Now knowing Larry Browns coaching g style, if you showed him this interview with Channing Frey saying all this shit, his response would be. “I needed him to toughen up, rebound better and play better defense. All that offense will come on it’s own, I need to see the effort on the defensive end.” And the man may have a point... I remember thinking, if only Eddy Curry and Channing Frye could play with the heart, effort and intensity as Malik Rose, we’d be a better team. LB was also being micromanaged and flat out undermined by management. He had Isaiah Thomas pushing him to play certain players more minutes and he forced Larry Brown to inherit all of the assistant coaches who were all handpicked by Isaiah Thomas. Guys like Mark Aguirre and Brendan Suhr, those guys were Isaiah‘s boys from his days back in Detroit, and were going back and telling Isaiah everything. I always thought Larry Brown wasn’t given a fair shake in New York. He is a good coach but let’s face it, that roster stunk. The conditions he was forced to coach a crappy team under were terrible.

Yeah, the whole situation with the Knicks was terrible. For one, Larry does eventually wear on guys....That's why he bounced around so much in his career. I'm a Sixers fan, and he was GREAT for us, but, he and AI eventually got sick of one another and he had to move on. But, this situation was bad from the jump. He had a miserable roster with weird pieces like what was left of Steve Francis, and Penny Hardaway, and then TONS of young players that had talent, but weren't ready to win yet. And also, what you said is dead on about him not being able to hire his own staff. So yeah, that was a doomed scenario from the beginning. Larry wasn't a fit for that team, but NO ONE would have been with the Knicks during those days. That's why they went through coaches like people change their drawers
