The album that started it all.
Debut album, kicked a@@
Edward Van Halen was truly one of a kind. And Michael Anthony's background vocals may be the most underrated contribution to a band in history.
I met Van Halen at the California World Music Festival 2 day event- April 7-8th 1979 at the L.A. Memorial Colosseum 80,000 + people. David Lee Roth hired my girlfriend's Chimpanzee "Chuck" The Chimp to entertain people back stage dressed just like David in Red and Yellow Silk jumpsuit. (Paid $500 per day) I held Chuck in my arms like he was a two year old and EVERYBODY came to me to see the chimp. I got to stay in their trailer and got a signed Back Stage Pass from the band. I met nearly every legendary artist that played that show. Ted Nugent was real cool, Aerosmith, Eddie Money, U.F.O.,Cheap Trick, and several other groups. I took over 100 awesome photos. It was a great time full of memories. Eddie's guitar playing is out of this world. Alex is a freakin Machine on drums, Michael is bad ass on bass, and they are the real talents in the band. Of everybody there the only real jerk/asshole/self absorbed narcissistic clown was David Lee Roth.
What an awesome memory and lineup, man, even UFO! You were living right my friend, great times.
@@vicprovost2561 The crowd loved... "Love To Love".... I got JM to do it.... Look in his playlist=U.F.O.

So Dave paid a grand in 1979 but he is an ass?
@@chrishicks2965 I've seen V.H. Live four times. Each time always the same. Yep....$1,000 Just to be a Show Off to all the other artist...He also had a REAL Army Tank with their name painted on it parked back stage. He was so load and obnoxious to everyone. He was/is a real self glorifying jerk with NO REAL Talents.
Don't feel sad because he's gone, instead be thankful he was here. That kid tilted the Earth on its axis in 1978. A virtuoso like this is once in a lifetime. Nobody does it better, no one.
that SWING tho!!!!!!
The fact that they were able to carry this one off is a testament to their talent.
Nobody can ever copy the friggin talent of this
Eddie Van Halen is one of the legendary rock guitarist I have shook both hands with at the same time making a cross between us as they smiled, and I was thrilled.
Like other bands like The Doors, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin they were essentially a three man band with a front man/vocalist.
You should react to every song on this album , whole album is 🔥 , not a bad song on it.
Another album that changed everything! 🎸
Imagine hearing this in '78🫨 Would never be the same again! That collective sound is vintage Van Halen in a nutshell 🔥🎸⚡
I remember the first time I heard them back then, which is more than I can say for most bands of the time.
I did and your right! Nobody was the same after this album broke onto the airwaves!!
Top 5 debut albums of all time, I saw Van Halen open for Black Sabbath and Eddie had all us old school Sabbath fans standing on our chairs by the time he did Eruption, people around us were screaming who is this new white Hendrix? Freaked us all out and if Iommi was not on his A Game Sabbath would have been blown off the stage (did not happen, Iommi showed who the real boss still was). Great band, especially with the early albums, before they got superstar syndrome and big heads. More from album #1, do Atomic Punk next, another banger for sure. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Nice, one of my favorite VH tracks, cheers
Eddie changed the way people played guitar 🤘🤘
On into the van Halen rabbithole, you will absolutely ❤ it😊
I cant describe how much fun it was to run to this song. I used to make sure it was timed for the finish line coming into sight. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Great song, great band! Next, check out “Take Your Whiskey Home,” released in 80. ✌️
Fire! That's a great album. It changed the world in its way. Check out "Atomic Punk", if you haven't yet.
💯💯💯
DAYUM!!!!
Dude, two words.......Mean Street. From the Fair Warning album.
EVH ❤️🔥🎸
Classic VH.
Atomic Punk wow, good ol hard rock!!!!
Edward the Great! Nice pik JM! ☘️🇺🇲
Check out Flying High Again from the live Tribute To Randy Rhoades album by Ozzy. Another great GuitarcTalent and also a hero to many.
They came out charging on this album. They showed you what the 80s were going to be about. Not the 70s anymore my friend.
That was the first song of the first band of the first concert i ever saw. These maniacs opened for Black Sabbath in San Diego in like 78 or 79. VH stole the show!!!!! UNFORGETTABLE
You should check out "Dirty Movies"
Plus, Tony Iommi didnt steal the show. People were going to their cars after Van Halen was done. Sorry, but Sabbath looked like shit that night.
