Thank you for speaking English. You are courteous and, being aware of your efforts, I think you are a teacher. Thank you for sharing these vital ideas. I appreciate you.
I practice the Shinto way and Zen as best I can here in Ohio on the west side of town years ago there lived a very kind Japanese man who had Torii gate at the entrance to his beautiful garden ⛩️
I am still learning many Japanese philosophies. Many times there are such beautiful revelations such as, "Nature is the way to connect to our higher selves..." And learning that Buddhism and Shinto have co-existed peacefully for over 1500 years is wonderfully reassuring for someone who finds religious zealotry a form of aggression and therefore distasteful. I have much gratitude for this talk and I will seek out more of your wisdom.
I have no real religion, just a nature-based spiritual belief (some of my friends call me "pagan," my Catholic mother called me "heathen"). I moved to Japan and lived there for three years. Both spiritually and mentally, I felt so much more at home there. Is that strange for a foreigner to say? I miss living in Japan. I'd like to move back someday.
Thank you very much for this excellent explanation! 🙏 I am a follower of an esoteric form of Shinto (somewhat in the tradition of Oomoto). For further research into esoteric traditions, the ancient Takenouchi documents are recommended. 🙏 With best wishes
I’m still young and 17 but I have always believed in my heart that their is energy all around us and nature is sacred. I’ve believed in something more but never a bible or a singular god. I’m rlly glad I learned about Shinto and am excited to explore as I think it fits well with my beliefs. Can you practice Shinto if you are not Japanese? Thank you 🙏🏻
Fantastic ❤. I am a follower of Shinto especially I follow Kannagara Shinto shrine of Kissimmee Florida and the grand Tsubaki shrine of North America. I learned much from them and Konkokyo Yokosuka Kyokai Fukadadai Yokosuka, Kanagawa Japan. I'm grateful to them and i thank you for posting this. And to the kami-sama 🙏🙏👏👏🙏❤️
I love how your teeth sparkle like diamonds(emphasis on sparkling quality). Speaks volumes about the quality of diet and overall life style. Western idea of healthy teeth means just white which can bleech off the healthy shiny enamel and results in unhealthy sensitive teeth which age faster.
With respect, why do you prefer not to say "God"? I love learning about Shinto because I love natural life in seasons, animals and plants, each living thing so very beautiful. Japanese wisdom is a wonderful way of thinking and doing.
Japanese people (at least the ones I've talked to about this) feel like the concept of "God" in the west is different to their concept. I still do not fully understand how so.
Very wholesome video, I am impressed how Shinto and Buddhism coexisted without problems when Buddhism was first introduced; It shows how peaceful Shinto is. Thank You.
Didn't they try to outlaw each other and Christianity? I'm pretty sure the different religions were publically executing each other until like the 1950s
thank you! I knew something about it, but your way to explain so simply and comparing Shinto with other religions and philosophy is very friendly and comprehensible...🤩🙏
Thank you very much, the wisdom of Japanese people and their way of living is purposeful, inspiring, and one to learn from. Sincerely thank you for sharing :)

こにちわ!I really want to say thank you for sharing this video on Shinto which I do show my interest on the ancient religion. I will ask you more on Shinto later. Have a very safe day and be very careful on Covid-19 because we have love and faith for Japanese people. どうもありがとうございます。😊
A very nice video! Thank you! 💚 I am going to look at your other videos! Something about the daily simple rituals in Japanese (Shinto) life would be nice - There is no Shinto shrine where I live in Sweden so I build a tiny one at home :)
This was such an eloquent and informative video, thank you so much for posting! Your videos are so beautiful and I'm learning heaps, you're awesome and I hope you have a lovely day :)

Lovely video. I am doing a project on Sister City relationships between Kumamoto and San Antonio. I am trying to understand the role Shintoism plays in Japanese Culture. This was very helpful. Kind regards!
I discovered this channel by searching for the topic Shinto on youtube. I greatly appreciated your clarity in the explanations. I think I'll see the other videos as well. A question: can Shinto also be lived outside Japan? If it is the connection with the things that surround us, a sacred tree, a mountain but also an Ancestor, is it possible to practice Shintoism outside Japan? Is it considered cultural appropriation? Or is it not possible because there are no Shinto Shrine (I do not know if it is correct as I wrote it) where to go for example on certain days? I think of the place where I live, in Italy. Thank you for your attention, also for the beautiful video.
Thank you for watching my videos! Shintoism is in nature on our planet. In nature, we tune into the power of nature, the sacred divine energy. Yes, we can practice Shinto where we are. In Italy, you are surrounded by the beautiful sea, mountains, lakes. I was giving a workshop in Sicily earlier this year. It starts from a daily awareness and practice. I purify my mind, my body,my energy and my environment. I share one of my articles on the magazine! If you like to learn more, please email to office@azumiuchitani.com🌺
Domo arigatogozaimasu! I appreciate your detailed translation and explanation. I like the concept of purification, cleaning ritual. Do you think it originated from when Izanagi-no-kami returned from the underworld and bathe in the river? Also would you consider "kami" more of a spirit or god? Thanks Azumi 🙇
I believe the concept of kami-sama as actually more complex and in fact transcends the concepts of spirit and god. It feels to me to be an honorific of something or someone.
Thank you for speaking English. You are courteous and, being aware of your efforts, I think you are a teacher. Thank you for sharing these vital ideas. I appreciate you.
