This is an acoustic guitar instructional video on how to play Fishin' In The Dark by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. This one is in drop D tunning and a great tune to add to your guitar repertoire.
I bought a guitar 2 months ago, and I haven't been able to put the guitar down almost ever. Now when I tell people I have only been playing for 2 years of my entire life they are all in disbelief, even those who have been playing for years. I've seen many tutorials for different songs by many people, and I can honestly say, of the hundreds of lessons from different people, in person and on you tube, this is my absolute favorite tutorial... THANKS FOR MAKING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I owe you one!!!!!!!!!
Wow, STOP HERE !!! I viewed 3 others teaching same song. Nobody made it sound so good or FUN, which is important. We all entertain, but I'm sure you get paid for it. The perfect approach . Thank You.
Very well done. My five year old daughter is performing this with her class and this video really helped me to be able to back them up. I thank you.
When through a bunch of how to play's on this song, and yours is the best one! Good stuff!
Thank you! I'm a beginning guitar play. I play trombone, piccolo/flute, bassoon and piano. Always had the desire to play a "string instrument". Watching instead of expensive lessons is much more my style.
Well this was ridiculously awesome. I say ridiculous, because I'm use to thing being astronomically complicated, but this guy here... awesome for learning.
Absolutely fantastic lesson
I love how you play the song first before you show how its done!!!!!! I wish everyone would do this.......great job Sir!!!
Amazing
Awesome lesson, exactly what I was looking for.
WOW! What a voice!
Amazing version. Excellent demonstration. I have some work to do now.
Thanks Vince. Old favorite of mine. Lesson was really helpful.
You can play that with a freakin hockey stick! Love it. I like the way you play it first and then explain the parts. Subscribed!
Wow like this version
great lesson, from one hockey hoser to another. you have some serious talent. don't listen to the haters of your teaching ability.
Using your channel a lot, and learning lots. Thanks, you do a fantastic job making guitar fun, and easy.
Wow thanks so very much..I've always wanted to play this song...didn't know it was that easy...Sweet!!
Very good! A better perspective of the strings with the camera angle, so that each string/fret is shown, would be 100% awesome! A very fun song, and you have a great voice for it ,too ! Thanks for the video !
you should use or try out a different g chord when you hit that note. try the one where your ring an pinky are on the 5th and 6th string on the 5th fret an bar the 1st 2nd on the third fret an you can do a little run down with that pull off you got. it sounds really good. good lesson though I just learned this song an I caught on so fast.
i dont play guitar but this is awesome. i think i want to learn now (or banjo)
this is incredible...I've been watching different ones all afternoon, and your fantastic..your voice is wonderful

Appreciate the comment, and glad you like the tunes.
Thanks.
Very nice! Thank you. You are a good teacher. Can you make a video for "Ripplin' Waters"? Or tell me the chord progressions?

Dude...thanks
Man thank you
Thank you so much !!!!! Could you please send the licks ? It would help me a lot. I'd be grateful for that.
Good video man. You do any Larry Stewart (Restless Heart)? I hear a lot of similarities in your vocals.
i cant seem to get that beginning grove going on i got the finger going but its hard to see what string you are hitting and when up stoke/down strokes
Thanks for the great comment.... keep at it and just imagine how good you will be after it actually two years ;)
Offense, no way... that guy rocks! lol Thanks for the comment ;)
I'm really confused on how to do the up and down strokes. It's really hard to see how your doing it. Can someone clarify it for me
You shouldn't need to be showed how to strum. Can't you hear it? Can't you feel it? You have to get a combination of up and down strumming. On all songs. Strumming is just as important as where to put your finger on the frets. If not more important.
Thanks, and btw its a Gibson J45
yes he kinda does lol, great video man
I am having trouble on when to add the open D in the first verse of the song in the very beginning! Please Help!
I was, ok let's learn how, even though I don't play guitar, then you started signing unexpectedly. Daamn, you're good.
LoL@ you could play this song with a hockey stick haha love this guy already
Instant Subscribe!!!!!
the picking pattern is really confusing its more then just down strokes and 2 on the A string with that open d as well
can you send me the tab that you used for this song
could you send me a tab for this please?
would also pay for the tab !!!!!
idk how you play that D like that man, are you in full open D tuning because I used a tuner and mine sounds like a dog farting DADF#AD
Yeah got it sorted :P thanks for the comment anyway mate :)
Norm!!!
thats what i thought!
I meant only 2 months
Play it with a hockey stick! :)
wow a cool way to play the song but you ain't cut out for teachin mang
Great lesson, although I must be retarded, because I've repeated the very beginning and still don't have the grove down.
