advice !
Bed bugs can handle cold but not high heat .so summer put black bags in sun....works on funiture too..but takes to weeks if only using that
Awesome finds...if you get another one, don't open it in the garage either, open them far from the house. :)
that is so true!!!
thanks so much for watching!
FYI.. found a Patagonia 5 Panel Ball Cap on EBay for $135.. only difference is it’s Khaki in color
Thank you so much for that info! its crazy how expensive some of those hats are
thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for sharing!! I learn a lot!!
thanks so much for watching!
George Costanza wanted to learn Frolf (Frisbee Golf)!! THE SUMMER OF GEORGE
Ohhh no!!! Thats sad! Free is sometimes always good =) That stinks you have to pay for dumping =( we have free ones here
thanks so much for watching!
OMG I will definitely NOT be buying used coffee makers ever! I try not to bring any cardboard boxes into my house from estate sales. Even having the boxes in my car as I'm driving home skeeves me out.
Smart idea on the cardboard boxes - they also house alot of pests - i agree with that too i dont like it in my car LOL
thanks so much for watching!
I picked up a used Keurig that someone left outside their house with a sign “free”. Guess I got lucky because it’s been about 6 years later and I still use it to this day with 0 issues lol.
@@Lexightonportia that's awesome :) 😀 solid pick up for sure
yes because roaches eat cardboard for their food it is gross.
INFESTATION: When you buy anything like a coffee maker, that you can't open but are worried about what may be living inside.... Place item in trash bag, Put a can fogger or no pest strip in the bag, close the bag tight. Let it sit for a few days.
awesome advice!!
thanks so much for watching!
I have one of those dinosaur heads, I wear it when in my dino pajamas, love the video, keep up the great work.
can we watch Jurassic Park together in our pjs LOL
Thanks Dad! =) p.s hows that hatchet coming along =)
I adopted a snake from someone and the electric cord that came with him was polluted with bed bugs, which then tried to infest my home. Had to have someone come take care of them like you did. Check everything you take into your house.
OMG!!!! I agree everything gets checked now!
thanks so much for watching!
To my understanding bugs are attracted to any electronics and appliances! My experiences I bought a used TV at a pawn shop and it came with bugs in it .. not realizing after 4 days 🪳 and $1,500 later never again!
OOhhhh geez!!!!! Im so sorry to hear that - youre right though they live electronics
thanks so much for watching!
Another great show and haul! I thought those Galway golf club socks were really good! Love watching your show!
Thank you for the warning about the coffee maker too! Eek! ) : I would've had a heart attack. Which I know you definitely did! That was really a bummer! ) : Thanks again for sharing all the great tips!
Those headcovers and the nicest Ive seen lol i talked about them for like 5 mins and cut it down to 30 seconds LOL
Thank you so much for watching!
Always the first channel I watch when I get home from my other job...🤣 🤣 🤣 always know its going to be enjoyable and ez watch and may even learn something 😀😀 Great video as always keep grinding you doing great!!! Until next time your friend Jason.
Thank you Jason and thank so much for watching!!!
What a neatly organized store! Great haul for the day.
Yes it was! They do such a great job =)
thanks so much for watching!
Anything used can carry roaches, a friend gave me a small refrigerator that I used for my game room/den and it turn out to be a Trojan horse.
ooohhh NO!!!! The invasion is real
thanks so much for watching!
Roaches love electronics also. I always check very closely for any signs of roaches before I will purchase any electronics
Good call! I do now for sure =)
thanks so much for watching!
Then a check up appointment - lots of work due to a coffee maker LOL
thanks so much for watching!
Hi! I just started to watch your channel and today I came across these today the Olukia flip flops for 10.00. If it was not for you saying these are good I would not have know. This is not the video. But wanted to say Garcias!!
YAY!!!! Excellent pick up!!! Olukia is one of my favs I usually do a happy dance when I find them - they will sell fast =)
thanks so much for watching!
I'm going to run some vinegar thru my coffee maker right now, 😂 I bought it new but you kicked in my OCD🤪
Oh no! LOL well i might do that with mine too now =)
thanks so much for watching!
Coffee makers need vinegar cleaning ever so often..even with no bugs
If I'm not sure if bugs are included then I just put the item in a clear plastic bag and wait to see. If it's winter then it stays in the garage to freeze and suffocate.
I like that idea! =)
thanks so much for watching!
microwaves w the vent on the bottom....yup same as your coffee thing....
oh noooo!!!
thanks so much for watching!
That’s good to know about the coffee makers
yea they are no longer my friends LOL
thanks so much for watching!
simple way to get rid of roaches or any insects is mothballs. Put mothballs under and in cupboards under beds under the bath -everywhere!
great tip!
thanks so much for watching
Hairy Tornado needs that disc golf hat lol
That was exactly what I thought when I saw it. 🤣
True that - i might have to send it to him
thanks so much for watching!
@@beardedthriftmachine always bro! Love your vids
Real good deals on your finds, Julian👍👍 Gross, but thanks for the info on the coffee pot and roaches 🪳🤮
You bet!!! LOl yea def gross but a good lesson learned =)
thanks so much for watching!!!
I wish I knew more about hats!
My dad owned a pest control business and he said if you see one German roach there are 500 hidden in the walls. You did the right thing calling for help.
I read about them and told kayla we need help lol. They drilled holes and all types of stuff. Expensive but will worth it :) 😀
Thanks so much for watching!!!
That is true. We use to do house clean outs. It creeped me out when we saw a few German roaches because I knew there were 100's lurking in dark spaces. 😵 I live in Florida so they're very common. They are so hard to get rid of! They are the nastiest of all bugs to me.
I think if you can get a pet iguana and let it run around the house loose, that lizard will feed on the cockroaches. All he needs is a dish of water
That is awesome! not amount the roaches but about the chickens eating them !
thanks so much for watching!
Ducks will clean em out too . another reason i dont eat duck LOL . I had a house with them buggers and when we got the ducks no more bugs ever .
We may move to Prescott area. I'm happy to see this tip.
That will be their food source for about 3 months before the food finally runs out
Picked up a nice bedroom side table at a yard sale....brought it home along with BED BUGS!!!!
Very good possibility someone else drug it home w them 🤦♀️
ugh .. I've got the *Heebie-jeebies* now lol 🤣
OOhh no!! That horrible =(
thanks so much for watching!
yea if you know that place has bed bugs its def not worth the risk - they are so hard to get rid of. you did the right thing for sure
Thank so much for watching!
But I still doubt this was a coincidence, but WHY??
yea that is crazy!!!
Hey! I think I found your music box! It sold on ruby lane for $38. Love your channel!
Awesome! Thank you! Ill have to look that up!! That is excellent =) $38 sound about right I was actually sitting here looking it up LOL =)
thanks so much for the info and for watching!
Now I also have a no used coffee related items rule.....thank you
:) you're welcome lol :)
Thank you so much for watching!
that’s a good heads up ( no coffee machines in my future)
.. but my daughter is against me thrift for bedding and clothes … she is adamant that her 6 month debacle trying to rid scabies was from sharing my W/D laundry area… which I did feel bad for her after seeing the shampoo treatments have to be repeated 4 times. that’s my critter share.. but
I wont buy carpets pillows or pet carriers/pet products my concern for fleas and flea larvae… I love my Dogs and will never forget a apartment we lived in when we first got married… short of arson I don’t think we could’ve been rid of those pest- we ended up moving. But, shamelessly I love 2nd hand shops… I sell a couple things a week -just enough to fInance my compulsory shopping- win/win finding amazing flips and personal treasures!
yea i agree - with pet items - i usually pass on those for sure. bugs can be annoying im glad i caught these when i did
thanks so much for watching!
That may be the only way of getting rid of critters. You have to burn your house to the ground, and Hope that the eggs were burnt to a crisp and the roaches didn't escape.
LOL! From Cop to Cop and both with BOLOs🤣
lol -So true I didnt get that the first time I read it LOL
Bugs like electronics in general especially VCRs and tvs
I was just listing a VCRS i got yesterday.... bugs in the house are not my friends LOL
thanks so much for watching!
Oh wow! Not what I was expecting but yea, I've heard roaches love electronics in general
LOl I know right =) everyone loves a good bug story =)
thanks so much for watching Rachel!
This is fascinating to me
I usually only use Ebay sold comes from Ebay app on my phone. i might flash up a Mercari or google or something else but 99.9% is from ebay solds
thanks so much for watching!
Like the Kuhl pants i picked up last week all have sold but 1 and the cutco knives all have sold in a week
i hope that is helpful.
thanks so much for watching!
Great video bro. I usually watch on my tv so can never comment so figured I’d show a bit of support and comment
Thank you so much for watching and commenting and supporting the channel!
Extremely informative thank you!
Thank you so much for watching!
German roaches, double yikes!! Good to know! Love the vintage Club cookware. Nice finds.
I know right! I loove finding that Club ware and it always sells for me very fast.
thanks so much for watching!
Ants like coffee makers as well. We had that problem one year. Yuck!
OMG I think I hate ants worse then roaches I feel they are harder to get rid of. Well maybe -
thank so much for watching!
Do you get Corning Ware? I noticed some crazy inflated prices on E-Bay. Nice video!
Yes I do, but Im not 100% sure what ones are worth alot - i usually use google lens to help out
thanks so much for watching!
Another great video! Love your style✌🏻
Thanks so much!! and thank so much for watching!
Big Bertha..oh remember when they hit market
me too - when i was 11 and started playing I always wanted one =)
thanks so much for watching!

thanks for watching!
Life is always good when playing disc golf.
true that =)
thanks so much for watching!
The bugs.. 😱
yea def not a good thing! pretty gross lol
thanks so much for watching!
What do you mean by covid screening of paper and plastic products? Seriously, this is something I haven't heard.
Oh geez about the bird flu sold! Yea just a thought about bringing stuff in the house I now do lysol everything i bring in the house
thanks so much for watching!
I do lysol much of my stuff when I bring it in the house.
You probably already know this but there is info on line regarding Patagonia labels… might help you date the hat. (Let Hairy Tornado know about that disc golf hat… he’s all about that game recently 🥰).
very true =) Lol the more I looked at the hat i was thinking it was just frisbee lol =)
I did hear he said he is playing that now
thanks so much for watching!
Great pick ups!
Thanks! thanks so much for watching!
Hi Julian. I watch you every Tuesday with Kat. I notice you use a GoPro8. Mine sometimes shuts down when recording. I’ve read this is common for GoPros. Does this happen on your GoPro and what causes this? Trying to prevent this.
I now have the go pro 10 - my 8 was horrible about shutting down it was like once it started to heat up from 5 mins it would shut down. I tried everything update etc and it never worked =(
sad because they are very expensive cameras
thanks so much for watching
the 10 is a little better with it doing that.
