Following with interest! One of my biggest likes on RUclips has to be following new channels from the beggining stages! Tony docks / Pennyhill as examples. Looking forward to seeing the layout underway. Tim
I aim to cover as much of the journey as humanly possible. I'm in a unique position being a complete newbie, I'm able to document right from the beginning, from ideas such as this, through to planning, to sourcing materials, building baseboards and onwards :) I've about 3 more videos to do in this "ideas" series... I shalln't say what as I wouldn't want to ruin the upcoming surprises.
I like your presenting style ! Bescot has always been an interesting spot, but less so now since the coal traffic disappeared. I model mainly in OO, but have a desire to do something based on BS in N gauge to fit the main features in
Ooooo that brings back memories. Used to travel out from BIRMINGHAM NSt most weeks back in early 80s see what was on Bescot. I agree plenty of scope for very exciting layout. Please remember GOOGLE MAPS will be a tremendous resource especially if you can’t get up close to something. Will follow your journey will great interest. Please don’t worry about lack of experience, there are hundreds of modellers on RUclips and Facebook all, me incl are will to help and guide if necessary. Most of all HAVE FUN!
Always a good idea to visit the area you intend to model even if you're modelling in the past. Now you need to search for photographs of the area 85-00 which luckily should be in colour. I imagine the area has changed a lot since that time? Perhaps there were less overhead lines too? A nice first video.
It hasn't changed a great deal actually, perhaps some newer operational rolling stock but that's about it! 😂 But I will indeed be using photographs too, also google earth pro allows you to look at older satellite and aerial photography. I'll be doing a couple more videos like this as there are a few more places that I'd like to use as ideas Thanks for watching, it's much appreciated 👍
Jamie Cattell' Trains I am constructing my model train layout at the moment based on the Birmingham to Wolverhampton line, with the train era of between 2005 and today. I have always been quite fascinated by Bescot and sometime in early January bank holiday you should get the diverts coming through, fingers crossed. The diverts will be ran by Cross Country, Virgin Trains, London North Western Railway, West Midlands Railway and the new Arriva Franchise. I will be publishing my model railway soon hopefully In the new year on RUclips, but do watch some of my videos because they are based in that area and Staffordshire.
