I havent tried the XS strings yet. The XT (i think) are the same as the old EXP and I've used those for years on guitar and mando. My body chemistry burns through the uncoated EJs too quickly.
The XS is an interesting concept. The slick feel is amazing. The tone is one dimensional though. All bright. The XT is a different formula than the EXP. I really dislike the XTs.
I have a Northfield f5 that put them on and brings the A and E out nicely. The Northfield has such an even sound and these strings make it even better. I think it makes it warm mellow all the way around. Thanks for doing the comparison on these strings.
I haven't officially picked a favorite, but I've been using the Mapes Octacore 115, 16, 26, 40 phosphor bronze. They sound good and they're cheap. I've still got some testing videos coming, so I could end of finding a different favorite, but the Octacore is something I can be happy with. - Nate
I liked how slick they were, but the tone just wasn’t there so I moved on. They have heavier gauges now so I may try those but I have a lot of other things I want to try first. - Nate
I'm definitely going to try these, thanks very much.

I figured you would like those. That’s all I’ll use as of right now
Last time I saw John Reischman, he had the XS in his Loar. It was a good match. - Nate
They have custom mediums out now. I really like them.
That’s great! How does the tone compare to the regular mediums? - Nate

I can't find the video where you pick your favorite set or have you yet?

Do you still like them? Now 4 months later.
