    I have always used the thumb for the first note. Gotta try this and see how it feels!

    Nice! Does it work for 3/4 in tunes like Tennessee Waltz and Amazing Grace?

      Not really. I don't know of a standard equivalent, but I would suggest G-A-Bb, B-D-5th string G. Give it a shot, and let me know how it works! (You can also pull off Bb to A, then open G, pull off E on the low D string, then back to G.) Good luck!!
