These two did more for the entertainment business than all the reality stars that currently think they are all that and a bag of chips....awesomely funny and incredibly business savy and they still found time to entertain us...to this day!!!
Luci & Desi were close to top of the entertainment heap. Add Jackie Gleason, Art Carnie, Audrey Meadows, Joyce Randolf, William Bendix, Sid Ceaser, Jimmy Durante, Red Skelton you pretty much have it all in the early TV entertainment days.
I think I've seen just about every What's my Line and I've got a secret with Lucy and this is by far my favorite. It's so hilarious! I love how he can't seem to get off his "I did see you on television earlier today?" question ROFL They're so great and it's always lovely to see them together outside the show. Love ♥
Of all the times I've watched these old clips, when the mystery guest comes on, and there's applause from the audience. The enthusiasm at the sight this particular pairing of mystery guests. It was the loudest I've heard
Lucy and Desi were the Best!! They were the biggest on tv for years, they deserve a lot of credit! Today's nitwits are just self-obsessed misfits. Look how humble and happy Lucy and Desi were, just regular people.
Lucy once said that at first the producers did not want Desi because he was Cuban......This offended her greatly......These 2 blessed us all ! Thank you Lucy and Desi ! !
Lucy was untouchable, in a league by herself. It wasn't until the 70's that Carol Burnett appeared and brought back the kind of comedy Lucy had but no way could she fill Lucy's shoes.
As great as that would be, unfortunately today's television audiences are prone to only laughing at things that are considered "crude" or "dirty". Nobody would enjoy it as much as others and it wouldn't last long. But I would love for this show to return!
This game show is very interesting. That one male player sure guessed Lucy right off, it made it difficult when the players had to disguise their voices.Stars from the 1950's and every decade before had distinctive voices. Most now days all sound alike. 'I've got a secret' was a very interesting game, too.One guy on it had witnessed Abe Lincoln's assination, at age 5.
Not only that but Lucy's voice was practically engrained in everybody's mind and subconsciousness in the 1950s so it was nearly impossible for her to fool anyone.
i found a VHS tape with this on it. My favorite part is when she says Swidish is a cuban sweed but thats not in this part. She should have said no when they asked if her husband was as famous as she was
Lucy and Desi believed in having a home and family and in fact moved their relatives to Los Angeles. The were madley in love but I think the pressures of their ever enlarging responsibilities from being performers to being studio owners, directors and producers was too enormous for a normal life, and with it enormous wealth and fame and privilege, and they just couldn't keep the pieces together. But everyone who knew them says they forever loved each other.
Those wonderful years of great tv shows from the 1950s-1960s are GONE, when there were superb tv series of all genres: Westerns, Detectives, Game Shows, Sitcoms, Variety, Dramas, etc. And nary a bad word or name-calling in them, especially toward women! Classy was the theme of tv shows in general, compared to the low-class garbage that makes up most of the prime time shows!
@PetraKenobi We should make a petition to bring WML? back. I've played it at my school, on car trips, at home with the board game, and everyone loves it.
"Could we have seen you on television today?" These days that would indicate just about everyone in the world. I momentarily forgot that there were only three channels back then.
Wow I didn't know about that. Thanks for sharing. A lot of people seem to give Desi a lot of heat for being a womanizer and whatnot.. but I always felt a little bad for him. It must have been really hard to be one of the very few minority actors back then.
I don't think that comedy becoming increasingly crude and offensive represents "progress" or "change for the better". Not by a long shot. And I'd say that what's really problematic are the people who accept crudity and offensiveness as a 'good" change. The evolution of art does not require a descent into crudity and offensiveness.
@PetraKenobi Yeah, good point. I sure wouldn't want to see people like Lady GaGa or today's other mega stars as Mystery Guests. Life just isn't as polite and classy as it must have been back then.
Your opinion of what is funny decent and good are relative. the point of television shows are to entertaint. Comedy and art do not progress if they stay within the boundaries of what some people think is decent. Comedy is an art which evolves. Entertainment becomes boring if it remains stagnant. Imagine what the Edwardian era would have thought of 1950's entertainment.Like I said, things change and for the better. Its the people who can't deal with the change that is problematic.
Spent the last 2 days crying, laughing, watching all these uploads of the 2 best entertainers of all.
I love how Arlene yells BOTH OF THEM! ahahah
Me too 🤣
These two did more for the entertainment business than all the reality stars that currently think they are all that and a bag of chips....awesomely funny and incredibly business savy and they still found time to entertain us...to this day!!!
well desi didn't think lucy was such a bag of chips as he cheated on her a lot but she was a controlling person so u kno
ABSOLUTELY true statement at 3;13..."...the worlds greatest comedienne lucille ball... "
Lucy was so awesome and Desi was a genius
Aww when Dorothy says 'are you the voluptuous, blonde type?' and Lucy says 'I don't think so'
When she started up as an actress she was a blonde.
haha I wish I could go back to the 50s/40s and just see what life was like. It was such a cool time.
I think I've seen just about every What's my Line and I've got a secret with Lucy and this is by far my favorite. It's so hilarious!
I love how he can't seem to get off his "I did see you on television earlier today?" question ROFL They're so great and it's always lovely to see them together outside the show. Love ♥
lol so excited when she said its both of them
Of all the times I've watched these old clips, when the mystery guest comes on, and there's applause from the audience. The enthusiasm at the sight this particular pairing of mystery guests. It was the loudest I've heard
even the hand writing is stylish
What a wonderful moment in time - so precious! They look so happy together.
The true power couple of Hollywood. No one has come close since.
Yes sir
They're such a beautiful couple.
They were the best!
...are you sure we saw you on TV today?! hahaha, makes me laugh every time
"You SURE it's not Duke Snider?" --Robert Q. Lewis, at 3:36, one of the funniest lines in this episode, or in any I've heard in a WML? episode!
I love how Desi and Lucy tried to confuse the panel.
Even Desi's "mhm" has an accent ;) I lovvvve this clip, one of my favorites!!! Lucy and Desi -3
I love Lucy, and Desi.
1:48 The world's greatest comedian, Lucille Ball
Well, in those days, she was unparalled
Lucy was untouchable, in a league by herself. It wasn't until the 70's that Carol Burnett appeared and brought back the kind of comedy Lucy had but no way could she fill Lucy's shoes.
I love Lucy and Desi and used to enjoy this old tv show. Thanks for posting. This was great!
my most favorite couple everr.
I can tell Desi had a mean and sarcastic streak still Lucille pressed on!
I want the whole collection on DVD. Wish it was available. They just don't make stuff like this today!
ah, i love them both! :D thanks for uploading!
Awesome! Just awesome! Love those two!!!
Haha. I love how Desi just has to do the high pitched mmhm noises so they wouldn't hear his accent. Thank you for uploading!
This was a hilarious clip. Lucy is such a ham!!
Aww when Dorothy says 'are you the voluptuous blonde type and Lucy says 'I don't think so'
"it's not desi arnaz"...
"Are you.."
"IT BOTH"
that was soo cute
love them 😊
I like it when Lucy waves to the panelist in the end
As great as that would be, unfortunately today's television audiences are prone to only laughing at things that are considered "crude" or "dirty". Nobody would enjoy it as much as others and it wouldn't last long. But I would love for this show to return!
BEST COUPLE IN HISTORY
Lucy and Desi would have been great to have at parties!
Such cool signatures from them!
I wouldn’t mind having this show come back to air... but we don’t have enough “good” stars to have on it.
Frank Sinatra once said " You can wait around and hope and wish but you'll never see the likes of this talent again". He was right.
They would probably have on stupid social media influencers and call themstars.
I loved the tag-team, that was excellent, haha.
they both look so cute :)
Arlene Francis was wicked smart!
Come to think of it, they all were. Where, oh where has intelligence on TV gone?
They've got a lot of spailinin' to do!
This was cute. It was a bitter/sweet moment.
woulda been nice to see the chitchat at the end aaahhh!!
i still LOVE Lucy!
too cute!
Miss Francis?
...boy I wasn't around earlier today... XD
i love lucy
Awesome
THAT WAS SO GREAT!!! i wish that was me

sooo cute.
i love how Lewis was like going on about the tv show
good times
Lucy and Desi believed in having a home and family and in fact moved their relatives to Los Angeles. No cue cards. Desi would rehearse a couple times and do the show with few mistakes in a language not his own and with great comic timing,
Who is Robert Q Lewis
Great clip,
My god, Lucy can make me crack up just by making a face. I was ROFL at 4:07 when she was asked if she is a voluptuous blonde. She is incredibly funny.

Do you play the conga drums? :---o
October 2, 1955 ☺
@PetraKenobi We should make a petition to bring WML? back. I've played it at my school, on car trips, at home with the board game, and everyone loves it.
this is a good one!
They should bring back this show.
Funny,funny stuff!
What year is this from?
"Could we have seen you on television today?" These days that would indicate just about everyone in the world. I momentarily forgot that there were only three channels back then.
@Dakotanjulie I just like those names. Point blank. Hey aren't we suppose to post something about Lucille and Desi anyway?
Wow I didn't know about that. Thanks for sharing. A lot of people seem to give Desi a lot of heat for being a womanizer and whatnot.. but I always felt a little bad for him. It must have been really hard to be one of the very few minority actors back then.
Did they not have great fun doing this? And brought all of us along with it? I, as a young lad then watched every episode every week.
How does this game work? The money part.
Fall on the flooor and scream and laugh!!!!
THAT WAS SO COMMICAL TO WATCH. JUDA59ful
Wait, it really WASN'T Duke Schneider?
Duke Snider
@candylaurenkaryn what does that mean?
1955 according to one source I found
@faeriegeek the first time he did it i thought it was lucy! haha
Good point -- but they were still smart -- and funny.
This was before Lucy's voice became so scratchy from smoking. Good times
Is it just me or does the host get a little snippy at 1:30 ?
@candylaurenkaryn ya...i was just asking about your post
@PetraKenobi me too! :)
@PetraKenobi Yeah, good point. I sure wouldn't want to see people like Lady GaGa or today's other mega stars as Mystery Guests. Life just isn't as polite and classy as it must have been back then.
Were they kind of cheating?
Lucy greenlighted Star Trek because she thought it was about movie stars trekking around the South Pacific during the war
The full episode for Oct. 2, 1955 is here: ruclips.net/video/3fKzmCHAWPc/видео.html
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
but no social media around ;-) to report it.
Ask the Beavis and Butthead generations that followed and you'll get your answer.
I know who it is world's greatest comedienne Lucille Ball
- no hahaha
do they even know it's two people LOL
Its the level of substance abuse and lack of reverence.
Your opinion of what is funny decent and good are relative. the point of television shows are to entertaint. @ceejay2486 That's so sad. What's sadder is what a bitter person Lucy was in real life.
How the hell were they supposed to guess those two lol
are you a lady?
jah, i think so.....
hilarious :)
No way they knew who it was all staged please
Sure, and they BOTH had plenty of extramarital affairs
gattamelata1940 Us that a fact?
