  • Bikepacking in New Zealand South Island. We rode the Heaphy Track from Browns Hut to James Mackay hut, and back to Gouland Downs hut on full suspension mountain bikes. A trek Fuel EX 9.9 and a Santa Cruz Tallboy.
    The bridge over the Heaphy river was still destroyed after the February 2022 floods. A few days before we rode the western side of the Heaphy Track from Karamea to the Heaphy River. James Mackay Hut is as far as we were allowed to ride.

    Great video … how rough is the trail? Considering doing it on a gravel bike

      @@drTeddyJo I’d say you’d be fine on a gravel bike if you have some fat tyres. Since we did it I believe the bridge has been rebuilt so it’s possible to do the track from one side to the other.
