As a German and WT-Fan, I saw this live and immediately found the idea of the band performing in a show like this cringeworthy. This show is a Schlager/Bubblegum Pop festival - one of the reasons for the playback. Itself not bad, but certainly not for this kind of music.
Since this song is one that is more pop oriented I guess it kinda made sense but damn.... As a german I can say that "Fehrnsehgarten" is a really shitty tv show for grandparents. But what bugs me the most is that you HAVE TO perform full playback and WT is probably one of the few artists that actually can play their songs live. Usually they let pop artist or folk/hits artist play there that are used to have full playback on their performances anyway. I hope their label paid them a lot for this torture :D
Age has nothing to do with it. It's because she made an artistic choice to do that. This song with its more pop style music would not work if she sang it in a higher soprano style voice. There are acoustic versions of it where she does use a higher voice because it's more suited to the slower acoustic music. All good singers like Sharon know how to make vocal choices to suit the style of music. In 2023/24 she still sounds fantastic no matter the style.
yeah a lot of tv shows force the artists to do playback because they dont have the technique to record it live. They probably do play and sing live but still the production puts the mp3 sound over it because their recordings are too crap. You see them do tvshows often with an accoustic song: because that is easier for the tv production to get the sound right.
