    I just changed mine in a 2002 Suburban Z71. I did not remove the torsion bar like here. Once the ball joint bolt was clear of the hub assy, the control arm tilts down and has no pressure from the torsion bar, so the control arm is then wiggled out of the frame and slid off the torsion bar. You do need to back off the torsion adj bolts. But that is all. BTW, I did this out in the parking lot at my apartment, and I'm 64 years old. Also means just hand tools. The drive axel needs to be removed on 4x4s. If I can do it here, you can manage it in your garage.

    hello there - i had the same set up on a cadillac 06 escalade esv but i just took out the tension out on the 18 mm bolt attached to tension bar/ key way (mark it with paint for adjustment) and disconnected the lower control arm fasyeners then by separating it from frame and then i slided forward - and it came out nicely 👌
    thanks for the video 🎥

    You do not need to remove the torsion bar, however, i did have to remove the upper control arm ball joint as well as the tie rod to enable the lower ball joint to come out easily.

    Did you guys change the bolt length on the sway bar links you sell? I just installed your 10 piece steering and suspension kit on my 04 2wd tahoe and I maybe have 1/4-3/8” of thread sticking out where in this video you have 1”+ did I not tighten mine enough maybe? I torqued them down but it is really old so maybe not calibrated correctly?

    *Can you put Anti Seize on the Torsion Bars when it slides into the Key hole and Lower Control arm Hole?*

    • @86Chevymontecarlo
      @86Chevymontecarlo 2 года назад

      I did when I changed my torsion bars about 4 years ago. I placed a bit of anti-seize on the ends to make future removal easier. A little dab on the corners won't hurt.

  • @casheighty8

    Worse part of this job is torsion bar removal. A hammer drill rental from Home Depot does the trick but without the truck in the air the front end will drag on the ground if you don’t finish the job.

  • @edwardbreault407
    @edwardbreault407 2 года назад

    Typical, the most difficult part of the job is dealing with that torsion bar, living in New England I just hate dealing with them.

    • @victorgutierrez5826

      you dong have to dealing with that Part ....just change the lower arm bushing and change the upper bar with all the Kit and I think you will be ok

    There's no reason to mark \ put the axel back in the same place. it is where it is. It would be good if you cleaned up and painted the torsion bar and surrounding areas.
    That drives me crazy to leave everything rusty and nasty. Also, if you pull the axel out too far, the inner bearing will come outta place.
    Then you have to pull the rubber boot back to aline the inner bearings. Tiz a bitcha nasty job.
