There is no need for the Knicks to target expensive older injury prone players.
The fit is there the money not so much however including Randle in a potential trade for PG makes no sense for the Knicks.
They’re both injury prone. One is older is on the decline. I go with the young guy.

Randle is in the final year of his contract. He will command $45M+ per. Knicks should not give that much for him. As such, he should be traded. Paul George is a better player defensively, a better 3-point shooter, and is a more reliable ball handler and ball scorer than Randle. If the Knicks cannot get a three-point shooting PF like Markinnen or whoever, then getting Paul George is NOT a bad idea IF it's for the right price. Three year contract perhaps.

I disagree on the SG part of your statement. Donte proved himself worthy of the starting spot this year, his contract is a great value for the next three years, and the fact that he plays mostly off the ball is an asset to us, not a liability.

it was just last year there was talk that maybe Paul George should retire, his lack of durability has been that much of an issue for four straight seasons. how anyone would even think about handing him a hefty long-term contract now is beyond me. and PG didn’t even do anything this postseason against the Mavs, so what can we expect if we actually have to face the top teams in the East who have the size and bring tough defense? we need much younger, more durable talent, to sync up with Jalen’s timeline

PG at 34 does NOT move the needle for the Knicks being contenders. The cons greatly outweigh the pros, especially when Randle is 29, in his prime, and playing at an all-nba level.
@@matteZ2109 Are you paying Randle $45M per next summer? If not, then we need to take what we can get. PG might not give as much volume as Randle, but he's a better wing defender, better 3-point shooter, and more reliable 1st option in crunch time.

I dunno, I do like PG, but giving a 34-yo player who's already seen a lot of injuries a hefty 3-4 year contract seems like a bad idea. And I don't like the idea of losing Randle to get PG.

For $48M, Its hard to justify him being 3rd or 4th option. Not including the pieces we have to give up.

I got a little bit of a long range question...I don't think Julius Randle is worth a new extension of 3 years 181 million which would start after this coming season and u add the 30 mil this year....that's 4 years at 211 million....I don't think Randle is worth that...I would rather if it was possible...sign Obi Toppin for the 12.9 exception and let him be the new long term 4.....from that standpoint maybe u have to consider Randle and boggy...for somebody

Not sure we would be having this conversation if our key players were healthy for the playoffs. I'm okay with seeing what we can do. Not sure I would trade Randle for PG... could be a step back if we let Randle go for PG. IDT Leon makes that trade... but man, hard to resist a chance at having OG and PG!!

Don't tear down what you got going on a finesse player like PG, doesn't fit the Knick at 50 million a year. Do your homework Knicks there are young players out there that you can add to this team. More players will present themselves. Think about what you need, somebody else that needs to be doubled, right now we only have Brunson. PG don't command a double team.
