Great video, but I do want to say that we don't know how much Jimmy cared about his father. Jimmy's crying being an "act" was Chuck's resentful opinion, and Jimmy blaming his father was probably due to he himself being afraid of being made a victim (similar to Walter being afraid of being remembered "badly" like his own father). This is on top of the fact that Jimmy's main coping mechanism throughout the entire show is to push his feelings down until he can't feel them, and he probably wanted to avoid feeling guilty for whatever role he may have played (It's not my fault, it's just the way of the world, it's his fault for being a sucker). Also, watching this video made me realize how much Jimmy talks like his father, specifically when he's being genuine/more Jimmy than Saul.
It's nice that you did this recap but there are a lot of misinformation and mistakes, specially towards the end. To me, the biggest one is saying that Jimmy was suddenly remorse and he confessed. It was thanks to Kim, he told her to confess and she actually does and the moment the government's lawyer said that to him, something click inside him. He wanted to confessed AND save Kim from Howard's wife lawsuit

You mentioned this on three separate occasions, and I had never even considered this possibility, since during that EXACT same speech you cut WAY WAY WAY out of context, Chuck goes on to say that Jimmy's emotions are real; that he is perpetually stuck in a cycle of hurting people, then feeling genuine remorse, then doing it again, over and over. In fact, EVERY SINGLE time Chuck explains the problem with his brother, he reiterates that it is this particular cycle of hurting people, feeling genuinely sorry, and then inexplicably doing it again like a hamster on an exercise wheel, that is the reason why Chuck believes he's "not a bad person, got a good heart, but just can't help himself". You truly misunderstood Chuck's gripe with Jimmy, and this is a big one. Jimmy absolutely, 100% loved both of his parents. His feelings were REAL when he was slippin' Jimmy. Nobody in the entire show ever accused him of not loving his parents, or pretending to be sad at their passing. Nobody. Not even Chuck. Chuck always said the opposite. Chuck: "Jimmy, you hurt someone, then there's this big show of remorse, then you--" Jimmy: "It's not a show, Chuck..." Chuck: "I don't doubt your feelings are real. I KNOW they're real. I know you don't MEAN to, but you always do it again, because you just can't help yourself. In the end, you're going to hurt everyone around you. So DON'T feel bad. What's the point? Just embrace it. Frankly, I'd have more respect for you if you did." And later on, in that exact same conversation with Kim that you mentioned. Chuck: "At the funeral, nobody cried harder than Jimmy..... My brother's not a bad person. He's got a good heart. He doesn't MEAN to hurt anybody; it's just, it's just, he can't help himself ". Also, in the store, with Marco, as you pointed out, Jimmy laid all the blame for the store closing on his father for being soft. But, Jimmy also explained how we would try to warn his father that these people were stealing from him, but his father would never listen. And that his father just didn't have it in him to do what he needed to do in order to turn a profit. What we see from this is that Jimmy is unable to take responsibility for the closing of the store, and for many other things, even though he was most definitely partially responsible. It was a mixture of both sides: his father was always being conned by the grifters in the neighborhood, and, Jimmy also stole from the till. Both things caused the store to close. BUT that does NOT mean that Jimmy didn't love his father, or that he pretended to cry when his father died. Chuck literally says the opposite not three sentences after the clip you played, AND numerous other times. Remorse was a part of Jimmy's sick cycle. UNTIL he decided to take Chuck's advice to just "stop feeling bad and embrace it, because you can't help it": and THAT'S who Saul was. THAT'S the difference between slippin' Jimmy, and Saul. the mention of Cicero's name sake made me appreciate this stuff even more, its so incredibly clever that the city Saul was born in was named after the lawyer of one of the world's most influential dictators.
Cicero wasn't primarily a lawyer for a dictator. He spent most of his career trying to preserve the Republic, only to eventually have to admit the entire legal system had collapsed.
@Don Franklin Great analysis! I think that's almost 100% right. I tend to give Cicero a lot of credit for being flexible actually. He wanted to save the Republic, as in - he wanted to save the rule of law and the political system they'd used for 500 years. When Caesar said "save the Republic" he meant more saving the common people who were suffering (although ONLY the Romans, he didn't give a shit about the Gauls living a few miles away) and Caesar of course was ambitious for power in a way the Cicero simply wasn't. They were both great men, in different ways. But Cicero is the ONE guy in the story who consistently tried to prevent civil war, he didn't want his country to tear itself apart, he was willing to try anything to prevent that. I think his tendency to switch sides every so often makes sense when you realize that about him. He didn't have a strong ideological stance that he was willing to tear down the world for, like Cato. Cicero just wanted to prevent/stop the civil wars so he could save the Republic. That's my interpretation anyways.

The thing I like about this show is if you watch with empathy, you’ll notice all the little shoves people gave him into the life of crime. If you watch with apathy, you’ll blame Jimmy for everything he did and let all the other characters skate for their direct participation in creating him.
I was always surprised by the hold that Walter had over Saul. It's clear Saul is the much more experienced - and perhaps more accomplished - criminal. Saul at multiple points showed fear of Walter, but surely he had all the means to dispose of Walter himself. Guess he was just too greedy to do it.
One thing I never understood is why, when Jimmy is invited to Chuck's to meet Chuck's wife for the first time, the scene is so dark. This is before Chuck's electromagnetic aversion starts and, yes, I realize that the lights are on and there are all kinds of signs of electricity being used, yet the scene is still so dark. That had to have been a directorial choice, but why? Are they trying to suggest that Chuck, or perhaps the Chuck/Jimmy, relationship, always had a darkness to it?
Damn still kills me that Walt, Mike & Jess 1st Gf died. Wish they had a better outcome and seeing Jess make it to Alaska really hit me hard fr. I even feel bad for Saul he's my favorite character from the franchise and really wished he's life turned out good. Anyway this entire show straight up became my favorite with Ash vs Evil dead being 2nd.
This series really did a horrible job at making it seem like 02-10. Everyone was dressing like it was 2015 onward the whole time. Especially Nacho. Dude had slim fit pants that didn’t even exist at the time. Whoever was in charge of wardrobe seriously dropped the ball.

Yeah there's no way that timeline is even close to 2 months. I mean he's there the whole time Walt is in New Hampshire right? Plus before he reverted back to Saul, he seemingly spent a good portion of his time there on the straight & narrow

Even at 11 months, that doesn't seem like a lot of time after paying a ton of cash to be put into a new life. Saul was all over the national news as Heisenberg's "criminal" lawyer, right? Otherwise he wouldn't have been recognized. Wth was the vacuum repairman thinking when he placed Saul into such a visible position? Working at a Cinnabon in a busy mall where hundreds of people see him every day? Seriously?

Like me, Chuck seems like he was always a "straight arrow" guy aka "boring". People may like and respect you, but as far as wanting to have fun and party with you, uh ...not so much.
It was a domino effect. Jimmy informing Chuck's insurance about his condition led to the company wanting to raise their rate, leading to Howard pushing Chuck out of the firm, leading to his relapse and suicide. That's what the creators intended it to be. However, there are certainly multiple interpretations.

This series really did a horrible job at making it seem like 02-10. Everyone was dressing like it was 2015 onward the whole time. Especially Nacho. Dude had slim fit pants that didn’t even exist at the time. Whoever was in charge of wardrobe seriously dropped the ball.

Yeah there's no way that timeline is even close to 2 months. I mean he's there the whole time Walt is in New Hampshire right? Then think about all the time it took to plan the department store robbery, plus all the cons after where he ripped off those rich guys, and all the work it took finding them. Plus before he reverted back to Saul, he seemingly spent a good portion of his time there on the straight & narrow

It was a domino effect. Jimmy informing Chuck's insurance about his condition led to the company wanting to raise their rate, leading to Howard pushing Chuck out of the firm, leading to his relapse and suicide. That's what the creators intended it to be. However, there are certainly multiple interpretations.
