Those glass KONE lifts are definitely on my list for filming when I eventually get to London, intending to stay overnight if I go for probably a city break due to the number of lifts I want to film.
Those glass modernised KONE lifts are epic. I believe they were very first lifts I ever filmed. I remember making an iMovie of them called The Lifts Of Doom on my iPod Touch (which is what I filmed them with). Simpler times... :D
I think the voice which those glass Kones used to have before they were modernised was an early version of the Ecodisc voice. Do you remember the announcements? “Doors closing, Doors closing, Doors closing” repeated until the doors were fully shut and the floor announcements “You are at Third Floor Level, You are at Third Floor Level”. The original lifts were from 1996. I wonder if the voice was original to the lifts, or if it was added on. Why did Kone never use the early version of the Ecodisc voice with the 1st generation Ecodisc? They always used Drucegrove instead. I also find it quite stupid that they still haven’t updated that sign on the motor room window (4:54). Surely they should’ve updated it or removed it by now. People must be confused when reading that lol!
That voice always sounded like the voice found on Schindler Smart MRLs (and later 3300s) to me, I used to find that voice hilarious when I was younger.
@@wolfdevil9771 Oh yeah, I know that Schindler voice. The 2 voices do sound quite similar actually. Yeah, those old announcements were certainly something! I wish there were some other installations which had that voice unit. Would be interesting to hear if there’s any funny hidden messages in there such as nudge mode or overloaded capacity. “YOU ARE in excess of this lift’s capacity, YOU ARE in excess of this lift’s capacity” 😂
@@Lift.Tracker I reslly wish I could’ve heard the nudge announcement if there was one, there were a lot of rare announcements in this lift, I seem to remember a video taken by anjasomn about a decade ago of these lifts, and the doors got stuck at one of the floors and the voice got very confused. 😂😂
Only 1996 wow surprised Kone effectively replaced all the equipment so soon on a lift they installed from new normally find manufacturers can look after their own stuff. I remember the doors going mad in one video from a while back before the modernisation
I have a feeling it used to be the Pickerings. The one that went lift approaching level 2 lift approaching second mezzanine. I notice this one now goes 0-1-2-3 so the daft numberings gone to it would seem. I only say this as the Pickerings ain’t there anymore.
@@TheUKTransportBlogger the pickerings are in the welcome wing and they were the only lifts I actually went in, they got a dewhurst mod and they are lift set F not lift C
@@TheUKTransportBlogger they’re right at the other end of the building to the holed hydraulics on the ground floor and close-ish to the kones but you can only access the pickerings lifts on the ground floor

Couldn't say exactly but I think it was towards the back but it was over 2 years ago now so all I can say is search and you'll find it.
Is the schindler (Lift C) a new addition or a replacement? I don’t remember it being there when i came in very early 2019
