5 down-n-dirty street combat essentials. (So awesome.)
Self-defense is an important skill to have, and while I can provide some general tips, it's essential to remember that self-defense is about personal safety and should be used responsibly and within the boundaries of the law. Here are some key self-defense tips:
Stay Aware: One of the most effective self-defense strategies is being aware of your surroundings. Pay attention to your environment, people, and potential threats. Avoid distractions like your phone when walking alone at night.
Trust Your Instincts: If something doesn't feel right or someone gives you a bad vibe, trust your gut feeling and take precautions.
Maintain Personal Space: Keep a comfortable distance from strangers, especially in unfamiliar or potentially dangerous situations. This gives you more time to react if necessary.
Use Verbal Communication: Often, a potential threat can be deterred by assertive verbal communication. Clearly and confidently tell someone to back off or leave you alone if you feel uncomfortable.
Learn Basic Self-Defense Techniques: Consider taking self-defense classes to learn practical physical techniques to protect yourself. These may include strikes, escapes, and holds.
Utilize Everyday Objects: In a pinch, everyday objects like keys, pens, or a bag can be used as improvised weapons to create distance or defend yourself.
Plan Escape Routes: Always have an exit strategy in mind, whether you're in a building, parking lot, or any other location. Know where the nearest exits are.
Travel Safely: When traveling alone or in unfamiliar places, share your itinerary with someone you trust. Stay in well-lit and populated areas, and avoid walking alone at night if possible.
Avoid Risky Situations: Don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. Be cautious about going to unfamiliar or isolated places alone, especially at night.
Use Personal Alarms or Safety Apps: There are various safety apps and personal alarms available that can alert authorities or a trusted contact if you're in danger.
Stay Fit: Maintaining physical fitness can enhance your ability to defend yourself and escape from dangerous situations.
Practice De-escalation: If confronted, try to de-escalate the situation rather than escalating it. Use words and body language to defuse tension when possible.
Trustworthy Contacts: Have a list of trusted contacts you can call or message in case of emergency.
Legal Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with self-defense laws in your area. Understand when and how you can use force to protect yourself.
Stay Calm: In a crisis, it's crucial to remain as calm as possible. Panic can cloud your judgment and hinder your ability to defend yourself effectively.
Self-Confidence: Confidence can be a deterrent. Walk with purpose and project confidence in your body language.
Practice Situational Awareness: Continuously scan your surroundings, and be aware of potential hiding spots or escape routes.
Remember that self-defense is about protecting yourself and escaping from danger. Whenever possible, the best course of action is to avoid confrontation. If you find yourself in a dangerous situation, your primary goal should be to get away safely and seek help. Always prioritize your safety and well-being above all else.

1st move, ouch if aggressor reacts as you duck with a swift knee to head. Need guard hand ready to block it.

I studied martial arts for 5 years. Those first guys are very sloppy and undisciplined whe they move.

The trouble with these moves is you need a willing partner of like mind and interest to train with and to practise these moves on, and such seem impossible to find.
The Larry Wickham one reminds me of a lot of self defense videos that use placid, cooperating partners who are in a static pose and who are not really aggressing and are not in a volatile state of mind..

And then pressure test them on an opponent that is realistically fighting back.

@@dabunnyrabbit2620 When I was younger, we'd test out stuff like this with each other and just tap if it didn't work. One thing we found out is that most of this stuff doesn't work.

What? Nobody asks for the time by grabbing your arm. Especially these days when lots of people know MMA techniques it’s almost certain they’re grabbing your wrist to gain control of you before they begin striking. Context is relevant because if you can deescalate then you should, but if somebody grabs your wrist on the street that’s assault and you can certainly defend yourself. You don’t have to wait for them to inflict damage on you, because at that point you may be knocked unconscious before you have a chance to respond to their attack.

  • @dabunnyrabbit2620

Grabbing a wrist on the streets a good way to get socked in the mouth.
In other words its most likely not gonna happen, why grab alerting and giving the other person a chance when you can start striking right out the gate?
Put yourself in the place of Mr Nasty, if you want to take that person out, would you give them a chance to do something?
And at the same time would what you are seeing here stop you?

@@italianstallion890 Those are the techniques of someone who doesn't know how to fight, and relies on dirty striking. If you can't land a punch on someone, you can't land any of these

    • @italianstallion890
      @italianstallion890 Год назад +1

@@anti1training Clearly you've never been in a fight in your life you have to understand there are no rules in a street fight this is not a sport but I do agree on the punching thing I think everyone should get a martial art experience before and then start adding these techniques like eye gauging hair pulling and throat chops ect and don't you think that a perfect punch will end any fight because if your opponent is bigger and stronger than you the punch will do nothing but make him angry sorry sir but your sport mindset will get badly hurt in the streets.

    • @anti1training
      @anti1training Год назад

@@italianstallion890 I'm a trained fighter with comp and real-life experience against trained and untrained people. Sports fighting is real fighting. You're fighting against trained fighters with high reflexes, speed, strength, coordination, strategy and skills. Yes, a punch against a bigger person will still work. And its way better than trying to eye gouge a bigger person because that will make them angry, and they will start doing the same thing to you even more aggressively. That's poking the bear.
A trained fighter can do dirty stuff and more, with even more speed, accuracy and power. You contradicted your point "I think everyone should get martial arts experience". A trained fighter will destroy an opponent faster, than a self-defense martial artist with no sparring or comp experience
I don't appreciate the condescending assumption that I haven't been in a fight.
