Been loving these recent videos as the new Toyotas AND the NC miata are some of my favourite cars! Can't wait for more of everything guys, quickly becoming my favourite channel to watch 😎
Love this approach of weight reduction without compromising its drivability on public roads. Way more interesting than seeing people only doing power mods and obsession on 1/4 mile times. Similar approach to Quinn's S2000 and MX-5 builds - they're like the 911 GT3 Touring, E46 M3 CSL and Aston Martin V12 Vantage S in which you can just about take your other half for a dinner date yet still you can have an absolute blast on winding roads or trackdays
Congrats on the car, curious to see what weight can be pulled out of it. I'd be really curious to see the weight and any reduction on the s2000 like you mentioned too. I feel like that was the only thing the s2000 wasnt perfect at.
Please weigh the S2000 in the next video. I am trying to find ways to save weight and have used your build as inspiration. Is there a power to weight ratio you’re targeting? I feel like that is the metric to use here; food for thought.
I took a peak at the S2k and it was 2630 lbs with almost a full tank. We'll have video on it and where we can further the weight savings on it. Under 2600 lbs with factory radio, AC and sound deadoning should be possible.
@@TheSlipAngle Not too shabby! I'm looking forward to the next video. I like my creature comforts, including the soft top, but I could do with a lithium battery. Keep the good content coming guys.
Unfortunately not for a little time as the roads have been pretty loaded up with salt and I'm going for PPF in April. No major modifications have been performed though that drastically change it's characteristics from stock.
Curb weights are always taken with full fluids, including fuel. Any other amount of fuel would be difficult to measure accurately and consistently. Had a set of Longacre corner scales in my shop for about 10 years, did a lot of weight reduction on a lot of cars. Sold the scales after I sold the shop. Been thinking about buying another set of scales, and looked at the Proform scales, but they get a lot of bad reviews.
Maybe I'm mistaken car's curb for motorcycle curb weights. The scales have been good so far. One hiccup where one re-zeroed itself in the middle of weighing a car. The only other gripe is that with heavier than 3k lbs cars like the supra (but may just be a MacPherson thing) is that it takes a good 15 minutes of settling to get the true weight as it slowly goes up.
Million dollar question. I keep asking but it's falling on deaf ears apparently. I got about 90 days left of patience in me before I go down there with a trailer.

Right on! We have a lot more content coming for them this year!

Precisely :)
Congratulations on the new Supra! I agree that it is more of a GT car but damn is it fast.
Thank you!
will definitely be following this Weight Reduction Plan as we would like to do something like this as well
Project Supra Manuel. The shift knob scan just be a ball with a tiny sombrero on it.
lol

Congrats on the new scales too.. sweet pickup. 100lbs+ would be easy in this

Whoever your auto insurance guy is……. He loves you!
Oh. 😕 Any video of your first drive in this beautiful car? Would be good for a before and after video.

@@TheSlipAngle Totally forgot about the climate (I’m in Calif.) I respect the PPF. I did the same. Congrats.✌️

Bucket recliners for the rx8 👌
Stock wheels are 25 lbs each. Another easy way to reduce ~30lbs.
The 19" forged wheels are actually really light. They were 21lbs a piece when I weighed them. We'll have a video with the new wheels soon.
Project anniversary?
I don't know about those scales. The weights shouldn't just keep changing like that.
It only does that on MacPherson cars it seems. All the A-arm and multi-link cars it gets the settled weight pretty quickly
How different isit than one you ordered ?
It has the 45th anniversary package
@@TheSlipAngleIt should hold value better at least
Project GR8 Supra
Project fix the stock supra suspension. I feel the OEM suspension on these cars are off.
But can you drive down the road with the window open?
They all have wind buffeting but it's a cheap, simple fix.
@@TheSlipAngle Toyota should have fixed it.
Dealers put the fuel in.
Red miata where?

I thought Z4 M engine was S54?
It was!
It is but it's said to be heavier than the all aluminum S65 V8
Just call it "project GR".
Lol! dead, at "california sucks"! it really does though!
