Another great video Karl, thank you. Ps. When I was a kid, nobody would teach you anything! It’s very gracious of you to share your knowledge to everyone.
I think most decent players still get out fairly consistently from that safety on the 7 ball. I think it's best to either go for the bank if the table is accepting of those sort of shots, or instead (as the place I play at is not very accepting of long banks) play the same sort of safety as the first example (of what not to do) except using the 8 rather than the 9. It certainly requires some speed control and will be a total sellout if not executed correctly, but it's usually no where near as difficult as it seems after a little practice.
Hi Karl. I don't like the first one but the second one is awesome! Thanks. In the first one I would hit the ball square so the double hit will send the cue back up table leaving the object ball near its current position. What do you think?
Only amature players do double hit safety. It is high chance you hit it not straight and left open shots. And if you leave object ball and cue ball close, it would be easy for opponent to do a simple 2/3 rail safe back to you
@@duyi619 You are correct because I am an amateur but I've practiced it and feel more comfortable with it, which makes me feel have a higher percentage to accomplish the goal. Thanks for your reply.
you don't often see snooker players go for safety #1, I guess because clipping the ball thin from full table distance is tricky? They usually try to hit it so that the balls go to the two sides.
Hi Karl... Thanks for the informative videos!! It's great to have insight into the safes! The more I watch and learn, the more I'm seeing the safety options, myself!!
Option 2 on the five ball. If there is a chance that you can't hit the five and giving ball in hand, or accidentally leaving a shot on the five. If there is a possibility of giving ball in hand, hit the seven to the head rail opposite of the six ball. Especially if you are playing a weaker player.
Lovely video again my friend. Tbh years ago yes a was a #BallBanger lol not anymore plus I would of done what you done in the first demo when you said it feels wrong at the start. Has you say distance is key. Two fantastic safety shots my friend phenomenal 👏🏻. #PoolLife ❤🎱
I don’t like the 1st one rail first kick because there is a chance it could 1) jaw up in the pocket, 2) it’s really not that good of a safe and 3) if you make it you then have no shot on the 8 ball. Good choice on the 2nd safety shot. Oh, and I’m not a banger, I finesse almost all my kicks unless I’m trying to create distance I’ll up the speed by about a 1/3 of you banger off the table shot (lol). Love the grey on black that’s how I have my 9’er set up & with 4” pockets. Cheers
Playing for a few years now and hadn't really thought about playing off the rails. I was getting tired of double kisses or being too thick or too thin, I reckon off the rails would actually be easier to control than full contact, %age-wise as Karl says. Cheers for adding some creativity to my arsenal. P.S. Karl's walls need more posters.
Incredibly valuable video for a player of my skill level ( I often safe myself if my opponent doesn't 😔). Will definitely practice these. Btw, if the wager is low and I've had more than 3 pints... #ballbanger may be engaged 😵😂
Carlito's way on 1st one seems too risky. Flick off it thin it from the other side and spin to get down to end rail. 2nd shot, what would Efren do?? 😉 I like the way you played it.
For the second case. I would play slow speed..hit the bottom rail an just hit the 5 ball..just enough to make 5 touch the side rail..and we leave pretty much nothing.
Not only is it very speed sensitive, it's net zero play.. sure, it's a containing shot, but at a certain level you know you're going to get a lock down safety in return.. Karl talks about playing percentages, his shot is better by a good amount.
#BallBanger I learned about pocket speed this year, every once in a while my speed and power control go out the window. I sometimes feel the only way to get a power draw is with power. I am learning it's more about technique.
Shot one has potential but you did not hit it well in both attempts, you're leave left your opponent out or with a better safety position than you had to start with. The second safety was very good and very useful. Thank you!
Just watched the first example. Both were poor safeties both left shots or better defense, as stated by the commenter. However, the 7 is makable as a cut.
1st scenario and safety is not too helpful. A decent player would pot that 7 ball even if it is a thin cut coz you put the object ball closer to a pocket.
You're an awesome player, but saying that both attempts on the first set up were good....can't believe you actually believe that yourself. Having said that, rail first is a superb tip, especially on the 2nd set up
Another great video Karl, thank you. Ps. When I was a kid, nobody would teach you anything! It’s very gracious of you to share your knowledge to everyone.
No problem Jeffrey glad you like them

When the distance is not that big this would be an option. But in this case it is dangerous
Oooo the double hit is so hard to execute I wouldn’t fancy my chances 💪🏻
7:10 "OH, we've done it again. Stop it." The always funny Karl Boyes. 😄

great advice, I'll be practicing these shots today. I'm not a ball banger but still launch off table via poor jump ball efforts
Good luck bro
Thank you I watched Darrell do that last safety on his channel too. Thank you for the safety lessons.
Maybe I’m seeing the first shot wrong but wouldn’t an end to end safety work well too?
That’s an option too I’m just being creative 💪🏻😊
Love your videos. Could you do a video on Masse? If so? Thank you ahead of time.
Sure thing it will come 💪🏻
@@KarlBoyesPoolLifeThank you so much
Love it karl especially the second shot
Much appreciated
Thanks drew 💪🏻
Great video Karl . Thanks for the helpful explanations and these shots are great . 💪💪🎉🎉🎉
Thanks a lot glad you like
Second is a shot David Alcaide plays frecuently. Pretty intuitive for 3-cushion billiards players. Great shot #boxoffice
Thanks Jesus 💪🏻
Love the content the first one Ive definitely seen. The second one is def a good one and I havent seen it. Respect sir!

Thanks Jason 😄
Thanks karl very helpful things to work on and try improve my game 👍
No problem buddy
Nice safetys!! Know the 1st, not the second. Thx for the shot for me bag!
Cheers ronnie 👏
That’s a really good safety. Will start working on it.
Good luck pal

With a slick table, rail first will be a little harder for the first position. I think
Nice safe shot . Put it in my memory bank
Your mannerisms remind me of Steve Irwin. Nice vid!
Kinda take that hahaha
Great tips! Never seen any of these two…

For this kind of content, you deserve 100k subs. not 10k. And as always thanks Karlito.
Make it happen 😛 I guess it’s a slow rise to the top 💪🏻
Good stuff Karl! :)
Karlito 😂 that second one is money!
Good stuff!
For that first safety, I prefer to double kiss the cue ball back towards me keeping the 7 close to where it started.
Ughh Karlito🥵
I hope Karl is 5th pick for Mosconi cup this year….Go USA! 😂 love the content thanks bud!
I am vice captain maybe I should make it happen hahaha
@@KarlBoyesPoolLife is Chris melting playing?
The pros might play a double kiss on the first shot. object ball stays there cue ball kicks down toward bottom rail.
Second one is nice for snooker
Yes it works well in snooker also

Very true Karlito.
For the second case. I would play slow speed..hit the bottom rail an just hit the 5 ball..just enough to make 5 touch the side rail..and we leave pretty much nothing.
To Difficult….you have to hit it with exactly the right speed. Karls Option is better

Off the rail you could scratch in the opposite corner

I got my own safety shots .hit it thin practice hitting thin on the object ball on t-shirt rail you will be surprised

My camera angle was bad it was thinner than it looked 🤣😎

I believe the position I was in it’s a fantastic % shot 😊😊😊
your first two attempts on the first situation rail first is not fantastic as you said, those 2 attempts are so pocketable.
The 40 ... 60 rule.
If you are not 60 % sure you are running out DO NOT go for it...
Never heard that one like it but maybe more 90% hahaha
