Spot on, boundary umpire also isn’t supposed to signal the exact millisecond the ball goes out of bounds, he has to first turn and face the field umpire before signalling, meaning no free kick was the right call
Said this before, but with the deliberate "out-of-bounds", it hinges on whether your going on the ball going over or the umpire's call of going over. The umpire didn't call out of bounds till after the siren, despite the ball being over before the siren.
The correct call was no advantage because the umpire believes that all the players around the contest have stopped and that the player that received the free kick wanted to not take the advantage.
I said this would happen months ago. 4 umpires is too many. All the extra umpire gives us is an extra unneeded set of interpretations on the field. If 3 can't keep up sack em and find people that can.
Sucks for the lions with the power outage. Commanding lead (and healthy percentage) erased with an unexpected break in momentum and a chance for the opposition to have an extra team meeting. Deserved the win in the end 50m is right call. Though the ump needed to be quicker on the whistle De Goey probably should have let him know he had more time or waved him on. Hard to do in a stadium full of supporters though Cameron and Gunstons shank were perfect punts. Almost like they ment to do that The knees were very intentional. The boot was not. Deserves a fine. Though I can't offer a solution I hate those little dog acts and wish that there was something the umps could do. But it's hard to write rules Even if that was a holding the ball you play to the whistle. That's what I was taught as a kid and what I teach my kids... They should know better Gunston is a very clever player. Really not surprised with that leg breaker. Buuuut clever doesn't give immunity to a shank Wasn't a lot more Heeney could do really. Just gotta wear it sometimes Rachelle is just what Adelaide needed. Hope he is around a long time With the extra time suspension it's how you change behaviour. Would like to see some reworking when it comes to intentional and careless though. My tweek using the last 2 weeks would be to call Pickett and Buddy intentional. No attempt on the ball and therefore it's not careless. McAdam gets the time via the impact. Broad gets either careless or international with the higher severity in injury. That way you're not relying on an injury just to get the weeks needed to put players off the biggest hits O'Brien has the coordination of a new born giraffe. That is one of the most beautifully weird tackles I've seen What's worse for Lycett is that it still results in a goal in a game where you're getting smashed... That sucks no matter how you cut it That's advantage. Every day of the week. Calling the ball back gives time to man up and completely nullified the free taking place The Freo North one is (I'm guessing) an old rule. The umpire had to make the call before the siren sounds. Seems before cameras and a little archaic. In the replay I watched I think you even hear the field ump say "make the call". But rules are rules. Freo shouldn't have put themselves in that position Forget the goal posts Ugle-Hagan almost missed the boot with that Bang on call from the ump. We like to dunk on the umps for poor decisions (Sholl play on in Port v Crows tonight anyone?) so credit where it's due With the out of bounds not called, people forget that the entire ball needs to cross the line. Great call Wow. I started this video early this morning. I'm just finishing now. Sometimes you're just to busy. Great vid mate. I love the oddities every week. Also how nice is it to beat Port in a Port home game!! God it's been a while. Go Crom
The rule is that the boundary umpire must blow the whistle for out of bounds before the siren The rule: For the avoidance of doubt, if immediately before hearing the siren to end a quarter, a field Umpire is of the opinion that a Player should be awarded a Free Kick or a Mark, the field Umpire shall signal that play has come to an end and then award the Free Kick or Mark to the Player. A Free Kick will not be awarded where the football has been kicked and, after the field Umpire has heard the siren, lands Out of Bounds On the Full or insufficient intent.
better the afl respond to CTE lawsuits this way, if that is what it is, than denying the well established connection between concussions and CTE, which some other leagues are doing.....
For the deliberate, the boundary umpire has to signal out of bounds before the siren, which he had not done.
Spot on, boundary umpire also isn’t supposed to signal the exact millisecond the ball goes out of bounds, he has to first turn and face the field umpire before signalling, meaning no free kick was the right call
Thanks for the clarification
2:38 wasn't holding the ball because he actually kicked it.
Yea that's true, just odd that everyone stopped
Crom played really well this week. He’s up and about, get around him.
Gotta love some crom
Really underrated youtuber. Keep going i will always watch them and support your grest vids
Thanks for that, appreciate it

That's very true, thanks for the clarification.
they didnt pay the deliberate before the siren, they cant pay any free kicks after the siren and the field umpire was to slow to call his whistle
That's true, thanks for the comment
The boundary always have the best view so I'm sure the ball stayed into the field of play.
It definitely looks like it did. Players just weren't aware
The correct call was no advantage because the umpire believes that all the players around the contest have stopped and that the player that received the free kick wanted to not take the advantage.
Yea fair call, but they also call some weird advantages when there is no advantage
Sham to the Brisbane Melbourne game for the power outage😅😅😅
Haha that's a good one
I got home and I thought my tv was not working
You left out Frederick trying to take Goldy off the mark and getting tackled.
I must have missed that one
You missed the awkward moment when Cripps went for a high 10 and was absolutely left hanging by the Curnow brothers
Oh no I missed that one, you don't leave your skippa like that
the umpiring in the dons suns game was absolute dog shit, last nights collingwood-richmond was pretty questionable as well
I said this would happen months ago. 4 umpires is too many. All the extra umpire gives us is an extra unneeded set of interpretations on the field. If 3 can't keep up sack em and find people that can.
Some really weird decisions were made, I agree

Thanks for the comment as always. Always so much in there to digest. Agree with what you've said as a whole. Always great to beat Port.
Reilly O’brien did a Rey mysterio on nankervis😂😂😂
How good was that tackle though

That's true. Thanks for the clarification. It was borderline but in real speed it seems about right
