I have used a golf umbrella for years definitely good fun i put 50 lb break and strain line from each arm of it back to the main shaft , a small float so it wont sink , that way if it gets hairy you can just let it go and it floats and still retrieve it
Thanks, Darren. I have enjoyed using my sail for a year now. A couple of very worthwhile tips here. Request: On-water tips, especially in stronger winds. Paul
I should say i have also put my paddle in down the side of my boat ( i have a rudder) and use it as a leeboard so you can point a little best only trying this in fairly calmer conditions, it i think only going to work a bit and only with a rudder be safe and practice in a sheltered bit with a little bit wind be safe remember your safety is in your hands good luck .
Hi Darren! I see you shot this video 8 years ago. I'm looking for best "WindPaddle" type sail on the market today in 2021. Has anything been improved? I have an inflatable kayak full deck. I am looking to do Great Glen challenge in Scotland and sail would help me to get across 23 mile (36km) long Loch Ness. Many thanks
Couldn't you tie it to one end of the paddle then have the other end of the paddle trailing in the water behind you acting as a rudder? And the paddle could be partially supported on your shoulder. That way the sail can be easily held up and you can control both sail and rudder together at once.
Best kayak sail instruction I have seen so far. Thank you.

Got any tips for repair of the frame or a substitute frame in flexi metal of some sort that won’t snap?

Thank you very match the best video for folding this sail.
Thanks for the tutorial! 👏🏼
Always face the camera with your shoulders to avoid neck problems
are you saying you can sail against the wind by putting sail to one side? If you can only go down wind. You would have to paddle back?
