    I really like that you play some relaxing piano jazz in the background. That really goes well with the mood. Good vid. Philodendrons have moved up to number two on my top five genera. Anthurian's is definitely number one. I received my Philodendron Esmeraldense today, and it is ten times nicer than I thought it was going to be. That is one of my top dream plants, and I finally have it. I also received a Dieffenbachia Amy today. Both plants are perfectly healthy and looking great after shipping. Nice day to watch plant vids...

    Those foam things are awful! I've had plants get strangled by them before and confused the heck out of me as to why they're failing until I find the foam. Once the foam is off they flourish.

      I keep it around 50%....maybe it's your soil? I use tropical mix, orchid bark (which has perlite and charcoal in it) as my soil for philodendrons.
      A nice light mix is good for air flow and root health.

    Hi Jeff. I don't have Splendid but the other 2 are my recent purchased plants. I repoted my Lynette and I noticed that she had spider mites. It probably came with it, I normally don't have them. I treated her and she is fine but I didn't pay attention for those seed pods. I'm really thankful for your video today and I will re pot her and do the same what you did. Thank you again for sharing your great care of plants.

    I got a monstera peru from Steve's Leaves a couple months ago, when I received it I saw that it was planted in sphagnum moss. When I took it out of the little grow pot the roots had just encased the moss inside of them. Like looking at it all I can see is roots with touches of moss poking out here and there. I didn't want to destroy the roots by trying to untangle them because they've taken the shape of the pot. It really needs a bigger pot though, any suggestions?

    • @EverythingPlants
      @EverythingPlants  2 года назад +1

      Hey Cara. I would just soak it in room temp water and leave it for a bit. Then try and untangle the mess haha I also like to use a pencil to pick away slowly as I find this doesn't damage the roots as much as fingers.

    You often make me giggle, Jeff, the pencil guy. But seriously, very informative. (wishing you tube had spell check ...anyway) I appreciate how you had a close up of what it sphagnum moss vs roots. Also, who knew!? Reusing the moss? Not everyone would think of that, but so incredibly earth friendly since it is not easily (or at all?) renewable. So glad that you shared that, it was an important things for all to learn and be aware of. Have no fear, mother in laws will rarely, if ever give the son in laws approval. You scored big!

    Loved the video so informative and relaxing 👍💚I’m thinking about ordering some orchid pots. I like being able to see what’s going on and not everyone likes terracotta. I’m using spagnum as a top dressing for some of my ferns. I like the way it looks and it is easily pushed aside to check soil moisture. I’m thinking about trying it on string of turtles as a top dressing…I have one growing in it and it’s loving the moss! I can’t wait to see roots growing on your planks…. If you don’t boil it, you may be able to get it to grow fresh moss! So if you’d like your own supply someday (it’s slow), you can put it in a container and keep it moist in a well lit area and you’ll see it resprout if there’s any life in it.
