A video exploring how jayfeather’s powers make him sensitive to other cat’s emotions and how he distances himself and fixates on his work in saving/protecting cats as 1. a med cat 2. one of the Three, and how he gives himself little time to connect with others (even when holly returns he’s too focused on the battle against the dark forest looming near…)
There’s more examples past oots series (e.g. leafpool/briarlight’s deaths) but im not as familiar with the later series rip (and also i dont think i could fit em all into this video lol)
Sucks abt erin hunter’s ableist writing with jay being unwillingly pushed into the med cat role but i do think its v interesting how he ended up growing into it and becomin rlly dedicated to caring for others…
Process of makin this video had so many hiccups cause in the middle of it I switched from an old windows computer to a new windows computer, which meant i had to move all my files And i had to use new up-to-date premiere and photoshop, and premiere was NOT cooperating so i tried Da vinci resolve but i ultimately went back to premiere when it started working again and then it STOPPED WORKING again and i just. Weird flip flopping so most of this amv is edited in premiere but a fair chunk of lil bits were done in resolve +1 shot in after effects (First time usin 3d camera woogle) and then squished back in a final comp in premiere fuckin WILD ride im so glad its over FJKDSLH /lh

0:00 Holly, lion, and jay become apprentices to their new mentors leafpool, ashfur, and brightheart.
0:05 Squirrelflight and brambleclaw express their pride to their kits holly lion and jay, as unknown to them leafpool looks at her kits with sadness at having had to give them up secretly
0:08 Jaypaw gets increasingly annoyed with brightheart’s constant warnings about things that might trip him, as he knows can get around just fine without sight. She warns him about a rock, a stick (which he ends up tripping on because she startles him with her shout), and a tree.
0:13 Jay finally snaps and turns and snarls at brightheart to stop treating him like he’s helpless. She’s hurt by his words.
0:15 Jay's powers allow him to sense her emotions as if they are his own (represented by brightheart’s colour bleeding into him), and he falters. He sighs and tells her more gently that he doesn’t need her constantly hovering over him.
0:22 As Jaypaw stalks off, he bumps right into someone he didn’t notice was there. He’s about to snap at them too before he realizes he can /see/ them. (this is kinda a transition into the scene in the books wehn jaypaw went to share dreams alone at the moonpool for the first time, looking for answers about his destiny)
0:27 He has bumped into spottedleaf, and soon yellowfang appears as well. Before he knows it, the whole of starclan is materializing around him, telling him his destiny is to become a med cat, not a warrior. Jaypaw is devastated.
0:31 Jaypaw wakes at the moonpool. He struggles with his feelings of disbelief and grief before steeling himself to numbly accept his med cat role and return to camp.
0:37 Jay walks through the camp, feeling increasingly worse with each cat he passes. He passes by his former mentor brightheart and senses how devastated she is at losing her first apprentice, then passes by hollypaw with her new warrior mentor + lionpaw with his mentor going out to train together and senses their excitement. He walks into the medicine den and stops at his new nest, miserable, and goes to sleep (leaf looks at him worriedly).
0:45 Jay is annoyed and tired of his med cat duties/training. Leafpool gets irritated with him when he seems disinterested with learning herbs.
0:48 Jaypaw is working in the med den and thinks he senses leafpool returning and greets her, only to hear his mother’s confused voice. He’s startled at his mix-up and turns to confirm that it’s squirrelflight’s scent not leafpool’s, who is only just arriving. Strange that leaf and squirrel are the only cats he sometimes mixes up….
0:53 Jay walks in firestar’s dreams and learns about the prophecy skywatcher told him about the power of three. Jay is delighted at having such a great destiny
0:59 Knowing about the prophecy only makes his med cat duties all the more mundane and tiresome: he listens with irritation to mousefur and longtail as he searches for ticks, and as berrynose makes a big fuss about a thorn in his pad.
1:02 Poppypaw(frost) is severely ill during an outbreak of greencough. Jay fears for her life, and becomes intent on making sure she survives long enough for leafpool to return with catmint (it’s not pictured in the video but the full book scene is jay goes to starclan to make sure poppy doesn’t join them). Red poppy symbolizes poppy’s dire situation.
1:04 Jay desperately tries to save lionpaw and breezepaw(pelt) who are buried under a badger den that collapsed on them. nightcloud and crowfeather shocked and racing over to help behind him. Jay’s med cat duties are taking on more importance in his life… Red dirt symbolizes lion and breeze’s dire situation.
1:06 Jay finds the stick; Rock appears behind him as jay suddenly finds himself in the tunnels of the ancient past, seeing Fallen Leaves flee from the flood that kills him, leaving his spirit stranded alone in the tunnels. Jay feels his fear and loneliness, and forces himself to leave.
1:10 The scene transitions into Jay, holly, lion, heatherpaw, breezepaw, and the 3 windclan kits they’re rescuing in the present day, struggling in the flooded tunnels. Red flood water symbolizes their dire situation.
1:12 Jay walks up to his family, squirrel, bramble, lion, and holly. His mood improves as he settles down beside them, sensing their love and happiness, before a lightning strike interrupts the contented family
1:17 Fire scene! Squirrel tells ashfur that jay holly and lion are not her kits. Ashfur is thrilled to hear this, and changes his plans of killing her kits to instead reveal this secret. Jay, holly, and lion are in shock and devastated.
1:25 Ashfur is found dead in the river on the way to the gathering. Jay is surrounded by his shocked and grieving clanmates, completely numb to their feelings as he holds the knowledge of what must have motivated Ashfur’s killer.
1:32 Jay and his sibling are cold towards squirrel, and the three are also not as close as they were to each other before either.
1:36 Jay has a dream where Yellowfang comes to him with a crow’s feather. He now knows Crowfeather from windclan is his father, and that Leafpool is his mother.
1:39 Leaf and squirrel try to reconcile with the three as everyone confronts the revealed truth, but Holly is completely unwilling.
1:42 Unable to live with the lies and how many rules of the code her birth broke, Holly reveals the truth to every cat and clan at the gathering. Jay watches her in stunned horror.
1:45 Jay is looking for Holly after the gathering, and he finds her in the medicine den. When she hears him approaching, she bristles and races past him, fleeing the den. He calls after her in confusion.
1:47 (tw:mention of suicidal behaviour) Jay’s about to follow her when he senses something sinister in the den. He finds deathberries on the floor. Jay stands motionless as slow realization dawns on him, dread building at the implications of finding Holly alone in the den with deathberries. (Ya’ll i think about this…. U ever think that the closest guess he would’ve had was that holly tried to use them herself :((( why would his first assumption be she tried to murder leaf u know)
1:56 Jay turns to race after Holly, calling her name, terrified.
1:58 Leaf is now working as a warrior, and Jay is the only med cat. Jay senses her nearby and turns away bitterly. Leaf shys away, hurt.
1:59 The third cat of the po3 prophecy turns out to not be Holly, but Dovewing (third star now has Dovewing’s light green eye colour)
2:00 Jayfeather places the stick against a stone. His anger at learning that Rock knew the truth about his birth the whole time, as well as general frustration for how his life has turned out and not knowing what the prophecy entails leads him to break the stick.
2:04 Transition scene; Jay senses a distraught, now pregnant poppyfrost heading to the moonpool to try and speak with her dead sister Honeyfern. He also senses breezepelt nearby, following her
2:05 Jayfeather rushes to defend Poppyfrost as Breezepelt threatens both of them, and happily attacks Jay, intent on killing him as he thinks he should’ve never been born, blaming him as part of his father Crowfeather’s neglectful behaviour. Honeyfern appears to fight on Jayfeather’s side, and Brokenstar appears to fight on Breezepelt’s. Jay senses the intense emotions of everyone as he is tackled by Breeze
2:06 Transition scene, Jay recovers from his fight with Breezepelt; He senses Flametail’s fear as he falls through the ice and leaps in to rescue him.
2:09 Rock appears next to him, telling Jay it’s not his time to die and to leave Flametail. Jay cries out helplessly to Flametail as Rock pulls him back to the surface, leaving flame to drown.
2:12 Briarlight rests with Jay in the med den, her back broken but otherwise healthy thanks to him. Jay senses that she’s been worried about how stressed and unhappy he seems lately, and he tells her that he’s fine.
2:13 Jay says the same to Lionblaze and Dovewing, who he can sense are similarly concerned. He turns and runs off, into the dream world, where he and the other clan’s med cats reunites Starclan (Starclan had been separating into 4 distinct clans out of fear of not knowing who they could trust with the Dark forest attack approaching). Jay also brings a dreaming Firestar with him, the fourth cat of the new po3 prophecy.
2:17 Jay feels overwhelmed but pushes down his fear for every cat in starclan and the 4 clans, and the scene transitions as he leads the 4 clans and Starclan, with Dovewing and Lionblaze beside him, into battle against the Dark Forest and their trainees.
2:19 Jay is in the medicine den with Leafpool as they tend to an injured clan cat’s wounds, the battle raging on behind them.
2:20 Jay senses a wave of pain and blood, and he rushes out of the den in a panic, startling Leafpool.
2:23 Ivypool, Dovewing, Lionblaze, and Brambleclaw are crowded around the injured cat
2:24 Jay pushes past Firestar, Fallen leaves, Crowfeather, and Squirrelflight as Leafpool catches up around them, stopping by the severely injured Hollyleaf.
2:26 Jay is overwhelmed with the grief and fear of every cat around him as he watches his sister die, unable to save her for the second time.
2:33 Leafpool and Jayfeather are sitting by Holly’s grave. Without saying anything jay rests his tail against Leaf’s, to her surprise. They give each other silent comfort as they grieve.

At 1:47, in the books it did say that Hollyleaf did try to force Leafpool to eat them, but leaf said something along the lines of: "Which would make me suffer more, dieing a quick death, or living knowing what I did?" Idrk what she exactly said.
But anyways, it's a beautiful map and I love the colors and the way you put the emotions into one video!
Can’t express how glad I am to see people finally noticing jayfeather’s pain. People think he’s just a grumpy good for nothing character, when he is actually super complex and has been through so much. He had to take in everyone’s emotions, never got to achieve his dreams of becoming a warrior, and when he finally found love, in half moon, he was told to forget and move on like he doesn’t have feelings. He literally had to bottle up every emotion he’s ever felt for the sake of keeping his clan safe, and it’s genuinely heartbreaking.
This is why he is my favorite, he always so brave and puts others before himself. He deserves to be allowed to be straight to the point when ever he wants, he is the best character😌
I never enjoyed the Power of Three but Jayfeather’s parts in the books were the only ones I found enjoyable because his struggles were heartbreaking and relatable. He’s easily my favorite one out of the main cast in that arc.

I can't really agree with you here at the beginning- Jayfeather has always been a fan favorite ever since his debut in the sight. He's probably one of the most iconic characters in the entire series, possibly only being beaten by firestar. But it's still great to see an amv about jayfeather!
@@applefan4322 Yep, he’s not underrated, the community has always liked him. It’s just that most people like just because he’s some “grumpy uwu baby”. Not that there’s anything wrong with that of course, I personally like his snarky personality too, but it’s just that most people don’t even realise he has a reason to be grumpy. He’s been through a LOT, and not many people see that tbh, even the ones who like him! But obviously maybe that’s just because I’m not engaging with enough fans, but so far I really haven’t seen a lot of people acknowledge his hardships,, but that could just be me :>
One little detail that I feel doesn't get talked about in this enough is that whenever water shows up, it's red, showing visually that Jayfeather has a fear of water. In this the color red, in Peppermint's words is symbolizing 'injury/illness/anything that indicates jay needs to care for/save someone' in this case it would him be feeling like he needs to save himself at any given time when water is around because of his fear. Which, for me, made when he dived into the water to save Flametail all the more impactful.
And then he got framed for murder ): I know Dawnpelt was grieving, but that was just plain stupid.

Watching this after becoming an adult, makes me realize how much jayfeathers story hurts.
He's constantly going and going. While Lionblaze feels the weight of taking on the huge battle, Hollyleaf doesn't know where she belongs, and dovewing has so much to know, Jayfeather has to take on everyones feelings. Hes someone who doesnt want to be worried about, but his blindness instills it. He's tired, and the only comfort he gets is with family. And its all stripped away. Even if he chose to accept it right away, everyone else was catatonic. And when he sees Hollyleaf, it comes back for a brief second, despite that she's dying.
Hes never been okay, except when he was younger. He tells people he is so he can trick himself that he is. So he can focus on others instead of himself.
This comment is making me realize that his work ethic and effort to take care of others reminds me a LOT of Princess Carolyn from Bojack.

Also, does anyone remember when he literally brought poppyfrost back from death? That scene along with the later honeyfern brezepelt thing was really touching :3

I do like that when he walks by leafpool, there's nothing indicating that he's reading her emotion(s) because for most of the 3rd arc he could never really pry into her mind

While I was reading the first book, Jaypaw annoyed me at first, but seeing his struggles and exactly WHY he was so grumpy made me turn my opinion around. When he got the thanks he deserved at the Daylight Gathering, I was so happy. It was so sad when he didn't believe they were genuine though. Jayfeather's great, this AMV is well done and the concept of it is absolutely AMAZING.
I mean… think about it. Being blind as a human is hard as it is. Imagine being blind as a cat, a feral cat living in the forest at that. With massive expectations and judgement because of your lineage: being related to Firestar, finding out Leafpool is your mother but had to give you and your siblings to her sister, your aunt, because she had a relationship with a cat from another clan who wouldn’t accept you until a battle with a bunch of literal hell cats. Then losing the only sight you had by walking through dreams only after heaven got what they wanted from you. By nature, cats are tad more independent than dogs (mine didn’t get the memo lol but he’s a purebred Maine Coon, so it is in their breed description to be human oriented lol) so by being blind, Jayfeather can’t live by his own genetic nature. And he has an entire clan of cats relying on him on top of it all as their head medicine cat. He has Alderheart, true, but he’s still the more experienced “physician” at the end of the day. Of course they’ll prefer Jayfeather. And to top it all off, every true meaningful relationship he’s ever had… resulted in death. He’s had a horrible life.

From losing his opportunity to become a warrior, being different from other warriors just because he is blind, from his life becoming a lie, losing his sister and finding out that she nearly committed suicide, having a broken family and experiencing trauma in the fire and knowing that leafpool is his mother and crowfeather is his father and unable to have half-moon as his mate and losing everyone he cared about.
He really is the most broken cat in warriors.

No one talking about how cutely Brackenfur is looking at Hollypaw when she's apprenticed 🥺 Brackenfur was such a kind and gentle boy, and a good mentor to Tawnypelt (while she was in ThunderClan) and Hollyleaf. I hope he goes to StarClan peacefully when it's his time ❤️
Jayfeather was Brightheart's only apprentice, which is kind of sad so being he never finished his training. But brightheart trained actually all of the apprentices by teaching them how to fight if their eye was injured during battle.
I actually love this so much, not only becausw I love Jayfeather but because you arent just portraying him as some grumply angsty teen or whateber i LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

I like how, at the end, the emotion Jayfeather feels is entirely his own.
Jayfeather has always been something special to me. For a long time I could not understand why. After all, there were many other beautiful characters who were more sociable, more friendly. But I simply respected cats like Thrushpelt or Alderheart for their kindness and selflessness, and I really loved Jayfeather. Later I understood. And after watching this video, I again established myself in my love. The fact is that Jayfeather is real. He is offended, angry, sad, grows as a person. It is very well written. In his image there is no unnatural ability to instantly solve his problems, his feelings do not disappear as if by magic.
I am very glad that there are those who, like me, love Jay, see what path he has come through.

I JUST REALIZED, IT WAS YELLOWFANG WHO TOLD JAY WHO THEIR FATHER WAS, and I realize why. She grew up with Raggedstar, and it pained her to see him grow up without a father, and she even went as far as to find Hal for Raggedstar, she knows how hard it is for Jay to not know their real father and felt horrible for keeping it from them.
I love how at the end where Leaf and Jay are by Holly's grave and he puts his tail over Leaf's instead of all her colour flooding into him as it does for her and other cats earlier on he can feel her emotion but it dosen't conpletely swallow him and he isn't overwhelmed so it's all he feels in the moment. The watercolour was a beautiful touch that you were able to convey perfectly. This was really different from other PMVs of Jayfeather that there are where it really touches into why he's such a grumpy pants but is also quite serrious. Thanks for being so amazing!
jayfeather is genuinely one of my favorite characters in the series, and seeing this take on his story throughout po3+oots is SOO COOL!! amazing work!!

yes. I'm so glad someone has managed to put together the mental disaster that is Jayfeather's, well, existence. He's my favorite character because he feels so ridiculously relatable and he's genuinely just really really cool, complex, and heartbreaking to the point where it's like, yeah bro me too. This is beautiful broski great job!
God, I feel like this is SUCH a perfect view into how Jayfeather views the world. The lack of fire in the fire scene really, REALLY captured- holy shit it's different for him. Everything still happened to him and affected him, but it's different and it's done SO well. The colors also bring me a LOT of joy- obviously not remotely the same thing but having synesthesia goes a LOT into my own art, so it's really nice seeing things that aren't purely blocked-out colors and shading and lighting as much as I love all of those things! Your animation really doesn't miss :D
The symbolism in this is absolutely incredible and I LOVE love love how well this PMV captures Jayfeather, his life, and his emotions- there's a lot of scenes included here I think a lot of Jayfeather content ignores in favor of focusing exclusively on the prophecy stuff or his family drama, it was great to see the early scenes with Brightheart and his ultimatum from StarClan about being a medicine cat, his relationship with Poppyfrost and having saved her twice, Breeze and Lion in the cave-in, and the three rescuing the kits in the tunnels! There's so much care and love put into it and you always do great with capturing emotional expressions, so this whole PMV really just feels like a fantastic distillation of Jayfeather and what I like about him as a character, and makes you feel for him a lot. Poor guy just kept getting the short end of the stick (no pun intended) in life.

incredible work as always… i was especially moved by your interpretation of jay finding the deathberries and you thinking through the assumption he would likely draw from that (and how you showed his resulting desperation- also how this desperation flowed seamlessly into the impetus for his subsequent attempts to save flame + fight so tirelessly in the battle, after recognizing the ‘red’ his sister was in too late) ALSO (i’m backpedallin) the earlier detail of him mistaking squilf for leaf was SO well done - honestly the whole vid was so well composed and boarded the pinned comment is hardly needed to get a very good idea of all that’s going on. which is no easy feat given the complex nature of the story and characters it portrays espECIALLY especially w the limited (and GORGEOUS) colour palette + art style… ik this comment is a bit of a ramble but GOD ur amvs are always such bangers they literally never miss and i cannot WAIT to see what u do next

I LOVE THIS SO MUUUCH THE WATERCOLOR AESTHETIC IS PERFECT. I'm a little late to the party in reading the power of three, I'm on the second to last book of the arch and you perfectly represented how I imagined jaypaw/feather going through all of his struggles and feelings, I don't see it shown in videos often and so this is so awesome!!! It's especially refreshing to see his more sensitive side and how much he genuinely does care about his siblings despite his attitude and frustration. Seriously this is fantastic work!!

this side of jayfeathers powers is so rarely explored in a visual sense, and you were so extremely creative with the spin you put on it! I love the choice of scenes you decided to depict, the timing and direction between the slower and faster shots really makes the emotions impactful. in particular the buildup with the deathberries scene and his realization with it really gets to me- delighted to see another fantastic AMV from you!!
Jayfeather is such a complicted and interesting character, also very relatable, and I'm glad someone finally didn't make him look like the "just grumpy and a jerk for no reason" kind of character.
Jayfeather is one of my favorite characters, I really love his way of expressing himself in the face of adversity, however, I believe that his life must be very hard, not so much in his childhood, since he differed in strength from him and his brothers , it was not so noticeable at the beginning, however, the more he grew up, the more he realized the reality, I love this character, but it saddens me that he has to go through that
Jayfeather had always been my favourite for the pure fact he had to deal with so much, but this idea of the colours spreading to show how he id constantly feeling everyone else’s anguish intensifies his struggles so much !! Poor jay baby

i never see people go into this specific part of jayfeather's story, about how even when he can feel what everyone else is feeling he still refuses to connect with other and throws himself into his work, because he thinks thats all hes worth... not to mention your attention to details in this?? the scene where he mixes up leaf and squirrel and sniffs to make sure he didn't mess up?? i love that so much omg.. this is beautiful youre so crazy talented!!

I think one reason why Jayfeather was so harsh on Dovewing and Lionblaze in omen of the stars is because a lot of times what he wanted was denied and he was made to obey his destiny, which has led him to believe that it was necessary to make their entire lives and concerns about the clan. Perhaps part of the reason he was mean to Dovewing and Lionblaze was because of anger, or even jealousy. The mindset in this case would be like, “I was denied everything I ever wanted for the sake of the prophecy, so you must do the same, otherwise what was the point of my suffering?” Also, multiple times ancient starry cats just came to him and went “nah, you gotta do this” like when he was told to become a medicine cat by StarClan or when Rock made him let go of Flametail, leading to him being blamed for it. He also had to leave Half Moon, his only chance at love, for the sake of the clans. As Leafpool said in Squirrelflight’s Hope, I think the bitterness and anger for everything he had to do has hollowed out part of his heart towards other cats. Not justifying what the times Jayfeather might have gone too far in his demeanor to his clan mates, but this makes him so interesting especially as a protagonist. If the story had gone the right way or if he had been tipped off just a little he could’ve ended up as a villain.
The music is perfect to describe Jayfeather! He had a harsh and difficult life and although he has a sassy personality his heart was always warm and full of compassion. He's one of my favorite characters in warrior cats and I'm so glad you made a video of him.🙂
I absolutely love the details with the fire scene, with the fire only being reflected in Jayfeather’s eyes. It makes sense, as he can feel the heat and knows it’s there, but is unable to see it, hence the background around him staying gray
I love, love love this AMV. The way it’s one thing after another just shows that he never was able to catch a break, and when he did with his family, he found out it was all a lie. Jay feather Is a outstanding character, and I think you really did him justice with this.

I have a theory that may explain Jayfeather's strange and somewhat inconsistent abilities. I believe he is what I'll call a phantasiopath--a very specific type of mind reader. In other words, he doesn't just read thoughts or feel other's feelings, he experiences what other people are currently thinking about. So he can feel their current emotions, read their current thoughts, and because dreams are entirely in a person's brain, he can see their dreams as they happen. In one case, he was able to experience someone's memory because they were actively recalling it, and thus experiencing it over again in the forefront of their mind. And when he traveled back in time, he was just experiencing the memories of the ghosts that were tied to the stick.
The only thing that doesn't match up is why he's able to influence people's dreams. It makes sense that he could interact with the ancient world, because as far as anyone knows, what he did is what Jay's Wing actually did, and Jayfeather and Jay's Wing are technically the same person. So it's not like he was changing history. But to be able to interact with, and be seen in, a dream must be a separate power. Probably the same thing that allowed him to intentionally show Cinderheart specific things in her dream.
1:00 I really like this part as apprentices caring for elders isn't really shown as an animaton or almost at all for that matter! It's really heartwarming to see videos that show Jaypaws life through how one of his powers was to read other cats emotions and feelings, absolutely adore this work of yours. Keep going!

Y'know. I never really understood Jayfeather as a character until now. I knew he was always a grump, and that was because he was blind and having everyone try and take care of him.
But- as a character making perceptive, it makes so much more sense to make someone who can feel others feelings, to be more neutral/negative normally, so that all these emotions can shine through.
Additionally, I really enjoyed seeing all the scenes where I didn't even realize his power was being used, Jay frantically digging at the fallen earth to save someone, refusing to give up diving down to save Flametail- it just makes sense why.
I always didn't like him because I did not understand why he was so mean all the time, or why he had "random" mood swings.
So, thank you for coearing all this up! And giving me greater appreciation and understanding of a series I love!
(Also tbf, I read Power of Three when I was 12, so may have not picked up on everything)

The amount of detail in these video is incredible! So many little details are picked out and put into these animations. Like how Briarlight was concerned for Jayfeather. What really caught me of guard is Jayfeathers POV of Hollyleaf leaving the medicine den with deathberries; It’s a very interesting viewpoint.

The first time I read po3 in middleschool, I thought Jay's level of empathy was so relatable that I felt everyone who said it was his *magical* superpower was "just really dense about other people's emotions or something" hahaha! Even if I figured out in later re-reads that there were scenes involving literal mind-reading, that's still a super powerful impression for him to give

If Briarlight's death was here I would have died of sadnesss. But I seriously love every one of peppermint-moss's warrior cats AMVs. I had avoided this one for no reason until today, and I honestly really regret that, because first this revealed a nostaligic song I didnt know the name of, and I now keep putting it on loop alongside the Sin Triangle Hollyleaf AMV, and also TOEWGMO the Bluestar PMV, and obviously alongside She Wants Me To Be Loved. But the (at 0:15) 'But it's alright, and I'm okay. I won't need your help anyway' is AMAZINGGG and I love Jay's facee. And also the (at 1:24) 'But its crucial to blot out any signs that I might have feelings.' Just fits Jay so well I think, and his face is just perfect

this is such a cool animation and i love the colors and effects so much. i really like the choice of cats being colored their eye-color. it is probably a product of the writers' ableism or it is a purposeful choice of how to characterize jayfeather, but one of first things he does when interacting with another cat is assume that they have no idea who he is or what he's feeling, and that he is entirely different from everyone. sight really does make him feel alien from others, and it's what he first notices as a difference between him and others.
