Having gone through the experience as a kid moving from San Diego to Manila, almost 40 years ago, I had to rely on my parents and relatives to teach me the ways of life here. It greatly healped that my new friends, classmates, and teachers were all helpful and genuinely wanted to help me when I needed it, whether it be trying to understand and speak Tagalog, to explaining to me the culture and what's the norm. And this was in a generation where there wasn't any technology and internet yet. You and your family are lucky to have all these developments and services that can assist your everyday life and make the transition much more seamless and easier. I am impressed with your kids during this transition. Hope they're having the time of their life with this new chapter. Don't stress out, just immerse yourself in the experience and you'll look back at these fond memories and either smile or laugh at them. Take care!
It’s going to be fine. You are probably learning now that you need “tons” of patience when you are there. People are very friendly but things and services do not come as quickly enough as in the US. So, you need to be patient and accept the reality of it. Once you learn to accept it, you will have less stress and be more happy... The social life there is really great.

I have a problem when my fellow Filipinos tell foreigners to accept slow service and processes. Instead we should tell the government to bring the Philippines into the modern age more quickly.
@@travellolo Just telling the truth.. .. It is the reality. The government does not need to be told to improve the service… Filipinos have told them for so long…. So, it is what it is. Just saying.
Keep up the Good work guys! Your son is a natural foodie and RUclipsr! Enjoy your time and make some wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing your lives with us!
I remember moving to the states 30 yrs ago, I also have difficulty in adjusting with people, winter months fast pace of life took me a year to adjust. They 25 years later mo e back to PH need some adjustments but everything goes fine and we became happier. I want the kids to grow up the Filipino way to be resilient and family loving. We move because of our kids and thank God we did. America is lonely and people just stay indoors the reason for them to have mental issues plus no longer safe as before. Hey Christina, the foremost advice foreigner’s give when moving to the Philippines is…… the first thing you have to pack is your patience. Everything comes down to perspective. If you concentrate on finding the up side to every situation, you’ll live a much happier life. Whenever I need a little positive perspective in life I revisit this RUclips video from “It’s Me” the (How I feel after living in the Philippines for a month). That will cheer you up immediately. BTW, Happy 12th Birthday Kuya🎉🎂🙏🏼

@@LLVT you guys are awesome🙏🏼 I can relate to Christina because I’m the exact same way, even here in Toronto I get short tempered with traffic and upset when things are out of stock but I try to focus on the upside as much as possible. When I move to the Philippines, it’s definitely going to be in the province😃
I appreciate your candidness about your moving experience. It's okay to cry your stress and frustrations away, I hope it helps make you feel a little better. The humidity here in the Philippines can really zap all the energy in your body. Always keep hydrated. As I've said before, the boys are just amazing throughout your journey. All the best to your family. 🙏

I know its been rough and it took for me 2 months to acclimatize when i moved with my children to Philippines. The process of enrollment for them to go to school, just about everything. I was used to comfort the things that are easily accessible the material things. etc. the fast paced of life. But one day I started to enjoy slow life in the Philippines free from the stress of a fast paced life in the states. Just be patient its the process of adjustment, Take Care you All. God Bless
I'm amazed at how well your son describes the food and his experienes. You got a future chef and a vlogger right there. He's better than some vloggers out there.

For me because I’m going to Philippines these October, first thing you notice the weather humidity and hot as well. Only at the beginning around 1 week or more encounter that situation but day by day those tiredness will be gone once you see the beauty of Philippines Specially Christmas time..
Everyone who makes a big move from one country to another is not easy. We've experience that ourselves decades ago. It's really going to be emotional, stressful and that's is normal and you just accept it. Eventually, you'll get adjusted to all things and it'll get better and better each day. What's important is you are all together on this move. A lot of couples or families gets separated if one has to work overseas. Things will be good overtime. Many expats or foreigners retire in the Philippines.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave us your advice, we are glad to still be able to stay together and spend quality time with our kids. Ingat ’til next time ✌🏼🇵🇭

Your viewers wish you nothing but the best and happiness. Can’t wait for you guys to settle down and start going to places such as Boracay, Palawan, Tagaytay, and many other beautiful places in Philippines. One of many vacations I’ve had in Philippines felt like I was still in U.S. due to the city vibe, but once I got to Boracay, the anxiety went away, it was pure bliss, happiness, and relaxation.
Things will get better. Your boys are wonderful. I'm so impressed at how well behaved they are. I love Kuya's food reviews. When I was in the Philippines a couple years ago I had issues with the cell phone too. You're a wonderful family. I'm a new subscriber who enjoys your videos. You sons obviously have the Filipino blood! That's just how Filipinos are! RESILIENT, STAYS POSITIVE AND PATIENT! We do have little but we try our best to make ends meet.
For me, Province living is where its at. Manila is a different beast. It's densely populated, horrible traffic in any direction, higher crime rate, not to mention the pollution. But its all relative. Give it time and things will settledown.

Thank you very much for taking us to IKEA in Pasay City guys! Whenever I go to the PH, I usually lower my expectations. Or else I’ll go nuts if I’m gonna compare the efficiency here in the US. But I do admit that whenever I’m there, I feel free, from stress, worries and anxiety level goes down for sure. Looking forward to retire there in 3.5 more years unfortunately and definitely for good. Take care guys, always be aware of your surroundings. hang in there. you guys will get use to everything in the wonderful Philippines. Take it from me, our was in the military & we moved (diff country) every 4 yrs for over 20 yrs. Pls enjoy the moment & you guys all take care.
You will get used to it soon after living in the 🇵🇭 for so long. But PH is a great country to lived in aside from beautiful beaches and islands, and also all Filipino dishes are all good. Great tandem of mother and son and a son as a future blogger!👍👍🇵🇭🇵🇭
The fastest and easiest way to adjust to a new environment is to accept them as they are. Once you finally accept how things move in the Philippines, your expectations will change and then you won't get stressed anymore of minor things. Hubby is pinoy so you can learn from him. I'm sure that he is resilient and don't get stressed right away.

its very understandable to be emotional and stressful at times but its also great that u guys are well aware that there are things u can't control and just accept the circumstances sometimes. As long as u guys are together and be there for one another and help each other in every way of your journey, u guys will strive and be ok. no one can prepare the difference of humidity in the Philippines compared to the US like Florida, for example. I, myself, am dreading as well when i move there the inconvenience of things that we took granted for when living in the US. But hopefully i will be prepared and patient and take things slowly as u guys have done. i wish u guys good luck and good journey to ur new life and vlogs to come!
Thank you so much for the positive support! we appreciate it so much and the inconveniences truly are minor as long as we are happy, healthy and together :)
I understand how you have mixed feelings and emotions about leaving a home for another home. If only you can have both worlds at the same time....I am happy to see your kids in very good spirits, and I think they are a good source of strength, aside of course from your husband. "out of stock" nowadays seem common. There are a lot of factors involved. Current crisis around the globe and natural calamities seem to add to the problem. The war involving the biggest supplier of wheat etc must have some effect. The soaring prices of fuel seem to affect deliveries. People nowadays are more conscious about their trips.I really think that its only now that "out of stock issue" wasnt the case before.
Hello watching here..as what I have mentioned before that moving to another country is not that easy...but you will get use to it. Just be patient. First time is always the hardest. Have fun in the Philippines ☺️.

Don't stress too much about certain things. It will take time to adjust. Moving to a different country will either make you or break you. I understand and know exactly where you are coming from since my entire family went through this too. We moved a lot when we were children because of my parents' work. My mom is half Pinay and when they had a chance to live work in the Philippines, she went for it. She believed that immersing her children and learning about our Filipino heritage is very important. The Philippines became our home base in Asia and stayed there for 5 years. This was in 2005. It wasn't a difficult transition for me since I was a child but harder for my older siblings who were already in their teens. They were used to convenience after being in Japan/Singapore. In the Philippines we started from scratch and lived near Tondo where my folks worked in the slums. So we were exposed to the other side of the Philippines that foreigners don't often see. But things became easier as we learned Tagalog and adjusted. Unfortunately, we never got used to the traffic and Filipino time 😂 Anyways, my advice is to take things slow. There will be days when you just want to go back home but keep an open mind and have plenty of patience. Patience is very important especially living in developing nations. There are also certain beliefs that will have you scratching your head. It is a different country after all. It's always harder to adjust to new places when we are used to living a certain way of life and have plenty of conveniences like a nice warm shower and fast internet 😂 but you'll get there. Once you get the vibe, the Philippines will feel like a much more relaxed and definitely super friendly place than the US. People are happier despite not having much. Enjoy the warm weather, the beaches and the friendly people! But also be prepared for the bad side like brown outs, flooding, garbage everywhere, stray animals (sometimes people hit them intentionally!) and the children begging in the streets. Despite all that, we still reminisce about our wonderful experience. The Philippines is one of my favorite countries and visit every two years to see friends. As an American, my childhood there was more enjoyable than time spent in the US. My siblings and I had nothing but fond memories. I'm thankful to my parents for the experience and now their grandchildren are enjoying spending their holidays there too. I hope you and your children will be able to create wonderful memories.
Wow! This is such a beautiful and sweet comment :) thank you for sharing your thoughts and insight, it is exactly why I know that we are making a great decision for our family. Salamat po and ingat 'til next time!
it takes about a week or two to acclimatize to the weather here. when my family visits manila from CA (Bay Area), they sweat for a week :) a few things: tap water isn’t reliable, so always bring bottled water wherever you go. just refill your bottled water. if you’re in a restaurant, order bottled water. many a times my family would have stomach problems because of the water. i know how it feels to be in a new place. i used to travel to different countries to work. but once you get to know the area for a few months, you’ll start feeling at home. i’ve always thought home is not a place, but rather “home is where you are”….if you have ANY questions, whatever they are (where to visit, buy/eat stuff, etc.) i may be of help. just give me a holler here.
Everything that you mentioned about IKEA, the crowd, lines, feeling like Disneyland, items being out of stock, etc are all common for IKEA at least in the ones I’ve been to here in the states. And these are all established stores, not newly opened like one in the PH. Super jealous tho that we don’t have any beef menu here in the US at our Ikeas👎🏼 All that you did in such a short amount of time, in just two weeks and moving two times is a lot. I feel that mommy needs a break. Along with vlogging, editing, etc it’s just a lot. Whether there in the PH or anywhere. Hubby needs to give you just 2-3 days to relax with the amigas and grown ups. Get a massage, I’m sure you already know, super cheap there even in the Metro area compared here in the US. I’m also in CA btw. Get some lash extensions and mani-pedi, again Uber cheap there and the services is just to the next level even in the metro area. I’m sure the hubby and kids would be fine with giving you some much needed alone time. And finally, remember that you live in the islands now, no need to rush, just get used to the pace and destress. Things will not always go as planned. Know that things will always work out just fine in the end. Finally, have an open mind. When I visit and being from the states, family/relatives and ppl around me in the PH will move in a much slower pace than I am. Try to get used to it as this is your new home now. If there is anything Filipinos are good is “remedyo” or the “work arounds”, we don’t stress in things big or small. I need to remember that when I’m back in the states😅. Life would be so much more stress free. You might live in the metro but you’re still in the islands. 🤙
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and advice, we are adjusting well and looking forward to taking a "vacation" soon! Salamat po and ingat ’til next time ✌🏼🇵🇭
Especially in Manila, if you have patience, you'll endure the crowded wet market and get your shoes dirty at 9am then you go home with fresh caught live fish at its cheapest. I love 💕 the family spirit and togetherness that many admires on your vlogs. Philippines is perfect for you. Welcome again.
Till you settle down, it will be chaotic. Good luck. I went through that with my dad, and see so much of myself in those kids as you moved to the PH. What made it so much better was once I went to school. FUN!!!
I am just watching this video now 4 months later from the day this video was published. I have watched most of your recent videos and I have seen how well the whole family has adapted to the Phil setting and the Filipino way of life. You have done a good job. I would like to commend the kids more for having been very cool going through the stressful period of adjustment. You have done a good job so far in raising them up. God bless your family and just enjoy every moment of your daily life in the Phil and I strongly think that these experiences will make you all better persons and and will make your family more cohesive. All the best to y’all.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We are very happy living here in PH and we hope to continue sharing more of our life and adventures with all of our viewers. Salamat po and Maligayang Pasko!
Its a bold move to move from US to Phil. Your family deserves some pampering. Services in the phil is way more affordale, massage, spa, salon. Services, and resto located in malls are expensive though.💁♂️ Location loca
Pampering will certainly be on the agenda and in fact I was able to get in a nice spa day for my birthday recently. Stay tuned to upcoming vlogs to see the birthday celebration :)
Aww bunso is so cute, eating a big chunk of beef with spoon, just like Filipinos. But he also could’ve asked for a knife, I always do that and I’m Filipino. Lol there’s no way I’m eating a chunk of meat with spoon and fork. To be fair I lived abroad for 10 years, so the first time I ate chicken at Kenny Roger’s I gave the lady a perplexed look, thinking “how am I gonna eat this without a knife”😂😂
Your kid can be a food vlogger. He knows the details. Better to settler in the countryside, not in mega Manila. In the countryside fresh food and fresh air. There are a lot of foreigners enjoying their life in the province, it’s more laidback. You cannot have everything so quick but you will eventually enjoy the laidback kind of life. It will help you relax mentally and emotionally.

Processes in America are faster than in the Ph. In my case, I try to look at it at the bright side. Sometimes, we need to slow down and chill. I guess it is better than sending my kids to school and having to worry whether my kids can come home alive or not. Saw the news a few days ago where some teenage kids died because they were attacked/stabbed by a knife. The youngsters were just having fun in the river. Saw comments there asking if there are still safe places where their kida can go to.
Way to go, kuya, that’s how you eat a steak or a brisket in the Philippines-you cut with a spoon! 😂 Bunso is like a miniature Jose Rizal. Sorry if you guys have to go through the culture shock. You’ll get through this. Happy birthday 🎂 kuya!!

I can totally relate to you, since each time I come home for a visit more often than not I’ll get sick before I can go back to the US. You’re lucky you have beautiful, smart and resilient children. I’m sure it makes your transition bearable. Take care♥️
I realized being a parent, that kids look at the positive in everything, be it on people, situation or life in general. Its unfortunate, we lose that as we grow older.
You are right! We always use the power of positivity in our household and they've been able to remind me of when I need to stay positive. Salamat and ingat po!
I understand how you felt. You’re new in the country. The Filipino people are quite sympathetic and friendly and at least they speak English. Some might not that perfect but still can communicate. Have a little patience as I read Starlink have a big plan in the Philippines. My case was the opposite. Big adjustment for me. Living in Paris, without any French words, new culture. Luckily I travel to the US twice a year for a family visit. Growing up in the Philippines, then live in the US for a few years before moving to Paris. 3 continents in different culture. Slowly I adjusted, and able to communicate too. Hopefully visiting the Philippines next year. Don’t worry . You’ll soon be adjusted faster as Pinays are welcoming with closer Mexican culture and tradition. A matter of time. Keep positive.

Take care!
Salamat po and ingat 'til next time!

God Bless

For me because I’m going to Philippines these October, first thing you notice the weather humidity and hot as well. Only at the beginning around 1 week or more encounter that situation but day by day those tiredness will be gone once you see the beauty of Philippines Specially Christmas time..
Looking forward to the "ber" months starting soon and the beauty of a filipino Christmas in the Philippines!
Ingat ’til next time ✌🏼🇵🇭

its very understandable to be emotional and stressful at times but its also great that u guys are well aware that there are things u can't control and just accept the circumstances sometimes.

Yes you are correct! We didn't expect it to still be busy after almost 1 year of being open but we were wrong. Salamat and ingat po 🇵🇭✌🏼
Wow! I am impressed with your son. He is articulate like mom.
Thank you so much!
Unfortunately, we never got used to the traffic and Filipino time 😂
Anyways, my advice is to take things slow.
Bottled water is a must ☺️ Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave us your thoughts. Ingat ’til next time ✌🏼🇵🇭
Everything that you mentioned about IKEA, the crowd, lines, feeling like Disneyland, items being out of stock, etc are all common for IKEA at least in the ones I’ve been to here in the states. And these are all established stores, not newly opened like one in the PH. Super jealous tho that we don’t have any beef menu here in the US at our Ikeas👎🏼
All that you did in such a short amount of time, in just two weeks and moving two times is a lot.

😂 spoons for cutting always confused me too but it seems to work just fine for Kuya and my husband too 😉 Salamat po and ingat ‘til next time 🙏🏼🇵🇭✌🏼
Your kid can be a food vlogger.
Thank you for the compliment :) we will look into the province life eventually but we are staying in the city for a little while first.

Saw comments there asking if there are still safe places where their kida can go to.
spam and garlic rice for breakfast is grand especially with a fried egg on top, good luck with your move :)
Kuya's most paborito breakfast.

New subscriber here, nice to watch stay safe and God Bless!
I completely understand! Moved to the US 20 years ago and felt like going back that same month. With God, I survived, and now we’re planning on moving to the Philippines for good, and I’m fearing the change, oddly:). There’s always something that will stress us out, but God is good! He will get you and your family through:). Just keep praying!
