Bogibeel Road-cum-Rail Bridge - how was it built?

- This is the film on the Fabrication, Assembly and Launching of the 4.94 KM long double decked steel welded Bogibeel Rail-cum-Road bridge, third longest in India and largest over the Mighty Brahmaputra, by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) Ltd.
This first totally welded steel bridge of Indian Railways have two railway tracks in the lower deck and three lane for vehicle movement on the upper deck. The 78,000 metric tonne steel bridge has over 900 kilometers of welding and stands overs 42 pillars.
This film show the step-by-step construction process that HCC Ltd has undertaken to build this bridget. It is an example of precise engineering and meticulous planning & implementation.

I have examined many bridges in the US, Europe, China, Japan, Turkey, and India, and find that: Compared to suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges, arch bridges, this particular bridge design is the MOST durable, LEAST maintenance, and LEAST cost of all. In my opinion, it is the most optimal, the best design of all.
Btw, this design looks the same as the Oresunds bridge (145m span between pylons as opposed to 125m of Bogibeel)) between Denmark and Sweden. I hope India will finish it soon for the people in the northeast region.

It shows how talented our engineers are.....
I don't know why some people are blaming these companies without understanding the facts. these companies are working on many big projects Globally not only in India.
Main issue is Fund (money).
As we all know that without money even we can't maintain our family. But they are maintain thousands of family of their employees by utilising funds coming from other projects or may be from other countries.
But our Govt. employees sometime dont receive their salaries for more than 6-months. and those who are in contractual post no words to say. ok leave it.
If Govt. allow them to put a Toll gate on this bridge by giving them 1year dead line to complete it then they could be completed it in 10months. for e.g. Guwahati-Shillong-Jowai 4lane road including flyovers & bridges has been completed within 2-3 years by some South based companies which is around 80km long 4lane and 50km long 2lane road. Which has been financed by their own sources. So now we have to pay money in Toll gate each time to travel on these roads.
So chill friends feel lucky that this project was taken by HCC once upon a time when we were in school now our kids are in school. Even after so many hurdles and financial loses, finally they make it and handover to Nation to serve.
They think that constructing a bridge is Haat ka Mel . That's why they r reacting like this.

The easiness shown in this Graphical illustration is not even 0.01% Ease in real scenario... Its an engineering marvel for sure. Every bit of steel fabrication takes around an hour to weeks or even months to completely judge its True strength and Feasibility in Steel design that is well under IS 800:2007 specifications and meets the demand of the Variable Loading Applications, weld strength, durability etc. Salute to all the Civil Engineers who made this possible.
