I actually bought a cab from the same seller, and it is coming in a couple days. Was cool to see this. FYI, the 220v is because the cab was used in China. Japan uses 100/110v depending on your location. Glad to see yours arrived in good shape, can't wait to "unbox" mine 🤣
Same cab was also manufactured in the UK for sale to Europe so operated 100-110 for Taiwan/Japan at several frequencies as well as 220-240v European voltages.
That's freaking RAD my brotha! 2500 with shipping is a great price especially with how good of a shape it is. I'm looking at later down the line at a Vewlix or Chewlix cab. We played on one last month at a retro arcade and I just fell in love with it! Keep up the great work and as always, stay clean, stay safe and game on my brotha!
What a dream, I ordered a unico nova blast instead just because I don’t have enough space available, but in case I manage to get more space, this candy cabinet will be my next goal 👏
I love it I currently have a Vewlix L 2 player. I’ve been wanting an Astro city for a while. The only scary thing is the curved monitor and finding replacements
Freaking sweet! I’ve been looking around. Found a Namco candy cab locally, but has 19” LCD…. I think this is pretty ideal for my future plans. Candy + Mistercade
I want one so bad. There is a local game shop who has an arcade in the back with 20 Candy Cabs. Love going there and playing all the games, most are Japanese roms. 6 bucks admission and free play but I would love to have one in my personal arcade. Great video and I am looking forward to seeing your project completed. 😎
Holy shit! Awesome! I’ve been trying to find one without having to sell a kidney which has been impossible. Those large monitors are so sick. I’m putting a mistercade in it if I ever find one.
Japanese candy cabs are super choice and definitely on my list. I've even got a Aleck64 PCB already. Don't know if I'll be going with Astro City specifically but the Sega pedigree is a winner. For collectors who want that style but with more modern technology Viewlix might be a better option.
Awesome pickup, I left a comment on a cool MiSTerCade alternative (not a replacement but easier to source at the moment) you might be interested in checking out, but the comment is gone now, weird. Anyhow, congrats on the pickup and I'm glad it made its way to you safely; it looks clean! I'm stoked for you!
6:27 its a noise filter, to prevent the cabinet electronics from interfering with other analog devices, not really needed when you only have one cab, but in Japanese arcade centers operators used to have like 100+ of these. If I were you, I would not replace the jamma harness with any of the crap that is sold on the Internet these days, the quality of the cables and jamma connector that Sega put in those cabinets cannot be found in any of the Chinese parts that are currently available.
The Astro's manufactured in the UK at least were dual voltage and supported both a range of 100-110v Asian voltages as well as 220-240v European voltages out of the box.
I'm considering the exact same buy. Same price. What are your thoughts on the ordering process? Are there any questions I need to ask or things I need to interrogate them about before buying? They're being honest and stating all screens have some burn in at least! 😂
The process is straightforward and they will send pictures and video before it ships. See if they will give you a choice of game board. Also, use a service like PayPal. If something goes wrong you can use them to pressure seller and ever get your money back.
@@19kfox thanks. I think unfortunately this seller doesn't accept PayPal (probably for those reasons). The seller is Jclgames and I've heard great things so perhaps it's slightly risky...
Btw, naked screw on panel is for grounding wire from amp up connection on cabinet body. It’s supposed to be there
That is awesome. Great addition to the arcade. Well done Sir.

Nice. Who is the seller? I would love to get one.

That's hard core dedication! Good stuff!
I feel you on the green & pink buttons. I go with stuff I don’t like all the time to be authentic which ultimately makes me appreciate it more 😁
Nice find. Add an FPGA MisterCade and you'll have it all!
Fantastic video. That’s an awesome edition for the collection. Love that monitor
Cool item to have. Thanks for showing it off!
That form factor is growing on me.
Nice! I love my Astro City, looks like you got one in good shape. Take care of that sweet, sweet candy!
What a dream, I ordered a unico nova blast instead just because I don’t have enough space available, but in case I manage to get more space, this candy cabinet will be my next goal 👏
Cool novelty, can't wait to see it restored with the new controls.
Oh that's pretty clean buddy. Thar green and pink us gonna be nice..

wow amazing job rewiring!!!!
Sweet! Congratulations.
I'm down with anything Sega. Cool beans Fox 👍
That thing looks sick nice add to your amazing selection
That’s awesome brother! Congrats again ! 🦊🥃
I'm Hoping Unico proceeds with their potential project with one of these for either Neogeo, Sega or Capcom ver. Form factor is great.
I am so so happy you never got robbed Fox!!! Congrats Brother!!!
I definitely prefer the not robbery over the robbery. 🦊👊🏼
Not my style but I can appreciate its uniqueness and why someone might need to have it. WTG on the score!
That’s awesome, Foxxy! I would love to own one of those!
Great pickup!
Freaking sweet! I’ve been looking around. Found a Namco candy cab locally, but has 19” LCD…. I think this is pretty ideal for my future plans. Candy + Mistercade
I absolutely love the form factor. 🦊👊🏼
Thank you for making this video. I prefer candy cabs over American candy cabs. I think you made a good investment.

😮😫💯 don't those come with an optional riser type thing as well? 🤔
Awesome Pickup!

Candy Cabs beer and cigarettes. What a past time!

So jelly!!!
Something about the candies, I have a whole bunch of Arcade1up, but my favourite cab is an old neogeo candy 29

Thanks Ralph, I’ll check my comments. It might be held for review if you posted a link. 🦊👊🏼
@@19kfox oh yeah, I did (duh) my bad, I should know better. I’m sure that’s what it is. Doh 🤦🏻♂️ Congrats again man! It looks super super clean!!! 🧼
Looks like a cool project👍
One of my Favorite Arcade Cabinets!
In the us we measure viewable screen (27”) whereas Japan measures tube face (29”.).Technically both are correct from a perspective

I’ve got a harness from another Astro city cab that’s in better shape.
I want one.. so cool Fox!
I have bought a jamma switcher off aliexpress, this could be an option to run the original tech and a pbox.
That unit, if it was wired for 220v more than likely actually came from Hong Kong and not Japan.

Astros weren't manufactured in the UK though?

Was this from.JCL gaming?
No. Their contact email is in the video description.
@@19kfox i checked the website and the surroundings etc look identical. I ordered a NAC to the UK.
This is awesome! Can you please share a link/source where you got this from? Thanks!
I’ll put it in the description.
@@19kfox I haven’t found the link/source in the description yet. These are really hard to find so any help would be appreciated!

I bet it weighs a ton
Japan uses 110v 👀
Congrats. It’s a lot shorter than I thought it would be. I see a riser build in your future.
wow a cab thats worth a shit, 1up is just toys od arcades cheap shit
