- top 10 worst deftones songs. totally not subjective, completely objective, factual, fair and correct. weighed with the scale of truth, it was lighter than a feather. hopefully they'll still play my birthday party but knowing them they'll probably play each of these fucking songs so jokes on me

Non-artists don't understand that these 'bad songs' are explorations and experimentation. These aren't "mistakes". Corporate popstars put nothing but sugar on albums to make money. Artists explore and delve, and live in their pain, tragedies and put them on canvas. Many artists hate their most famous songs because it brings them back into the emotion or moments from where the song came from. Artists don't hide from how terrible they think they are. They put it out there fearlessly....or in utter terror.
An album full of Deftones 'hit' soundalikes would be a terrible album. You can't appreciate Deftones for real if you can't appreciate their deviations and experimentation that ultimately allows them to keep on going to new places.
You could say this to excuse literally any non-pop artists' bad songs lmao

I'm always thought Minerva sounded alot like an anthem for a country. Like the American anthem or something. Hard to explain but I always thought it sounded too given almost like I've heard that god bless you all part in another song. Pink cellphone is pretty questionable lol. Mein is not a go too of mine. Other then that, every Deftones song I've shelved came back and turned out to be a favorite of mine and that includes the whole gore album so yeah lol. Love this band.

I want to get your thoughts on this: how do you rate an album on which you dislike most of the songs but absolutely love one or a few of them? There a couple of Deftones albums where I really dislike the majority of the songs but on the other hand, one or more songs end up being some of my favorite songs ever. How can I say an album sucks if it has two of my all time favorite songs by any artist? Or how can I say it's a good album if 98% of the songs suck?
honestly id just say the album sucks but this one song is one of my all time favs. i think it's fine to just call it exactly as is because for me it happens A LOT for other artists.
id play lmirl a fuck ton and forget almost everything else on gore. it's not a top ten tones track but it was super sentimental at the time and it still plays in my mind sometimes.

Now do top 10 favorite deftones songs! For me personally, I hate pink cellphone. Besides the ending, i like it alright, but the ending is embarrassing.
I think Mascara is really emotional and I like it quite a bit "Theres something about her long shady eyes" I love that line so much.
I didn't really have a problem with the list besides that, although I'm not a very big fan of self title, especially coming off the magnum opus that is white pony. That whole album feels really stale to me..

Pink cellphone is my song it’s for the girls ig cause I just really like the lyrics and it’s experimental sound. The speech at the end has some great irony and symbolism in it. Mein deserves more smoke cause it was boring and just….. bad and bad with SERJ vocals like… what a fumble.

This band has been ever growing on me for years now and have been my favourite for a long time, the songs that I thought were mid have grown to be some of my favourite tracks. I always find myself liking a different album for months

First off Tempest is one of their best songs, I'd say one of my top 15. And close to all of ohms is frigging awesome. However I'd agree that Deftones best was white pony/black stallion. 😮😅😮

Maybe weird saying this, yet Ohms and Gore as albums haven't clicked no matter how much I try to sit through them, and listening closer to the albums preceeding those, the writing was already in Koi No Yokan, along with some Diamond Eyes material.
Gore is like popping valium, while Ohms is a whiskey-dick that wants to get up to no avail.
It was thanks to this channel I finally got around after trying to crack the enjoyment of SNW, after struggling with the lyrical content with how much context was missing for it to really click in place, but knowing it now puts it to perspective when the narrative was at its heaviest, and bleakest.
I wish the same effect could spill over to those later albums, but it's just... not.
Again, sounds overwhelmingly negative, but for such a vast catalogue with variation in soundscapes, structures, and subject matters, that whole albums and not songs (there are definitely a handful, dw) don't register is short of being odd.

There are many deftones songs I dislike (mostly from Koi No Yokan on) but none that I hate because they are such a good band that even when they make a song I don't like, I have to admit it's usually still a well made song but just not my taste.

Man, Mein and Moana are way up there. Moana's opening sounds like a beginner guitarist repeating the only two chords they know over and over, and the song goes nowhere from there. Mein starts bad, wastes Serj, continues plodding at the same tempo then finally ends before breaking us down.

I don't like mascara because its the first song that played and I listened to all of it after I got rejected by a guy I was literally infatuated with.

I lived in sac for a while.. was a sushi chef at Abe and Frank's favorite sushi spot, got to make food for them and hang with them outside of work.. they're all incredibly cool dudes, but anyways once Abe told me he doesn't like how angsty adrenaline is just reminds him of how he used to be an angsty angry teenager, we talked about how koi no yokan is pretty much their best record and he kinda agreed haha that was back in 2019 so ohms hadn't come out yet. I like your videos man.. I'll send Chino a link.. we sometimes chat on Instagram hah

I gave it a few tries, it isn't for me, the band sounds lost in this experimental sauce they been on post Diamond Eyes and the songwriting musically and lyrically has drastically gone down too, I also don't feel anything emotionally, contrast that with even the two leaked tracks from what would've been Eros, still superior to their last three/four LPs. I enjoy Gore once Hearts/Wires happened (all the tracks before felt "heavy" with no substance and were mixed muddy) but I still didn't get any feeling from it. I hope their next album is either a real return to form or objectively great @@buh1808

Gore and Ohms are not good albums. Idk what people were hearing with Ohms that they thought Deftones was back after Gore. Gore had a couple songs I could listen to but there's nothing on Ohms I can. Any semblance of something interesting lasts a few seconds or is at the end of a song. They have this overproduced clean sound on top of being pretty formulaic deftones songs.
Mascara and Rapture didn't deserve to be put on this list 🥲

Feiticeira is great, I Love the image he paints of a kidnapping; minerva is ok, overall. Not their best, specially considering how good self titled is.

@@ZHike360 the problem of feiticeira isnt the lyrics, is the song itself, remember me a lot of Lifter, the most forgetteble song of Adrenaline, the melodic singing, the screaming chorus and a small part of Chino voice with effects.
Minerva looks like they tried something exacly like Be Quiet And Drive, but just like Change, they forget about how ecletic Be Quiet And Drive is, and made a mediocre pop selfish clone.
Back To School is a rap metal version of Pink Maggit, when the rapping ends its become just a worse version of Pink Maggit.
Feiticeira has one of the greatest riffs and is one of the strongest album openers ever, tf

Pins And Neddles and Lhabia are my two favorite songs of their respective albuns.
The whipered rapping in Lhabia and the scary lyrics is something i never heard before, and Pins and Neddles have the best backing vocals of Chi, and the half rap of the bridge is amazing.
