  • Growing up, quarterback Cam Newton ate, slept and breathed football as a kid, from taking laxatives to sleeping with cleats on. He was the third NFL player in his family, his father Cecil Newton Sr. was a safety for the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills, and his brother Cecil played center for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Cam recounts his early dedication to the game, from taking laxatives to make weight, to sleeping in his cleats so he would be game-ready. Plus, Newton reflects on his childhood as a jokester, and the unique punishment his father, a pastor, dealt out when his son would get in trouble.

He sounds like a really down-to-earth guy. This video and the other changed my mind about him. I wish him well.

I thank God every day for allowing me to share this planet with Cam Newton. He has given me hope for tomorrow's youth. He is what they need--a contemporary role model who has truly earned his way and continues to do so by fighting hate with increased motivation to be the best he can be. Cam is a gentle warrior but a warrior nonetheless.

Graham, I love your interviewing technique. You really allow the audience to get to know the guest--in this case, Cam--in his own words. Also, you research the human interest part of the person. Great show! When I get bored during the off season, I listen to your interviews with Cam and re-watch his highlights, especially the collegiate games: AU. I am such a Cam Newton fan. Cam was indeed chosen to play the game of football and to bring whatever joy he can to those who need it.

This guy cam, in my opinion he is the most underrated and least talked about talent in the league, he is one of the very best QB in the nfl today.

I love this format. It seems like an equivalent of "Inside the Actor's Studio" when it comes to research and engagement with the guest. Would like to hear you ask them the 10 questions Lipton asks them.
