Music recommendation: Pottsfield C.M. and the other music played in Pottsfield is based off of sacred harp singing! It's a type of choral music that came from New England, but moved down to the South in the early 1800s. That's why the next three songs after Pottsfield C.M. sound super similar. If you like the music that's played during the second episode, you'll absolutely LOVE sacred harp singing.
AND ANOTHER THING: The C.M. in Pottsfield C.M. stands for Common Meter. Abbreviations like this were very common in the olden days and told the singers the rhythm and meter of the song! This was used a lot by Sacred Harp singers! Common Meter songs go by an 8-6-8-6 pattern, which means the first line of the song has 8 syllables, the second line has 6, and so on.
It’s beautiful and very unique. I found some old recordings from the early 1900s of some of my great aunts singing in that style in Appalachia. Gave me major chills when I listened to them for the first time.
This is underrated. I deeply respect you for an amazing taste in music and for acknowledging this masterpiece. Lovely playlist, keeping this for later.
Really nice combination of the actuall OST and some other sacred harp songs. Before the show i did not know such singing even existed, but since then i came to love that genre. It is really unique.
im just gonna say this right now, I absolutely love these playlists you make :) they're so creative and help me know about new songs and give me the feeling I'm in over the garden wall.
Excellent selection! Do you happen to know where I can find the standalone rendition of this selection's Present Joys - A.M. Cagle? I can't seem to find this particular cover anywhere but here, all the ones I've found seem to be sung by different groups from this one.
It's called 'sacred harp singing', the album I used for this playlist was- "Vol 104 - Sacred Harp Singing With Dinner On The Ground." It's a really cool subgenre of a capella! :D
I actually combine the original soundtrack with my own additions! Anything by The Blasting Company is from the soundtrack, everything else is from me 👍

Oh that's so cool thanks for the info
This man really slipped multiple Jack Stauber songs into his OTGW themed playlist, and thought we wouldn’t notice.
Im so obsessed with Over the garden wall and New England autumn art.
I wish it was as nice as they made it seem. As someone that lived there that place is truly haunted. Worst time of my life.
the heck jack stauber is here!?! freakin epic!!! what a baller hahaha
This is underrated. I deeply respect you for an amazing taste in music and for acknowledging this masterpiece. Lovely playlist, keeping this for later.

I think it’s one the best representations of Americana it’s so distinctly American but in a good way

I'm so glad people still make stuff about OTGW I miss that show so so much 🧡🎃 (also you should've added the pumpkin song by Jack Stauber lol)
Well here is a whole genre of music that I have heard but didn't know what it was, and suddenly want to listen to a lot of.
