It had ALWAYS been called Chemnitz (NOT now), but it was rather renamed KMS, b/c the Communists wanted to pay tribute. Same difference with St. Petersburg (Leningrad), Russia.

I wanna know if it is safe in chemnitz as an international student?...i have heard some bad stuffz about east germany!!
ID Jeet it's safe over all. and east germany does not really have big differences to the western parts on this topic. As well I can say that chemnitz has the highest percentage of international students at it's University than I've ever seen before.

that all depends on what you'd like to see or do. I'd not say that there is any place you should not go to. Just get information about places and check if you'd like to see them^^
